I always group together Alexander Nikos and Anne O'Donnell. I guess they were not concurrent, but conceptually casting a previous actor in a new role opposite the same romantic interest touched the same nerve.
I suppose killing Lucas off when John Aprea decided to leave made sense in the storyline and gave Felicia and Lorna something to play that made logical and emotional sense.
Killing off Frankie when Alice Barrett would not otherwise have intended to leave was short-sighted and bringing Anne on as Frankie's double felt like an admission of failure that it was too late to correct. The way it ultimately played out I was satisfied that Cass wound up with Lila, but I think that I would have been most interested if Anne had really had no connection to Frankie or Fax Newman and Cass had realised seeing her every day that he was not ready to commit to anyone else -- while Anne would be more interested in someone else and would not be chasing Cass or mothering Charlie.
