If I were in charge of PP, I'd look for new writers aggressively since I'd want to revamp the shows at least somewhat. THey need to look at bibles from several people for each show and see who has the best visit to take things into the future. If that's somebody with daytime experience that's fine, but I'd liek them to look elsewhere as well. They can always balance it out with an experienced CO-HW and the already existing breakdown writers who know the history of these shows.

There was a time when Douglas Marland was just a former soap actor and Harding Lemay was a novelist. And back then in a lot of those cases the writer had never seen the show before. It's a risk worth taking.

I wholeheartedly agree. One of the things that made the initial PP announcement so exciting to me was the... prospect that we'd finally be able to shake this usual suspects-incestuous soap web of bts talent who played a hand in taking the industry down to begin with. PP knows from primetime, they have experience in the game, and I would be looking at promising young writers on staff at some of the more successful cable series who are interested in serialized drama and are willing and eager to learn the soap ropes.

I always feel like such a weirdo because I basically got hooked on my two all-time favorite soaps by way of Passanante's writing.

Ha but at AMC that was still when Agnes Nixon was coHW right? there was a lot of good stuff there at the time.

I find it shocking PP isn't advertising AMC's new home during AMC's final weeks.

Well PP seems clueless about what's happening--but would ABC have allowed them to? I suppose money is money... But I'm reminded of when Buffy moved from the WB to UPN, the WB did all in their power to make people think Buffy was ending (including a Thank You message or something at the end of the season finale which could be seen as grateful, but more so came off as trying to make people think the show was over). I had a friend who was a casual viewer and paid no attention to online forums who was sure it HAD finished for good.

It proves is there is fresh talent out there who could do a decent job. Frons never hired him on after that which is a good thing.

Prospect Park is not impressing me whatsoever if they are looking at the same pool of tired talent we have seen for years.

Yeah I agree (and what happened to Rao? Wasn't he a long time soap fan?) , although obviously, at least at first, it makes sense to keep some of the same people on board as consultants or co-HW--as there'll prob be a lot of other aches and pains involved with adjusting to a new format anyway.

Jean Passanante is an ungodly hack. That being said, I'll wait for some actual facts and not vague rumors, thank you. I could live with her still being on staff - she never seemed to do much damage in a staff position - but not HW.

Agreed (I didn't realize she was also AW's last headwriter, co HWing the last year with leah laiman).

I've officially lost hope. Again.

Why? These are online rumors with absolutely no source. I don't believe them at all.

Cameron Mathison teased that there would be a big all my children announcement made on GMA this morning and the announcement was that Cameron had now been given permission to reveal that he and the other actors has now been approached by Prospect Park.

I was kinda expecting more.

Me, too. Cam made it sound more interesting than it actually was. Either way, at least this finally got accomplished!

It doesn't surprise me at all. Mathison has a TV/primetime profile which makes a cable sale for these shows viable. That's the same reason PP signed Ted King at OLTL.

I have no objection to CM in a proper place on the show. He just hasn't been in one in years.

Anybody else getting the willies that Mathison is already in good with the folks at PP?

Totally.

So was all this "Nobody I know has been contacted..." stuff we got from actors purposeful disinformation or just a bad response to a gag order? Because while I understand these actors wanting/needing to respond to the constant inquiries, I hope from here on out they just stick with silence when they have nothing to share much the way Susan Lucci is (not) responding to the Deadline.com report. Granted gossip loves a vacuum but that's better than misinformation and will save them a lot of trouble in the long run.

People would probably say the ATWT period of time you got hooked one was some of the stronger material in its last decade.

Really, it was just from around February through Jennifer's death in July or August. I was truly into the entire show, looked forward to it every day, hated it when I'd have to miss an episode. I guess the good thing about it is that I eventually got deep into learning the history of the show and the characters, so that's always a plus. Of course, it was the return of CRAIG that started to drive me away.

Ha but at AMC that was still when Agnes Nixon was coHW right? there was a lot of good stuff there at the time.

It was June 2001, so I think Agnes was long gone by then. My main focus in watching was on (smallest voice possible) the Laura heart transplant story, which was allll Jean.
