Members AllMyDaysatGH
Just watched this episode. The Bianca/JR scenes were incredible. Just SO good. LOVED that soft moment when JR was reminiscing about how him, Bianca, & Kendall used to be close. "I miss it". He also admitted he had a crush on Kendall But LMAO at the ending. That was awful! Erica & Bianca trying to keep JR from leaving, Erica grabbing that little deer bookend or whatever that was hilarious. JR jumping out the window was so ridiculous! I'm really sad my DVR mysteriously deleted the episode before this one, which had Babe telling JR the truth WTH!
Members AllMyDaysatGH
LOL at Erica and Brooke's bitch fight! Erica had some good quotes "You smelled bachelor blood and as usual came running like a dog to my scrap table." "And you are trolling hallways for men. You'd do better to go upstairs where they're unconscious." "And you have such a wonderful gift for swooping down like a buzzard and pecking at my leftovers." I remember being appalled with Josh for running around PV with that bloody shirt on...glad he stopped by Kendall's and took a shower & changed. LOL! As usual loved their scenes. Jeff looks awful, is written for awful, EVERYTHING about him is just AWFUL. Just, NO to everything. I wish a different actor had been cast for this role. LOL. I think it definitely was just to fill time. His exit is coming up at the end of Nov, I think they were trying to just give David stuff to do to fulfill the rest of VI's contract David was so, so played out at this point. His lurking was ridiculous. Agreed. They had it right with Kendall at this point. That scene with Adam was so good, I loved when Kendall said "Josh is a Kane; go after him, it's the same as going after me, my sister, or my mother. You make a move on him, we make a move on you. Got it?" LOVE! At this point I am so glad the Satin Slayer story is coming up in Dec. I hope we get to the end of next January so we can get to her death by pancakes! It was an awful way to go out but Dixie is/was so annoying, I am really just ready for her to go! She really IS out of place. This return was botched! The scene where she confronted Babe was good though. CM is no doubt a great Actress!
Members AllMyDaysatGH
VI has an interview in the latest issue of SOD and these were his comments about the end of his first stint on AMC (which is where were at now)...ITA with him! “I’ve been pretty much fortunate throughout the run, except for a couple years here or there where the character wasn’t being well-written, like the end of my first long stint on the show…..I just didn’t get it," he shrugs of that unfortunate era." I didn’t know where they were going with him and he was turning into a very one-dimensional villain, which he never was. It was a shame to watch the disintegration of the character at that time. But when they brought me back, they wrote him wonderfully again. And that’s when I won the Emmy…..It was good stuff."
Members ellabelle
I never understood why they had Josh and David as adversaries. They both wanted Babe away from JR because they both thought he was dangerous, they were both doctors, and they both loved Babe. Plus Josh had previously been involved in all sorts of nefarious plots like drugging Erica and framing Amanda for it so he was obviously willing to engage in less than ethical behavior to get what he wanted. They would have made a great team, and it would have been so fun watching Erica try to bond with a son who was in turn bonding with a man she hated. Plus the Satin Slayer storyline started right after David left town. It made no sense at all to me that David would get pissed off and run off from Pine Valley and stay away like that when his daughter was being threatened by a serial killer. It would have made far more sense that David would stick around and help Josh come up with and carry out that plan to fake Babe's death.
Members EricMontreal22
I think he's the only one of the actors who has ever praised Pratt--even indirectly--but I do agree with this statement.
Members DRW50
I'm up to last Friday's episode and am still wondering if this was the end for David. It just went on and on, about how Dixie had betrayed him and now she felt his pain, rinse and repeat. The best scenes were probably when he was threatening JR in the hospital and JR tried to choke him. And a lot of repetition with Babe too, she's going to fight for JR, fight for her son, etc. I did like the scenes where Kendall convinced Babe to stay at Fusion. I also like the Krystal/Adam relationship, even though I really shouldn't. Julia is so out of place. I wonder why they brought her back at all. Members Angela
There was a small period where I thought they really could have found her niche. I felt Julia and Kendall had the perfect love-hate element that they ruined with K/G. I also felt the chemistry between Julia and Ryan really worked. They never did much with either relationship. The latest episode was very funny between Erica receiving her surprise delivery and Kendall learning the Kane's have been banned from the Valley Inn for life (and the button freak out). Members EricMontreal22
Aww I missed the Valley Inn in the last years... I loved Julia back in the day, and was excited when she came back, but she truly was wasted.
Members DRW50
I'm not watching that much of the Soapnet OLTL episodes, but I'm watching some of the clips of Dorian posted online, and I really wonder what happened between this time and the last two or three years of the show. Robin's work, even in lousy stories penned by Higley, seems so much more refined and quality. I'm not saying I disliked her later work - some of the OTT stuff was just what was needed (like her reactions to David dumping her at the altar last year), but some other moments were just too much. It's a shame so much of Dorian, beyond "wacky", seemed to disappear.
Members Cheap21
Julia came back way too angry. I guess it made sens given her story but it made her very unbearable. She came on at a bad time as she had just missed Maria and Anita was marginalized. She didnt really have any ties to the show and they failed to really establish any new ones while she was around. I really felt they should have recasted Noah for her even if it was to usher her out as her entire stint was a big waste
Members SFK
On top of the "zany/wacky/fun" shite with David she was increasingly given, RS also began to adjust her performances, which really did not help the situation. She had a very telling moment on the hotline where she said she caught some of herself on the show one afternoon--she never watches herself--and apologized to her listeners for what she thought was dull, lackluster acting. She wasn't super happy with how little she was working and with what she was being given when she did get a chance to work and she felt it unfair that that may have been translating to her work. So she vowed to begin giving it her all again. Sigh. IMO, that came off as her not trusting herself and trying way too hard and turning in some hammy, OTT performances. At her best, RS is one of the most devastatingly elegant actresses ever, and it's absolutely effortless. She didn't need to kick it up to 11 for anyone's sake, the audience's, her own, and certainly not the show's.
Members AllMyDaysatGH
Catching up on some episodes. Man I forgot how bad of an actor Justin Bruening was Awful. And I really hated the sanctimonious Martins at this time. Tad/Jamie - UGH. And...I love Kendall. I was LMAO at her utter excitement over Babe packing her bags @ Fusion and wanting to give her shares back. She couldn't wait for Babe to get out It was nice how she ended up convincing Babe to stay though. I have always loved & remembered that scene where Bianca forced her into a hug afterwards! Loved Josh telling Kendall & Bianca he was done with Babe and moving on. Bianca was so annoying trying to get him to change his mind. Ugh! The scene where Emma was ripped out of Annie's arms and taken away was HEARTBREAKING. MCE always shined on this show as an actress. And I have to say I loved Ryan & Annie together. They were sweet. Members DRW50
I actually like Ryan and Annie together too in these episodes. The frequent reminders of his days as a con artist are a good way to show the evolution of the character, and his relationship with Annie moves very slowly. Everything around this Jeff/Erica/Jack story is good - the breakup of Erica and Jack, in spite of their love for each other (the scene where she was going home for Thanksgiving and then she saw that Jack had sent her luggage to the Valley In, was great), the conflicts with the family and how this affects Sean and Lily, Josh bonding more with his sisters and mother. Too bad Jeff himself is such a dullard who has no chemistry with Erica. I enjoyed most of the Thanksgiving episode, especially when Erica stopped Jack from doing the toast and tried to have Jeff take over, and Myrtle hurriedly said grace herself! Eileen Herlie was such a treasure, I loved all her scenes with Zach during the dinner. It's too bad David's last weeks on the show were spent as a walking deux ex machina, conveniently knowing all kinds of paternities and plot points and threatening to tell but never actually telling. It's too bad they used the death of Leora for such a cheap reason. The idea of a story about an addict who refuses any pain medication certainly is interesting, but when there was so much misery going on in Pine Valley at the time, it's just overkill with JR. And I don't think it's EVER a good idea to have episodes devoted to someone writhing and screaming in pain. The one bright spot is his rebuilding his relationship with Jamie, although clearly that won't last. I also liked his scenes when Bianca visited him. So this is Zarf. I've only seen him in a few clips. I know he was popular (?) as a camp figure but I just can't stand most of what I've seen so far. The dialogue and the characterization all seem so dated, the acting is so hammy, and it all feels like another bad knockoff of Sex and the City. I was cringing, again and again, when Dani and Erin had to lust after him and throw themselves at him. Why? It was degrading. The scene of them randomly deciding, along with Simone, to take off their clothes, wasn't a lot better. Maybe that's why the Satin Slayer targeted them - for horrible taste. Babe just seems exhausted as a character, in spite of some very strong acting from Alexa Havins. The more I see of the story with Krystal having Tad's baby the more I hate it. Really bad idea IMO. Her having a child with Adam would have brought so much more story conflict, centered on the fantastic chemistry between Eakes and Canary. Dixie is still on the outside of stories. It's sad. I did like her scenes with JR when he was injured.
Members ellabelle
ITA with you. I wish they'd cast someone else as Jeff. It would have been far more believable. I LOVED that Thanksgiving dinner. There were so many great lines. I loved Amanda asking Lily if she was okay, and Lily saying this was her third Thanksgiving, she'd brought earplugs. I loved Erica telling Brooke "You're here. Fun never had a chance." I loved Bianca and Kendall telling Josh that he was defending Erica to them and that meant he was officially one of the family - and Josh responding by saying that he needed a drink. The Kane-Montgomery Thanksgiving dinners were so incredibly awesome.
Members AllMyDaysatGH
Simone Literally right after Thanksgiving the show took a really dark turn w/the beginning of the Satin Slayer story line. It's interesting watching this again, as I don't remember much of it. I do remember being CONVINCED that Zarf was the killer & I hated him SO MUCH! Watching again and knowing it's not him, I'm into his character more. The Zarf stuff is OTT but makes me laugh. I enjoyed Zarf & Bianca and all of his scenes at Fusion so far. I love Kendall's annoyance with him We got some nice sequences in the Simone death episodes, Kendall/Danielle/Erin/Bianca/Babe huddling & crying i loved everyone's reactions - especially Kendall's "Did Simone know how important she was to me?" Erin's breakdown at ConFusion was noteworthy as well. Josh/Danielle I liked how that one episode started with everyones different nightmares. David's exit sucked but it sure jump started quite a few new storys. LOL at him telling Kendall out of nowhere that Ryan was Emma's dad While I hate Kendall's jealousy over Ryan/Annie/Emma, I really loved that Ryan/Kendall scene where he was telling her that him & Annie are dating. CM & AM undoubtedly had/have chemistry and that scene really showcased it I think. That was a great scene when Babe broke down in Tad's arms at the Chandler Mansion. Alexa Havins rocked it! I keep wishing Krystal's baby wasn't Tad's. Things would've turned out so different (and for the better IMO...) LOL at the Di/Aiden/Amanda/Del/Jamie/Julia filler scenes. I loved the Thanksgiving episodes a lot - Erica was hilarious.
