In yet another fading year for soaps, which characters stood out for you, in a good or bad way? Which characters defined the year for you?

If you have more than 5, feel free to list more.

Erica Kane and her evil lookalike Jane Campbell

David Hayward, since he was involved in just about every storyline this year.

1. Angie Hubbard. She really was the heart of AMC at the end.

2. JR Chandler. He was the brutal reality of AMC at the end. Jacob Young did a wonderful job with some material that was very shoddy. Yet some of the material, like his extremely damaged relationship with Dixie, and his final rejection of her, had been a long time coming.

3.Tina Lord Roberts. She was only back for a few months and yet she effortlessly showed how timeless she is. Just an endearing, wonderful character. Tina could come back at any time or place and fit right into the fabric of Llanview.

4. Cord Roberts. A truly kind and wonderful man, an anomaly to the mouthbreathers and plastic abs that make up modern soaps. He was also a spotlight on the demise of the Buchanan family.

5. Diane Jenkins. No character better epitomized the arrogant, spiteful, disrespectful, choppy, regressive, reactive, and just plain shittiness of Maria "honoring history" Bell's writing. How fitting that the truly nasty treatment Maura West received came at a time of all time ratings lows, with viewers fleeing away from Ma Bell as quickly as they could.

I totally agree with Farah Fath on Dirty Soap, or as I like to call her "Lip-Glossin'-Middle-Finger-Wavin'-Fath"
