Unpopular Opinions: 2012 Edition

  • Member

I'll go first:

B&B

- While not perfect, the show is currently in the best shape it's been in since 2003.

Y&R

- Genie Francis is terrific as Genevieve Atkinson. I know she wasn't well liked in her first few months on her show, but I'm currently watching June 2011 episodes and I LOVE her campy take on the character, despite the overall wretchedness of the storyline. Although I never saw Francis on GH, so I don't have that to compare it to. I'd love to see her on B&B in a Sally Spectra/Jackie Marone type role.

- Phyllis is one of very few characters to actually flourish under MAB (save for the Lucy custody madness). And of course, I still consider La Stafford to be the best actress in daytime.

- Maura West was AT LEAST as miscast as Diane as Shari Shattuck was as Ashley.

There is nothing derailing this thread. It's a controversial topic that could also be an unpopular one... Thoughts like these just tend to imply that posters can't disagree with each other or express different views from the norm and it reads a lot like if you don't agree with the consensus just shut up which is just ridiculous quite honestly. This is a discussion board - about soaps, I would imagine occasionally that disagreements and debate would arise. When conversation stops the forum dies.

This isn't the thread to cause debates this is the thread where people can post unpopular opinions. All you did was bring your same arguemnet over fro mthe GH thread to this one.

Where was all this ire when Guza was penning things awfully? There seems to be so much more animosity over Cartini when it was Guza who destroyed the very thing that made GH what it was.

Bingo.

Daytime Confidential, Serial Drama, among others, DR, etc. have a lot of very positive comments about the show.

I'm not sure what DR is, but I'm referring specifically to the message boards commenters. They've been on constant "OLTL/Cartini sucks" mode since the year began.

Thank you.

This thread isn't called "Debate Over UO's". Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Conversation, obviously, is fine. But some posters just don't seem to get that when someone doesn't agree with them - pounding their opinion over their head isn't going to change their mind.

Not true as SOC is a Cartini lovefest

And obviously people have already expressed their opinions on if they agreed or not before on what was deemed unpopular. Notice how it's only a problem for you because some disagreed with your perception of Cartini. rolleyes.gif

Anyway, you still don't seem to be getting my point, but that's fine.

Moving on:

All My Children UO:

I hated Babe even though I never watched her. Not because of the kind of character that she was or the things that she did, but because her name was Babe. I couldn't and still can't get over the fact a grown woman character was walking around with a stupid name like that. (And yes, I'm well aware that soaps are notorious for stupid names like Suede and Tawny, but "Babe" as a given name just set my teeth on edge.)

It wasnt her given name. Her first name was Arabella

I liked Babe for the most part but thought it was a huge mistake having her go by that name. LOL. She should've just gone by her actual name Arabella or a different nickname, like Bella!

This is news to me, considering that the same sorry folks create OLTL hate threads every hour on the hour to the point where the (biased) moderators on that ship have deleted posts/threads/accounts of those who've called them out.

Either way, I did say that I am moving on and away from this in this thread and keeping in spirit with the purpose of this thread.

IDA. It sets her apart bc no one else was named Babe. Girl was trailer trash and Arabella or even Bella sounds too sophisticated for what her character originally was intended to be

She was a good girl?

No it was a joke because another poster here always refers to her as that. Babe was no good girl.

Well, that just makes it worse because they chose to forgo the usage of a lovely name so that they could call her "Babe" - a nickname (not to be confused with the term of endearment that it is meant to be) that shouldn't be used on anyone over the age of 12.

Oh ok.. I thought I might have been watching a diff Babe. Lol
