I'm reminded of when my parents bought their house and the sellers tried to sell them a bunch of furniture and art work. My parents bought some, and the sellers practically gave them the rest anyway. I guess if AMC bought a RACK of clothes for the future and they gave Prospect a good deal on them, that makes sense. It just seems weird when you don't know what characters will even be staying on. So Prospect has a bunch of clothes for their wardrobe bank which may or may not fit actors down the line, when they could just shoot this thing Guerrilla style and have wardrobe run to Kohls and Dress Barn on an as needed basis per arc.

It's almost useless to believe anything being reported about this venture, as we seem to get something else that refutes the previous report.

My own personal view of this is that yes, things are moving online more and more, but in terms of critical mass, it's just not quite there yet. I think PP will struggle for audience numbers for awhile, maybe a few years, unless they set their expectations low to begin with and try to grow from there.

Just throwing it out there... even though I'm pretty much ignored lately, for some odd reason... but why is everyone assuming that Prospect Park's online venture consists solely of All My Children and One Life to Live? Wouldn't there be other sources of entertainment this company would be pursuing -- established or new -- that could build them a repertoire? It's just me, but I doubt an online organization would invest its future in TWO CANCELLED DAYTIME DRAMAS... without anything else on the side.

Where will the OLTL actors be taping when Prospect Park takes over?

Thanks for answering. :) Without a specific studio location (a city, state or just which coast?), I'm wondering how the Prospect people can offer a job to any actor? Until then, all contracts with OLTL are still ending just before Thanksgiving. I guess the actors just have to put their futures on hold until a location is selected and they are offered a job.

No they don't. They can move on, audition and look for the next gig. If and when PP comes to them with an offer, then they can consider it but only a fool would wait on it, especially for what is essentially the soap version of Pets.com.

That's exactly what I suspect any of the actors who are savvy enough, or have a decent agent, are doing. I still get the feeling too that it would be pretty easy (depending on location) to have one job and still do the websoap--I seriously doubt we'll get more than three episodes a week, if that.

 You're like the doomsayer of all these threads. What is there to impress? OK, the only way they could not be impressing you so far is lack of official information, *that* is justified. But to follow rumours like this? First of all, I already have some friends who tell me AMC is gonna go out (this isn't a spoiler IMHO at all so I'm not even bothering, sorry guys, with spoiler warnings) a Dynasty/Days style mass shoot out. Bullshit. Broderick/Nixon/Walsh would never do that. If they do kill off a bunch of characters, which I'm still sceptical about, it will be done, I'd lay money on this, in a disaster or something at least a BIT more keeping with AMC's tone and history.

But really to get so wraped up in these rumous as to say PP, who are basically new to the internet, seemed to be the only ones willing to even gamble on the idea of continuing these shows online, are not impressing you? I am concerned, I grant you that. But I'm also not gonna condemn the one company who sees some sort of potential future for these shows as this huge "unimpressive" thorn in the side of soap operas.

If they manage to secure some of the crew from the ABC versions, then I think a Jan launch will be no problem. I still don't expect a Sep one...

I know the cast reportedly adore her, but hasn't anyone clued in to how little she's done for the show (and next to nothing positive) by now??

Agreed on all accounts, except LB has already done such a marked turnaround in quality on AMC (which by no means is perfect, but) that I'd like her there, at least for the initial transition. As for JHC, it's not even just money issues, back in the day, the EP often came up with the overall vision for a show creatively. JHC has no vision that I've ever seen--even Burke before her had much more of a clear picture of the show. MAYBE JHC will surprise me when she's un-shackeled from Frons, but...

Yes, and no. A friend of mine who is a HUGE OLTL fan, and despises AMC, said that he thought AMC fans were lucky in a way. OLTL he felt was slowly but surely replacing core characters with newbie characters, and he sees it (OK this is a bit of a conspiracy theory) as a sure way to build the show in such a way that by Jan it'll be essentialy be cheaper costing new characters, and young ones.

Gotta love the integrity of Jamey and his journalism! Wow he seems to be digging himself a grave, first with many fans, but now with the casts...

HA thaks - and you're right. It goes back to that OLTL thread where people suggested TSJ should have quit his role out of principle if he didn't like some of the material. I think people forget that actors, as much as (most of them) love their craft, also realize how lucky they are to get a paying job.

I feel like it's a tossup. Some people, myself included, have felt that AMC was going to be the test case where PP could work out all the bugs then PP could move on to OLTL. Of course there was also talk that ABC was so impressed with OLTL's magical, mystical ratings bump that they were keeping it in reserve in case one of the new shows failed.

I think that both shows will launch at the same time. AMC may get a few extra weeks of prep time but I think the shows are considered a package deal.
