Members Max
Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy recently stated his strong opposition to gay marriage: http://news.yahoo.co...0--finance.html IMO, while people are entitled to whatever opinions they wish, it is stupid (from a business standpoint) to publicly express one's view on a hot button social or political issue. By outwardly taking any position on this issue, he is already alienating half his potential customers. P.S. I just realized the mistake I made in the subject header, which I cannot go back and correct. It should read "President" as opposed to "President [&] CEO." (Cathy is not the CEO, but he is also the company's COO.)
Members beebs
This doesn't surprise me in the slightest, considering the reports I've heard about the company funneling money into anti-GLBT causes in the past. They're really gonna feel the negative impact from this, surely. Time will not be friendly to this strategy. You can speak out on social issues all you want, but telling a huge chunk of potential clientele that they're essentially second class citizens in the eyes of the company is not going to do them much good down the road, and virtually guarantees any expansion into other North American and Western European countries will go down in flames. I'm in a political/ragey mood tonight, though. So forgive my pontificating XD
Members DRW50
This is always an issue because Chick-fil-A provides relatively decent (if way too greasy) food at a low cost. I've seen gay media people talk about going to Chick-fil-A and then get shouted down and have to apologize, or they didn't even realize what this company stood for. They not only give big money to hate groups, they also let hate groups use some of their restaurants for meetings. This guy is lucky, because he will be seen as a martyr. It's only businesses who support gay marriage who seem to feel the real pain of a boycott.
Members DRW50
The Muppets are breaking ties to Chick-fil-A https://www.facebook.com/notes/the-jim-henson-company/july-20-2012/10150928864755563 Meanwhile, Mike Huckabee, after going along with the idea that gays are child molesters, tries to push Chick-fil-A. Not too subtle there. http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/2-huckabee-boy-scouts-did-the-right-thing-because-gays-are-pedophiles/discrimination/2012/07/23/44359
