Angie and David's scenes would've been perfect... if Jesse was completely left out. I LOVE watching Vincent and Debbi work together. I see a certain trust and decided commitment there. Yeah, their characters hate each other, but as actors, they respect each others' peaks and valleys and incorporate them into their scenes. There was no need for Nelly and his obvious clown work he calls acting.

How long till he's killed off, thrown in jail or beaten to up by one of the show's "heroes"? With an introduction like that, you know 1 or all of the above is bound to be in his future

I totally agree. If they had let Jesse stay dead, Angie could have gotten very close to David. Call him out on his faults while also making the others realize that they're full of ish. That's the one thing that I always feel is missing where David is concerned...everyone is against him, and he has absolutely no one at all to be primarily in his corner. Even some of the worst antagonists in this show's history have had that one person on their side.

Plus, I think Debbi has always played Angie as being a little sympathetic toward David.

Had to take a second look at Mookie because I thought that was Frankie for a second, LOL...and I was a little distracted by that black stuff on his chest. Is that supposed to be hot?? That looked nasty to me!! ph34r.gif

Trent Garrett is a wooden mess of an actor & if the show goes all out with his sudden dependence on pain pills then I see it being extra cringe worthy to watch! He is not a good actor at all!! Plus why is time being wasted on him?

The David/Angie scenes were soo good! Incredible! I was engrossed by every moment. Their scenes were long & drawn out and you could tell effort was put into them. Very well done!

The ending with David & Erica was HOT!

I'm so, very sorry Clear Drama but after this episode I have to start agreeing with posters who lately have been commenting on JY's abdomen area. Um...yeah. Also this pic I came across at ABC Medianet for week of July 25...ph34r.gif

Now that I've seen it, hot damn! It's amazing to me that VI and SL haven't done a love scene in almost 11 years and the still managed to shoot off a million sparks. Ah.

I loved today--nothing too exciting but great scene work and dialogue.... And then the Asher/Colby/Maya stuff. I don't even mind any of them--even Asher when he just pops up for a few lines is fine, though he's no Damon, but I like Colby I think more than anyone here (her ridiculous vlog stuff aside--which I admit is all she's had to do lately), but the dialogue for them was SOOOO cliche. It was out of some really really really bad afterschool special (and not just the dialogue, but coming in with those big sunglases--like that won't give it away, etc--don't people know anything about concealer?)

Ha I do agree there... Though I dated a black guy who always shaved his chest and claimed he only liked white people's chest hair, that his looked funny.

One random question that popped into my head due to Damon--didn't people say he wanted to move back to NYC and he was dating old GrannyMarissa? But she certainly seemed close to whoever she was sitting beside during the Emmys (in what is still to me the most bizarre Emmy win in AMC history)

It's true, he seems a character without any chance of redemption--and of course with so much little time left, to be honest I don't really care. This storyline is just in the way of storylines I'd rather see.

The Big Bad Abuser stuff was SO cliche. Once we were supposed to "figure it out" with Mookie claiming that he'll never hit her again, I was just done. Really, Colby can just leave PV until the final week or so and come back for all the finale festivities. Asher can stay because Maya needs something to do until the Hubbard drama blows up.

I think it was said in the live Daytime Emmy thread that BA and Nip Slashtuck broke up, and they were never really a serious item.

Maybe Iola can really throw down in the bedroom. The bigger the head, the better the head? shrug.gif

I agree with you all on the Afterschool Special cheese of the Maya situation but Maya is just so damn cute that it is Degrassi Jr. High endearing to me. I had to laugh though at those sunglasses that looked like they came from her grandma's glove compartment. I was ready to chew (<-sorry) out Asher when he said, "I *guess* I'm sorry" for punching out Mookie, but then seconds later -_- ... Hearing Maya say "Mookie" all dead serious is really funny to me.

    • on ryan’s hope, when kate mulgrew (mary) became pregnant in real life it was written into the show. she gave the baby up for adoption, but mary had the baby (ryan) so, when she returned to the show she had to play a happy new mother. can’t even imagine.
    • I have not found the time to listen to the whole thing myself, but I was tinkering with the Youtube AI helpbot thing (which in the app I found by swiping right on the Comments). The high level summary didn't point to it but it let me ask what she had said about Constance Ford and although its paraphrase was inaccurate it did point me to the mention about 52 minutes in. The only thing she said in relation to Ford that could be construed as negative was that when the interviewer asked what she had thought of her she started with "you devil!" and where she had gushed about how lovely she found practically everyone else, she just said that she hadn't really known Connie well and had never sat and talked with her. She also mentioned earlier that originally she had been very friendly with Jacqueline Courtney but they had later fallen out.
    • Gloria Monty started using tape editing but I doubt that was straight away. Maybe a few weeks/months in. Did Gloria hire new directors?-I would imagine so. She stated that she located the old tape machines used for the late night ABC Wide World of Mystery videotaped movies (some of which she directed). That meant that scenes could be shorter and chopped up, rather than one long scene playing start to end. Lamont was recast, probably with a more dynamic actor and the Mark/Katie story continued till mid 78. Marland brought on Dan Rooney, Susan Moore and Gary's brother Howard. Also Chris Robinson took over in May. So Marland pretty much followed his rules-not making any major cast changes and working/refining what was there. Laura killing David was really the first big story that boosted the ratings.
    • Her description was a bit off but it was 52 years ago so we can give her a pass.
    • Oh. Ok. I just looked at the article. Thanks. Perhaps they changed Jack's name to Stuart, added a daughter and had them all have different hair colors.
    • Thank you. That's what I thought because of the year but who was "Jack with the three blonde daughters"?
    • You can watch it here without an app: https://www.cwtv.com/shows/tv-we-love/dynasty/
    • There are so many beats that could be played with relationships and history b/w  characters. But cast/set restrictions (and loust writing) are destroying that. Really liked seeing Jack and Nikki catch up. Trouble is, in the current version of Y&R it had to continue the entire episode. Hearing Lily talk on the phone to Maddie-how much better if we had actually seen the kids during Cane's return. Would the original actors return for a short stint? Maybe not and perhaps they don't feel a recast would work. All of this could have been avoided by letting BF be a new character. For the amount of difference it's made , there was really no need to bring back Cane.
    • Zeman said Marland created Barbara Jean Spencer, they called her Barbara until she and Monty decided Bobbie would be better as a nickname. It was almost Barbie IIRC, and they didn’t think that was right. She also has said on more than one occasion that she came in during the transition and Monty didn’t hire her, but ended up liking her. So Scotty and his friend must have been talking about her. This episode was fascinating. I am so happy it was shared. I can absolutely see why the show was in trouble. It’s lifeless and old fashioned as far as dialogue and some of the staging. Monty herself said she threw those episodes out, so that makes me think they were even worse. Which really made sense to me watching this because I only saw a glimpse of Monty in the less static scene with Rick moving all around while talking to David and the same type of staging with Scotty, Laura, and his friend’s name I cannot remember right now. That long ass scene through Monica’s eyes was very old fashioned as far as style. I can also see why the ratings started rising relatively quickly. Most of the earliest Monty shows I have seen are a few months later, and the show is very different. It moves, the characters are more intense, the staging has movement, and it feels more modern for the time. By the time you get to 1979 it’s really rocking and I totally get it in a way I didn’t before just from seeing this. Genie was so young to play that story with creepy Hamilton. And Kin sure was cute as nice guy Scotty.
    • Kate previously shadow directed or directed some scenes? on Days before GH, so it's been a passion of hers for a bit.
