I think it's crazy how Clifton and Diamont have completely taken over the show and basically become the quintessential male leads of B&B. They haven't even been on for that long. Crazy you never hear from the other ones anymore.

thats for the best bc BB has tended to have great female leads but the males suck. I think Scott and Don are better actors than Ron and McCook

John McCook hasn't really been a lead since the early 90's.

B&B has such high cast turnover, so I would imagine Clifton will be phased out soon enough. Diamont may stay longer since there are no viable men in that age group (and someone finally cut the cord on Nick).

Poor Hunter Tylo looks like s hit..

She does look horrible. It's so incredibly sad to see what she's done to herself. She used to be such a stunning beauty. One of the most beautiful women on tv for sure.

I can't help but wonder how she would have looked without all the surgery. She would probably have looked ten times better than she does now.

For the seventh year in the row, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL took home the International TV Audience Award in the "Telenovela/Soap Opera" category at the Monte Carlo Television Festival. The awards are determined by the sum of ratings across five continents and 65 countries, which means that B&B was the most watched series in its genre worldwide. Cast members Scott Clifton (Liam), Don Diamont (Bill), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy), Kim Matula (Hope) and Hunter Tylo (Taylor) were on hand to accept the award on behalf of the soap. Congratulations!

Thought the same. He was second tier on Y&R at best and now is LEAD/spokesperson for B&B and has a great character to play...

Guiding Light Discussion Thread

What I liked about Bloss is that I liked how they grew to be the stable couple- the closest to an Ed and Mo in their prime. Especially after the Tori story when their extra-marital exploits were in the past. I wanted them to SORAS the three kids, along with Dinah and with Phillip's family as Ross's extended family would really be solid core family material.
With that said, I was rooting against Bloss in 1999 as I really liked the Ross/India pairing-- but that just turned out to be a waste of MKA.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's

The return of sitcoms' popularity in the mid-'80s was a real thing, but the crash of the wealth-based nighttime soap genre was resonate and self-induced.

There was an effectively grim finality to the mood of the cliffhangers in the Spring of 1985: Bobby's death, the Moldavian massacre, the return of Val's babies... and they felt as if they could have ended right there (and perhaps they should have, although I would have sorely missed S10 of Dallas, S6 of FC, and Season 9 of Dynasty , and the next five years of KNOTS as they singularly maintained quality).

But, wow, these shows just fell apart post-Spring 1985. They stopped being character dramas after a while, and just started trying to "impress" viewers in some superficial way and to "fake it" somehow.

What a painful, unnecessary slide it was. But once these shows seemed to lose their identities, their sense of self, their momentum into the dung heap couldn't be slowed.

It is very strange. They have insisted on having 30+ contract players for years now. If they had less cast, they could up everyone's episode guarantees, balance the cast out more. Like 20-25 would be perfect. Have everyone else recur.
If you look back at the history of the show, especially in the 1970s and in the 2010s, whenever the show was at it's most successful, it had smaller casts. Audience relate to the characters more, because they see more of them. In 2009 and 2013, the show had arguable it's most successful periods since the early 2000s (ratings wise that is). They had smaller casts and focused on 3 or 4 stories the whole year. That's what they should be doing at this point. Have a few umbrella stories, that last the whole year, and involve the whole cast. But again, before that, fix who we see on screen cause.....😬
