Phil did a great job, but I can't help resenting a longtime key character being trashed to create sympathy for a new face. I guess they were also using this to break up Asa/Renee, but there were more subtle ways.

To me OLTL is still pretty strong - other than the violence against women - until 1990. Some of what I've seen is OK but other stuff, like Michael Grande drugging Brenda, is terrible.

Odyssey Addicts to Assist TV Program on Narcotics

by Fred FerrettiA daytime serial on the American Broadcasting Company will become the first regularly scheduled program to heed a White House request, made last month, to use commercial entertainment to carry a warning on narcotics use to viewers.

"One Life To Live," broadcast over ABC's network daily at 2:30 PM eastern time, will begin taping actual group therapy sessions of teen-age addicts at Odyssey House in New York. These will be edited and integrated into the regular programs, about mid- June.

.... Initially, an actress will sit in on the sessions, then will take part in them," Dr. Judianne Densen-Gerber said:

"Our residents know she is an actress. There are no games, no tricks. For them it will be another way of facing reality, knowing they'll be on television."

The idea of using real addicts in a television program belongs to Mrs. Agnes Nixon, creater of "One Life To Live" and other daytime serials. She said in Philadelphia yesterday that "it was a natural outgrowth of our program."

A character named Cathy Craig, she said, is a girl "whose father is a doctor, and the girl has experimented with pills. Last January, she stole her father's prescription blanks to get speed. She has a bad trip and her father persuades her to go to Odyssey House." ...

 Leave Marcie alone!! We all know KB was ready as hell to seize every opportunity OLTL gave her to sing. I wonder if they'll play that recording of We Wish You a Merry Christmas this year where all you hear is KATHYYYYYY BRIERRRRRRR (and teens).

Where was Marcie when Nash died? They had Sarah write/sing some bland ass song that incorporated "one life" in its lyrics.

On the subject singing at funerals, I like this clip

<object width="480" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrE746OEsMA?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrE746OEsMA?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrE746OEsMA?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="390"></embed></object>

Notice how Asa, Renee and a few other people were not clapping on beat.

    • It's so jarring seeing the changeover from Sherry Mathis to Louan Gideon.  The vibe, mannerisms, and overall personality of Liza changes instantly. The chemistry Sherry has with both David F and Joe Lambie is gone the second the recast happens.  I wonder how viewers took the news of the recast since you didn't have time in between airings before the change happened. Quinn/Sarah... One overacts (Quinn) and one under acts (Sarah). Wendy of 1985 is a good mix of the 1982 sweet Wendy and the 1983/84 vixenish Wendy.
    • Oups!! I guess when i was doing the editing, i left a part of 3169, too (RTL Lounge airs 2 episodes per day back to back). Sorry about that ! Tonight i ll try to record 3171-3172. If i m not mistaken 3172 is missing from YouTube.

    • I would put Felicia in the 'small dose' auntie category because she means well, but comes on too strongly at times.  In small doses, she would be a blast to hang out with.. but in anything larger than a small... she would be exhausting. I tend to prefer lower key people than people that are always 'on' all the time.  Those people can veer off into energy vampire status pretty quickly.
    • I didn't like the Harry story, but Nazar did have a great introduction. He was probably the highlight of last year.  Now that you mention it, I guess the truly dire stories (Nicole, Harper/Drew/Phil, Nicole) didn't start until summer.
    • thank you all for contributing to the Vault. I am slowly getting towards watching the 1998 episodes

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
