Members RogerNewcomb
I really, really wanted the prom episode on there to at least have more Rick but with the music, it can't be included. There was another episode I had included that got bumped last minute due to music as well which included Rick and a great scene with Grant-Chris Bernau. Members Soapsuds
Just ordered the DVD. I think what is costly is not the DVD but the shipping charges. I get all my shipping free on Amazon....I think 4.95 is a bit steep for shipping..JMO of course....with all the sales that are being made I am sure the shipping charges could be lowered. It's done all the time on Ebay. Ditto It's nice to see Jarrod Ross in the DVD collection. I liked him as Phillip. I was bummed when he was aged. Members greens_dupres
Really wish this was 10 episodes instead of 5- agree with everyone that the price is a little steep with shipping for 5 eps when the 20 ep sets are such a great deal. BUT i am so excited to see Hayden as Lizzie- she was one of the best child actresses ever on soaps. I wish one of her cancer storyline eps was included where Phillip was married to Harley and Beth was secretly pregnant with James, who would save Lizzie. The one where Phillip revealed he was the father as Lizzie took a turn for the worse was one of my favorite GL moments ever. Here's to hoping for more eps (and please please please some old school Michelle/Danny) soon! Thanks soapclassics.
Members DRW50
I'm not surprised most of the interest is in newer stuff, as that's what most have seen. I am so glad you included a 1977 episode. When I get the money together I will definitely be getting this.
Members ~bl~
What do you mean by newer? It is also possible that people who would be interested in the older stuff have left soap fandom, and the fact that these disks even exist is completely unknown. Members RogerNewcomb
I get a lot of emails, and I assume Soap Classics does too, from fans wanting stuff from the last 10 years. I guess since I prefer the oldest possible stuff I figured a lot of other fans did too. But whatever most people want, and will buy, is the direction it will go. With the streaming in addition to the DVDs, hopefully everyone will be able to get the see the shows they want. A year ago, I didn't think anything like this would ever happen so it's amazing we're talking about it.
Members Soapsuds
That would be from 2002 and on...ugh....no to both of those for ATWT and GL. I want the classic stuff from the 80s and early 90s...I havent even touched the newer episodes on the GL and ATWT releases that I have bought......they are just awful memories and too fresh in my memory to watch again......no thanks to those again as a whole DVD relases. I wont be buying if that is the case....whether it makes more sales or not.....sorry
Members ~bl~
The last ten years--that is so odd. I wonder how long these people even watched ATWT and/or GL. And if when they do get a set with their favorite performer featured whether they will buy something else and if they are already customers. So we shall see what happens in the future regardless. Members DRW50
I can see why, in the era of hyper-concentrated fan bases, demands would go more for a modern era. "Manny" and "Jammy" and "Carjack" and "Lusty" and "Peg" and "Pem" and many others. I have little to no interest in seeing anything from the last 10 years. It's a stretch for me to even watch stuff from after about 1995. But now more than ever I see I'm in the minority on that.
Members Soapsuds
I have some episodes of ATWT from 2007. I dont need that on DVD again. I can see those episodes in my own collection that I have taped on DVD. I sometimes find one from 2007 and think how awful the show became and how little time it had left. Members DRW50
Watching the free episode...I never knew Hilary Edson was on this show at this time (she was Eve from 92-95). And she's playing a girl named Tanya...on GH a year or two after this she played a character named Tania. Weird.
Members ~bl~
The hyper-concentrated fan bases most likely discuss it and campaign as they have for years. Another thing is some people haven't watched forever. For example if you ask me what I'd like from the 1980s as I only started watching in the second half of the decade, a lot of things I don't know. That's why I like seeing the older episodes. There isn't only one thing I wish to see, and am all over the board. And I've written about what I do want, but I have a list of about 20/30 things not just 1. I know my opinion is just of one person. I was thinking of another theme I would like... 3 disk set of weddings (yes I know the first sets had weddings), but I'd do a decade break out. And the weddings would not even have to end in marriage, a ceremony be stopped for whatever reason like Reva running out on Kyle or Alan/Roger in the church during Blake/Phillip. Others for GL in the 80s could be Ed/Maureen (either their first or the renewal) Kurt/Mindy Alan/Reva (just for the crazy) Harley/AM India/Phillip...I could go on, but I won't. Considering there have been only 2 weddings from the 90s released (Beth/Phillip and Josh/Reva there is a lot of ground that could be covered there.) Some people may want to see the 1999 remarriage of Josh and Reva. But you could also have Frank/Eleni or sadly not Hamp and Gilly due to Roberta Flack though the wedding was awesome, Billy and Nadine's drunk wedding, Holly being kidnapped by Daniel/aborted wedding mess, Harley/Mallet, Bridget interrupting Julie and Dylan, Nick and Mindy, Blake/Ross, Roger marrying Alex, Jenna or Dinah, (never saw the Alex wedding, but Jenna and Dinah were both insane events), Dinah/Hart or an early Manny wedding would be examples. For 2000+, I was thinking Cassie/Richard, if an earlier Manny wedding wasn't included one from after 2000, Tammy/Sandy being interrupted by Jonathan, Bill/Lizzie wedding, Frank/Natalia where she ran out, when Phillip came back and stopped Beth/Alan (three things from the last year if people want more recent material, though I would only choose one for variety's sake). Josh/Reva 2002 (depending if 1999 is on the 90s), Blake/Ross Christmas (if the 1994 one wasn't in the 90s disc), Bill and Olivia's shotgun nuptials in jail, Alan being shot by Ashlee after he married Doris. Those are just the ones I thought of off the top of my head. Not every episode I mentioned I believe is a classic, but I would enjoy seeing more wedding episodes. Then again that may just be me. Members RogerNewcomb
I had forgotten about Hillary being on too. The prom episode was June 20, 1983. That happened on a Monday and the Quint/Nola wedding from the first DVD happened that Friday.
