I really like Hoda and Matt's gain will be Kathie Lee's loss. I predict that Hoda would go the same way as another lady I really like, Meredith Vieira. I think there was an initial desire to return to covering "hard news" after doing a fluffier show, then you add that early morning/three hour show schedule on top of it... I think it all became too draining. Plus, these shows are so ageist and sexist, they'd probably trade Hoda in in a few years, I was actally surprised that Meredith got the gig to begin with.

As for Regis, I have seen him on The View and The Talk, and he is just not the same. He does not work well as a team player. He will only play second banana to funnier, more famous men. I think he and Kathie Lee together again could be cute for a while, but it just won't be the same. Especially if he tries to rule in what is Kathie Lee's roost. Regis is right for Live! but he is not right for Today because frankly no one wants to watch him handling the heavier, sadder stuff that Today covers.

I think Regis should retire from all talk, as he has become such a self-parody. He and Kathie Lee were DONE long before she left.

This feels like shuffling the deck chairs. Most people seem to see Hoda and Kathie Lee as a joke, not the next Jane Pauley.

Their reunion last week was fine from what I saw. Their opening segment was online. They have the patter down cold, and although he is a little older now, he is still a good host who knows how to play to a crowd. She knows how to laugh just a little too much. They were a good team and when she became trainwreck TV her tirades were must see TV. Of all his co-hosts she was the best. I would watch them and I don't think I have ever watched Kathie Lee on Today.

No offense but he's old and retired for a reason. I dont see him bringing the same kind of energy the hour needs andit would be in their best interest to go younger and pull for that demographic over the older crowd, who would draw off the nostalgia of their old show

I can see why they would want Hoda but they would be better off testing Michelle Beadle with Matt Lauer instead. If that didn't work then they could always send her back to their sports division. It's a bad idea for them to take something that they know works and ruin it for something that might have worked ages ago.

Regis is obnoxious and Kathie Lee is right there as well. They might be tolerable for awhile--especially for the nostalgic group, but that will probably only go so far before people start to give them a good look and see two annoying old people.

Hoda makes Kathie Lee more tolerable so if they are intent on sending Hoda to navigate the waters with ML, then they should find a more tranquil replacement than Regis who ought to try locking his ego in a box and stop seeing himself as Betty White's counterpart.

If wanting these two together again on TV is wrong, I really don't want to be right. This is just awesome wub.png .

It would work for me and I'm 23, but then again I tend to think I may have actually been born much earlier than 1989 and my soul was just transplanted into the body of a 23 year old girl laugh.png .

For some reason she doesn't bug me as much as she should. Maybe I just have some goodwill for her being from Maryland too, I don't know laugh.png .

She doesn't bother me as much as she used to either, it's when her kids were little. Now, the moment one of them gives her a grand baby, Lord help... I still think that if you put those two together, you no longer have Today, you have Live! again, and I'm not sure that's what NBC's going for. Meanwhile, if it's a money maker, they will gladly retool. Like I said, Regis just isn't as good at handling mushy emotional sad serious stuff that cry at the drop of a hat Kathie and hard news background Hoda compliment each other at doing.
