HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

I just think what PP is doing is so wrong, it was not the actors' fault they couldn't get their act together a year ago, they moved their families across the country, now PP is basically firing them, it has turned me off PP big time, i doubt I will watch now

This is not PP's fault. ABC agreed to the terms PP had when they paid to use Starr, John & Todd etc. They knew this was always a possibilty. ABC is no victim here & no offense but Im sure the actors knew what was possible when they signed on too.

No Victims here. All Willing participants who knew the score

She's not defending ABC. She's looking more at the actors and agreed, it isnt their fault.

Im sure the actors are aware when they signed on to Gh that PP owned the rights to their roles & If and when OLTL happened, PP could and maybe would take the roles back. So its not UNFAIR. They were aware of this.

Might get an official comment from Prospect Park...

The truth or half truths and lies....lol

In the future, can you make sure to never include the words "own" or "owned" when it relates to Prospect Park and AMC/OLTL? It's more like rented. So to rephrase your statement, "I'm sure the actors are aware that when they signed onto GH that PP licensed/rented the rights to their roles..."

#PP has a deal with ABC that they have the rights to all OLTL originated Characters and if they did nothing those rights revert back in late Feb 2013.

Ok So ABC wanted to use Starr, Todd & John, Blair, Tea for #GH. They were aware that PP has the rights & went to them and PP allowed them to rent the characters out.
ABC knew that if PP happened to make a go out of OLTL, that PP was in its legal right to ask Gh to stop using the OLTL transplants if PP wanted them for the OLTL revival.

Now with all their ducks in a row PP is ready to move on OLTL & they want the characters involved. So now fans are pissed and blamming PP. Sorry that does not fly. ABC knew of this deal & Im sure the actors playing the roles knew this could happen. Nothing shady here.

Now it seems PP just wants the characters to help relaunch OLTL and then they can return to GH. A deal between ABC & PP is being worked on. Hopefully it does happen as Im sure it will benefit both soaps in the long run.

I have a question. Putting the whole PP stuff off to the side for a minute, should we assume that all three strippers actors have the type of contracts where ABC has the option to cut them loose every 14 weeks? Just wondering.

Every 13 weeks but yes that is a standard contract

Any actor, regardless of popularity/longevity, can be released from their contract with a soap every 13 weeks. It is for the protection of the show/network, not the actor.

Okay. So here's my next question, if an actor gets written out in say, the second week of that 13 week cycle, do they get any type of money for the rest of that cycle since they are still technically employed for the next 11 weeks?
