I dont know who this chick is or where she came from but her song is EVERYWHERE! I cant escape it. Sure its catchy and I can see why people might like it but it annoys me to no end. I cant turn on the friggin radio without hearing. "Call me maybe" No, he dont want to call your bitch ass!

OMG at the end of this video. I just watched. My heart dropped laugh.png

I don't know... sometimes I wonder if Elton's well is running dry. I would think it would be hell to keep coming up with hits for 40 years. The only thing I am relieved with is that Rod Mckuen didn't SING the dang song... man, he makes my ears bleed. I think people take it seriously because Terry Jacks' version is so damn melodramatic, with his quivering vocals so far forward in the mix and the relatievely sparse production. Rod Allen from the Fortunes is just a much better singer, and their version has much more balance, so the lyrics don't just slap you across the face through the whole song. And I'm dying to know who changed the third verse, because it also gives the Fortunes' version a little extra bite, while the third verse on Terry Jacks' version just seems to be there to be intentionally tear jerking and sappy.

I looked up the Wikipedia entry of Seasons in the Sun--it looks like the Kingston Trio's version came before the Fortunes' version. But even those two are covers. Who was the original artist?

This is one of the official songs for the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship held in Poland and the Ukraine, sung by Oceana, a German soul singer. This song is so untypical for her and is just awful – but ironically it's her best-selling single to date. mellow.png Pure trash.

Have you heard the original. (By Jacques Brel...It's the actual original version of that song) It's French. And, I love it.

So different from the American version. But, I do admit. I love Terry Jacks' version. I'm a sap I guess. And, yes. I'm not joking. I seriously love it. Especially after one of my friends was murdered in 2010. It has meaning for me now.

I guess I'm a sap, too, because his version is growing on me--ironically, thanks to this board, which I don't think was alphanguy's intention laugh.png .

I'll listen to the original later, just to see how it compares.
