Really hope Days go up Give these Days Bashers something even more to talk about. DAYS HAS BEEN KICK ASS!!!!!!

A few weeks ago some one said in here that Days is rehashing old stories. Really? This is THE FIRST TIME EVER DAYS has told a gay story. A twink getting roughed up in the alley way! I thought I would never see this day on a show coming from Ken Corday when he used to gay bash in the 90's

MarDar are on fire. I love every inch of the show.

Setting the bar. Lets see waht happens this week

IMHO the problem is that Will's story is only story that isn't a total rehash on Days, and even that has been tarnished with MarDar trying to compare Will walking in on Sami and EJ with Sami catching Marlena with John (totally different situations IMO). Sadly Chandler's performance has been the only bright spot on Days as far I'm concerned. Will it be enough to bring up the ratings? Maybe. People might also have tuned in to see Sami's long drawn out demise finally happen, its like watching a train wreck.

The history is done in a way which either manages to confuse/bore old and new fans (Alice's secret) or is mostly just fanservice, not a storyline (Will raging at Sami). Outside of fans who hate Sami, I'm not sure of the appeal of Will since MarDar took over, and I think it made his characterization a mess. I still don't see the point of recreating the whole John/Marlena incident when no one involved is the same and when the only story fallout was Will/Sami playing out the same scene 20 times and this rushed anticlimax with Rafe finding out the truth.

Notice that I said Chandler's performance and not the turn in Will's character. Personally, I took Days off my DVR the day that they had Sami do the deed with EJ again during November sweeps, and I think a lot of other viewers eventually did the same. However, I think many will be compelled to see the end results now that its all coming out.

Oh I'm not disagreeing. I do think Chandler's performance gets attention. I just think it also suffered from the change in the story.

Hopefully this story is done now, because I think the best thing for Sami, Will, EJ, everyone, is to move on from lazy history namechecks.

I agree with you! Days has been really good and has been written actually very well, better than it has been written for years. I don't think DAYS is rehashing any old storylines. What I do see them doing is making things more relevant and really tieing up loose ends and reaffirming old wounds. For example, Carrie and Sami! The rivalry between these two sisters contrary to everyone else's belief has never really been resolved. In all honesty, it never will be. Yes in the past years when Carrie was off canvas and she swung through Salem for a couple days visiting, the sisters were very civil to each other and got along for the most part. But that was only for a few days and the storyline was not about Sami and Carrie's issues with each other, it was about Sami's wedding, or Alice's funeral. So naturally her return to the canvas does bring up their rivalry again because it was never settled or resolved. The difference now is Sami is not scheming to take Austin away with all of her machinations in the past. Carrie is not scheming to take Rafe or anything of that nature. They will always have sibling rivalry and that's natural. Doesn't bother me! I like this version of their rivalry now because they are mature and older.

The whole Alamania storyline with Hope and John is not rehashing a old storyline. It's adding an entire new complexity to it that probably should have been there along time ago. John and Hope still being married and not knowing is a shock to me because when Hope was Gina and John was the pawn, we knew they had a past together, but didn't know they were married. We only knew they were lovers. Stefano kept this secret from them and yes, Alice may have been apart of that secret as well. But I can't help but think there is more this story and everyone needs to wait and see.

I love what MarDar as everyone seems to be calling them has done. THEY have given the characters heart again, confliction of their actions, character! For so many years, characters on Days and as well as other soaps have been written out of character and so shallow! The writers here have given characters dimensions and flaws letting you know that everyone has flaws and makes mistakes, sometimes not learning from them until the consequence of their actions are revealed. I think it's refreshing. To me if more soaps would have really gone back to the way soaps and characters were originally written and need to be written, then they would possibly still be on today instead of being left with just the 4 I'm so grateful to still have on air!

The problem for so many years and probably the last decade or part is writers begin to write for just flash, gimmick, plot, and shock value to get a jolt in ratings and were successful nonetheless, but look at the state of the soap after it. Little was added or developed into anything new or longterm to help carry the characters on or the show. It achieved the ultimate goal and that was a bump or rise in the ratings. I'm not saying these type of stunts were bad, I'm saying that it didnt continue to drive story for the characters involved or affect other characters on the show.

In all honesty, I could talk about this all day and everyday! Guess you know how passionate I am in regards to my soaps. But I'll say this...it's disheartening to always hear or read negative thoughts or calling characters and the people who portray them names because one is dissatisfied with the show. Let me be CLEAR, I'm not saying you can't dislike something that you see or how a storyline is turning out or even express opinions, but it's a whole lot better when we as fans discuss ideas or think of something that could have been added to a storyline to make it better. I love it when we all put our creative thoughts and ideas together to improve upon something. It just reveals how passionate we are about the genre. Love you all!

For some reason Days refuses to deal with the fact that whats killing the show is that the current writing makes no sense. They can bring back as many beloved characters as they want, but until the writing begins to actually reflect the real essence of who the characrers are and not just shock value ratings stunts, the show will continue to sink.

GH seems to be holding up fine in the season to date average.

Next week will probably be huge year to year losses bc that was the week of Sonny and Brenda wedding.

Hopefully the buzz around Robin's death and the upcoming returnees boost the numbers.

In the loving arms of his wife, Dr. Marlena Evans, John took his last breath at the end of the June 2 episode, after suffering devastating internal injuries during a lab explosion. The iconic character went out as he lived — a hero. Sensing the fans’ devastation on Monday, Marlena’s portrayer Deidre Hall posted this simple-but-powerful message to fans on Instagram: “I know. I know. Hardest day ever.”

    • Now coming into June...well...   I knew it was coming but I didn't like the start to the next round of Dani/Bill/Hayley. As the 3 A plots from the start of the show (The SilkPress storyline and Martin's Secret being the other two), it needed to be benched for a while to develop those characters and allow other characters and storylines to grow. 3 months in, Hayley is the weak link, Dani is still divisive, but not boring, and Bill has been making his mark with some plots faster than others. So last week seeing the story starting to loop back around to them with Hayley's potential pregnancy, I honestly had mixed feelings.   I get it. The SilkPress storyline is currently in aftermath/next turn mode, so it has to be moved into a C plot position. Moreso if we want to keep the very talented Miss Trish around. And I love how clever the writers are being with the storyline. They give us enough in the episodes and are still playing out beats to keep the appetite fed. I don't feel like anyone is being dumbed down to keep her around. And Trish is giving nuances in her alone scenes with NuTed. I shouldn't care for a clear psycho, but she be selling it. That said...I wish they had given us a little more of the Martin's Secret storyline in the last week of the month though I loved the game of cat and mouse Bill did on Martin and Smitty to keep the storyline alive and active after it had a nice build beginning of May and vanished for a week mid-May. And it appears like it's about to go back to the backburner as an A plot which of course leaves the A plot of Dani/Bill/Hayley.   I am probably in the minority as someone who is not anti-Dani here and even she annoyed the heck out of me last week. In character true, but I just felt like there was a way to get all of that across without it feeling like...as I've said before...one step forward, two steps back...and have it feel organic. I liked Hayley got a little bit of edge with her, but she still ain't no match for Dani. And it reminds to be seen if we should be going back to that well of a story yet.   Now about today's show...   And I thought Tracy was bad! lol. But YES. Sharon has been worth the wait. And so has Anita's story! Finally having TT in the limelight. This has been a nice slow burn for me and a nice B plot. And the actress is good. The wig is giving. And her holding what Anita's secret is over her head and threatening to tell Vernon....Ooooo...that is what I was waiting for.    And speaking of bad...I thought Eva vs Kat was a great rivalry. But I am loving the rivalry that is growing with 'Nancy Drew' and Silk Press Sheila! They both get good licks in and are so cunning with each other. And I definitely have liked that since the anniversary party, that it has been growing. Now that Kat has been proven right, she has not backed down. And neither has SilkPress. And we got a 'Ms. B@tch' moment, too? LOVE. Eva coming up with a trump card was delicious and so 90s Sami Brady. GOOD. And the coda with Jacob and the expert...YES. The Silk Press storyline has been the best paced on the show so I love that the aftermath of the anniversary party continues to be so...barring one flaw...well for me. Not enough Nicole's POV.   And I like the C plots on display. And by that, I mean Chelsea with Vernon. And it made me wonder what the writers have plan for her love life now that the throuple is over with. I was watching her and going awww.   And of course the mystery man around Martin. I am starting to wonder if he really even works at the country club given how he made a run for it. That would be a twist.    Speaking of Martin...good to see him in scenes with his father and mother.    I'm getting used to NuTed.    I felt the last episode of May was a bit of a letdown, but this was a very nice recovery.
    • Unless they cut him, I'd think he would stay. Surely, he didn't choose to return because he expected high quality. I figure he gets to work when he wants and spend a lot of time doing his own thing and being with his family.
    • The writing for Liz and Lucky is indeed terrible, but if JJ signed a one-year contract he may be gone in a couple of months anyway. Perhaps they’re just cutting their losses.
    • That would be his older sister Stacey. She was the center of a big story back in the day. Nola was out to snag medical student Kelly Nelson, who she thought would provide her with the life she craved. He was in love with a girl named Morgan. Nola plotted to get pregnant by him, but couldn't manage to get him in bed. So she seduced Floyd, who thought she was in love with him. When she knew she was pregnant, she got Kelly drunk and made sure he woke up next to her in bed. Kelly believed her when she told him he made her pregnant. They were about to elope to Las Vegas, but her mother ratted her out and Kelly abandoned her. She almost married Floyd, but jilted him at the altar. She went to work for Quint. When the baby came prematurely, Kelly saved both of them. She named the baby Kelly Louise to irk Morgan, who was now married to Kelly. When she fell in love with Quint, she had a change of heart over all the trouble she had caused, so she changed the baby's name to Anastasia Louise, shortened to Stacey. Quint was a devoted stepfather and Henry treated her like his own granddaughter.  After Quint and Nola leave SF, I believe Stacey is never seen again. Which is odd, you would think they would have brought her back with Nola and J, but they never did.
