HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

I may not be looking closely enough but the only discrepancy I see is the PR speak.

Right, FerenComm's other client is Disney Media, which wants this and the OLTLers back there (versus ABCD, which does not and wants the rights back).

Care to share what that is, exactly?

Headwriting opportunities have nothing to do with it, Eric.

Oh, I can see something happening and PP firing them etc--but I don't see a HW hired for the AMC reboot immediately walking... For me--and I agree about many of your thoughts on PP, that's just too extreme a reaction.

My predictions for AMC:

Marlene McP and Agnes Nixon as co-HWs, who will dictate long term story and be responsible for breakdown, and 4 dialogue writers (at most). That will be the entire writing staff.

I think WW and CM are both contingent on SL and MEK actually signing on the dotted line. I think SL will only recur, and therefore, WW will not be on the show. MEK will sign, and then CM will follow. AM will be re-cast with Susan Haskell. That brings up the contract up to 10, and the rest will be offspring who have been SORAS.

JB, DC, LM and RM will recur as the senior members of the Chandlers and the Martins.

To be clear, my prediction isn't necessary my preference.

I'm okay with Marlene McP and I do think that Agnes is working on story, but I don't think she is fleshing story out per se, which will leave a lot on Marlene's shoulders. I want a true co-HW, who has history with the show. I want Richard C., because he is so good at dialogue, but I'm doubtful that will happen.

I actually don't care about Zach and Kendall one way or the other, but I could see PP offering it to Susan H. as a way of enticing TK to sign, and I could also see AM give it her full PR blessing.

I want JB and DC to be contract, but suspect because of his age and semi-retirement status, that the most these two will be is recurring.

Couldn't it be a possibility. That with Soapnet staying on air. And, it being a part of Disney Media as well. That OLTL and AMC could air on that channel.

Cause, alot of people do still have Soapnet.

No.

And the amount of people it would anger if these shows ended up on SoapNet after Disney made cable companies pull SoapNet.

Right--certainly I don't see DC ever stepping out of his semi-retirement--which would prob leave JB, if hired, to be recurring too (especially with no Liza cast yet).

No.

Okay. Just throwing that out there.

In all honesty. I just wish ABC would take the shows back to ABCD. Seriously. Just admit what a !@#$%^&*] up they made. And, take them back. But, that will NEVER happen.

ABC wanted the rights to the shows back (after seeing GH's resurgence) and wants to service GH. But Disney, which holds the reins, is tight with Rich Frank and wants in on online media. Therefore Disney has ABC/GH under the yoke on this and is allowing PP leeway to continue to pursue AMC/OLTL and the OLTL actors. That's my understanding, anyway.

Thi could actually bode well That FerenComm is involved. Disney Domestic TV is a syndication arm which may help PP get Cable deals for both soaps
