I second that. I loved Sonni Solita stuff...I also hated Fletch with Alex.....lol

I remember liking them as a couple back in 82 but now seeing them again on the dvd I dont know why....lol

I remember having a crush on Kelly but now i wonder why too....lol....

What was hot in the early 80s isn't sexy now? That's how I look at it.

The 1993 episode had a lot of garbage in it, (haven't watched it completely, but other than the one issue it wasn't remarkable.) One of those episodes where some of the parts were greater than the whole as other parts dragged down the episode's feel.

Agreed..the main story was Ed and Maureen. The whole week did very well in the rating I recall. The later episodes in the week were much better than the episode on the DVD. Seriously JFP was EP and the show was pure crap. I noticed there was no Reva or Josh...wasnt that the time Reva went crazy with I am coming Bud?? I think it was 91 ...

That pretty much describes a lot of JFP's run. I couldn't even make it through the 1992 episode which was posted on Youtube this past week. I think it's also why I felt so alienated from the show starting in 1993.

Reva was gone from summer 90 to spring 95. Josh was gone from early 91 to late 93.

I'm crazy passionate about that era of GL, but Nick/Mindy/Eve was the one major story that didn't work for me. There are some other couples I didn't care for, but when a whole triangle annoys you that isn't great. I agree with Soapsuds while I understand why the Ed/Maureen scenes were chosen, otherwise the rest of the week was better.

Yes this period when Reva and Josh were off canvas was a huge time for others. It was the last time frame that Billy was treated like a leading man and not as their support squad.

By this time GL was second fiddle to ATWT. Except for the week where GL did overtake ATWT in the ratings because of the Ed and Maureen story. Had that story not been played out I couldnt see GL touching ATWT in the ratings in 93. I just cant believe how many supporting non talent actors were part of the show in 93. I know many hated Reva but i liked her. Reva and Josh omission during that time is very noticeable. Seriously, we have JC with 2 horrid actors and a good actor but not much to do.

The problem with Nick was none of the women in his life were ever allowed to have a personality, unless personality = desperate and crazy. Eve was much better with Ed, and Mindy was much better with anyone else.

It's interesting because I felt like Billy was mostly a foil for Nadine and Vanessa, which did work - I think Billy was best as a strong supporting player who pushed the stories of others.

I can see why people hate Reva. For whatever reason, I liked her (although I couldn't watch Zimmer and Pelphrey yelling at each other). I think she probably would have been a bad fit for this time of GL. The biggest problem is GL was fast moving away from the quirky and complex community of Springfield and into JFP's own personal playpen.

I also think GL was hit and miss with new characters at this time - David, Kat, Bridget were good additions (Bridget in particular) but there was a lot of weak stuff in the early 90's, in terms of new characters. When you think about what Jenna or Eve, or even Eleni, could have been, compared to what they were...

I did like Eleni though, and Eve.

I preferred Lujak over Nick. That was the only time I liked VI as an actor. Nadine reminded me a lot of Vera from Alice. She was a dingbat...lol. At the time I felt GL had become to campy...meaning not a very dramatic soap...ATWT was more dark..dramatic....I didnt feel there was a need for Nadine although I sure did miss her when she was killed off.

I loved Nadine at the time, she was so selfish but she had a big heart, so vulnerable. The "triangle" with Vanessa and Nadine over Billy was one of those where I liked both women and even though I didn't want Nadine/Billy together I wanted Nadine to be happy.

It's just too bad they had her become obsessed with Buzz.

Oh I didnt like Reva at the end. I hated all the Reva/Jonathan stuff. I hated Jenna and Eve....I didnt warm up to Jenna until the end of her run. Eleni was such a wasted character. I liked Eleni but yet again she reminded me of Nadine....no brain/mind.
