Girl Meets World - (Boy meets World spinoff)

We've seen the highs and lows of Cory Matthews and his lifelong sweetheart Topanga. But what about their daughter?

TVLine reports that the Disney Channel is currently circling the prospect of a Boy Meets World sequel series called Girl Meets World. Not only that, but insiders say the cable network is looking to cast original series stars Ben Savage (Cory) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga); their two characters were married before the popular sitcom ended in 2000. The new series would focus their pre-teen daughter.

Since the end of Boy's seventh and final season, Savage has made numerous guest appearances on other TV shows like Chuck, Bones and Without a Trace. Meanwhile, Fishel's post-Boy work includes National Lampoon's Dorm Daze and hosting duties on Style Network's The Dish.

What do you think? Would you like to see a follow-up to ABC's staple coming-of-age series? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

I applaud her, but I don't think Rowan Blanchard's outspoken-ness did the show any favors ... especially with it being on Disney. But they do often end shows after 65 episodes, regardless of popularity.

IMO the show isn't a good fit for Freeform. It's too "kiddish" still. They have YET to let Riley have any actual character growth. Maturity wise she acts younger than Auggie.

The show had so much potential and IMO the writer's blew it.

Considering Freeform sounds like a Power Rangers reboot, how adult can they be?

From the show's I've on there like PLL and Baby Daddy and Young and Hungry, the fanbase skews alot older than at Disney as well. GMW main fanbase is kids & pre-teens

But the problems it has are because it IS on Disney Channel. They wouldn't have those problems on Freeform. I get what you're saying but it's a much better fit. That's where it should have been from day one.

Plus there's no guarantee that it would do well on Freeform. It does like about 2 million(I think less than that now) on Disney. Alot of freeform show's barely hit a million viewers. So if it didn't pull off great ratings they'd cancel it in no time.

This is why I said in the beginning I didn't want it on Disney. Alot of us said what Rider did that Disney will allow the writer's the freedom they need to grow

Exactly. It never should have been on the Disney Channel. It wouldn't have had those problems if it was on ABC Family/Freeform. Too bad the show seems dead. I haven't heard anything about it moving anywhere else :(
