The most Eccleston has ever said - AFAIK - is that he didn't approve of the production process on Series 1 and how the crew were treated. Being very much from a working class background and being exceptionally proud of his roots, he took great offense to that.

The more specific persistent rumors indicate this may primarily have had to do with the block of filming for the dreadful "Aliens in London/World War III" two-parter directed by a guy who's never worked on the show again, along with some of the producers at the time (I think Phil Collinson?), but I don't know if that anecdote is true.

David Tennant has signed on to play Jennifer Garner’s husband in Camping, the new HBO comedy from Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner. (The show itself is a remake of the Julia Davis Britcom.)

After some false starts with the never-aired NBC pilot and the failed Broadchurch remake, Tennant is finally making inroads into American TV between this and Jessica Jones.

Jennifer Garner and Lena Dunham? Talk about a black hole. It may be a big success for him for all I know, but other than Jessica Jones he really has picked some odd choices in his American career.

Hey, for whatever reason, HBO likes being in the Lena Dunham business, so unless the show really tanks, he’ll get at least 2-3 seasons out of it and something to pad the resume.

Then again, it could be disastrous, and he’ll be back in the U.K. where he’ll get steady work until he croaks...

I don't think Good Omens (which was not mentioned is a weird choice) though it is is a US/UK co-production. The people behind the original UK show, did DT have a relationship with them?

Listen, Jennifer Garner is just happy to not be doing Christian movies anymore.

Good luck, David. I’ll check this out for him despite the fact that I LOATHE Lena Dunham.

Christian movies are probably preferable to working with good ol’ Lena.

Billie Piper is making her NYC theater debut and the Times interviews her about going from pop star to DW to becoming one of Britain’s most respected stage actresses.

I just find her career trajectory fascinating. It’d be like Miley Cyrus or Britney Spears taking a detour through an admittedly somewhat campy sci-fi/fantasy series and somehow ending up as a young Colleen Dewhurst within a few years.

Speaking of Billie Piper, Collateral with her, John Simm, and Carey Mulligan (Sally Sparrow) is on Netflix (after being on BBC first in the UK only). Has anyone else watched it yet?

I haven’t, but I heard great things about CM in it.
