Best Soap Opera Theme

I always associate these two with my childhood and I think they've aged really well (especially Hold on To Love) and still hold up amazingly today.

Hold on To Love was definitely a good theme for GL. It's the only theme I remember of the show when I first started watching in the mid-1990's. Every theme after could not compare. Sometimes shows should leave well enough alone.

Yeah, I have to say, sometimes other countries do nicer versions of our openings. tongue.png They all seem to at least add names.

IF we're just talking about the music and not the visuals, the GL Ritounelle theme will always be my favourite. So amazingly haunting, yet calming at the same time.

The one with Danny doing that spin and rocking out, Jill's big-haired preening, Kay and her talons as Rex wraps the necklace around her neck, that one is classic. Oh, and the one where the lady (forget who) spins with her purse over her shoulder (!).

I liked the ones where they had the characters in pastels and morphed into real life shots. I thought that was the nicest transition from the Dvore sketches to live action, but I'm sure it was time and money intensive to do all those.

Lord, that Ritournelle closing has my eyes all kind of crossing. I remember the later one in the early '80s when my grandma used to watch, it was more "electronic" looking and I was kind of fascinated looking at it.

I kind of wish ATWT had kept this music until the end. I love it.

I believe it was in the early 2000's when Y&R began its trashy version to Nadia's theme. Someone correct me if I'm wrong (might be, since I vaguely remember some soap doing it in the 1990's for some reason).

and I believe Port Charles was the first to add character names

But in the end, I have to choose All My Children's early 1990's theme.

When this first came out, it was seriously the best thing ever. Definitely my sentimental favorite. The perfect opening, doing its show justice... modern and innovative without "trying too hard" to be hip, honoring its show's history while taking it into its third decade.

I still can't believe Another World kept this sh!t until 1996. Even by 1989 this was dated as hell.

JFP's opening might not be to everyone's liking, but she had the right idea. There is no reason why this paintbox opening should have lasted until 1996. Neither NBC or PGP paid any attention to this show until it was canceled.
