OMFG at Josh eying that chick up and down. I can just imagine the old ladies' jaws on the ground.

I can see my jheri-curled aunts bobbing their heads up and down to the "popcorn" theme too. I might play that for them the next time they come around, just to get 'em started.

Your aunts sound fun :D

P&G really liked to point out when their shows won awards it seemed (and fair enough)-- "And now the award winning GL" Of course the ABC soaps didn't have announcers the way the P&G and Bell soaps seemed to. Was it GL that also had end credits in front of a photo of their Emmy? :D Shameless lol

DAYS had an illustration of an Emmy at the start of their closing credits in early 79.

I hated AMC's white opening. I remember my mom, aunt and myself being shocked and pissed about the change. Haha! There really was no need to change the 1990 opening. They could have just updated the visuals and music in 2000 (for the 30th Anniversary).

OhhhhMG, 0:09-0:19, those ten seconds totally made my night. Perfection. Nola is a trip. And Josh looks like Christopher Reeve. Who is the dude who busts a move @0:14?

The guy dancing with the girl in the red dress @0:23, I'm pissing myself. laugh.png

I loved when they released the 2002 yellow opening as it was very reminiscent of the 90s opening with an updated modern twist

That one lasted far too short and was imo AMC's last great opening.

I get a little snicker out of this opening because my friend got me an autographed pic of JC as sort of a joke and that is definitely his handwriting.

That's Greg Beecroft/Tony Reardon (his brother played the guy Brooke briefly romanced before learning he'd run down Laura Cudahy).

The guy later is Floyd Parker.

The main reason people went crazy when GL changed its opening slightly in 1996, was that up until that time they had one version with the entire cast in it. They altered the music, and split the cast in two. This was done without warning and the people online who worked for the soap magazines didn’t know what was going on either. They showed the new version with the same part of the cast two days in a row, and that version didn’t include Zaslow, Garrett and others. After the uproar, the program said oh we changed the music back, which wasn’t true. I didn’t like that version of HOTL because it sounded like a bad synth. If they wanted sax, they should have used the rendition that Vince Williams did as that was gorgeous.

GL's disco openings are hilarious in a good way. I wonder what went through the minds of the people involved when they were filming their bits.

It ran for about a year and a half I think.

Here's an earlier version.

For years I've always wondered who exactly is that most unhappy bride at 0:10?

I always thought those were just random scenes in the disco opening. I think GL always used random scenes. I guess most of the soaps did, aside from Ryan's Hope.

Here are a few vocals of the song.

That's Nola, shortly before she stopped her wedding to Floyd, as she realized she'd rather be a single mother than marry out of obligation.

Thanks Carl I thought she looked a lot like Brown but its such a surreal shot.
