I wish they'd let Viki stay mayor. It's a role which suited her so well, and led to her being able to work for others aggressively, instead of constantly fighting her own demons and putting up with her family. This speech is just good, gutsy material.

And you'll never guess who Viki names as the lead citizen of Llanview...

I know now! (Granted, I sort of cheated, having seen it in the comments section before I heard Viki say her name) Gabrielle Holden. What a beautiful sound that has wub.png . If only it had lasted sad.png .

Why do I get the feeling this was after she was embezzling money and cheated on Max with Tony to shut him up? laugh.png

ETA: I actually kind of joke-guessed that it could be Gabrielle, given everything that happened with her that year (and that she's my favorite character, of course), but I was still happily surprised/amused to find that it was her! smile.png

Once upon a time, I was willing to emphasize with Todd's problems. But that was actually before all the whitewashing and attempts to turn his story into a fairy tale.

Agree.

I think it was just a few months, yes. She was mayor long enough to start cleaning out the drug trade in Llanview, which is what got her shot. I think after her recovery from her stroke, she did go back to being mayor, but this wasn't used in the story. In 1991 she gave up her mayor job to spend more time with Clint because she thought he was having an affair. It's too bad.

Blair and Marty's final argument before the birth of Starr Manning (and Blair gives herself her first onscreen haircut!):

I wonder if this is the scene Fiona mentioned in the OLTL Tribute magazine. Except she said that she started it by throwing potatoes at Andrea, and she wasn't sure if it made it to air or not.

Happy "St. Erika" day everyone. Mark Derwin i guess always e-mails Erika saying it's St. Erika day...because she started on the show on St. Patricks day (her first air date was probably a couple of weeks later but it's always celebrated on St. Patricks day.) It will always be St. Erika day to me. I've celebrated it "with her" for the past 18 years so it won't change. just that instead of counting number of years, i just celebrate Viki history every year from this year on.

    • yes. today Monday's episode started with words displayed "part 1" and ended with "to be continued"
    • I find Missy Reeve's views offensive and I don't want to defend her, but I don't think she ever said anything publicly about Days "gay content".   In fact, I don't think she's ever said anything negative about Days at all.  There's no indication Missy is difficult or unprofessional on set-except for the whole affair thing years ago lol-but that's a whole different topic. I can dislike Missy as a person and still think she's the perfect fit for Jen.  Cady tried and it didn't work for me.  Whenever Missy steps into the role it works.  It's a two things can be true situation.  Missy has some bad opinions, but she's great at playing Jennifer.
    • Doesn't the funeral go into Tuesday
    • Christian Streaty wrote her second freelance script today on Days. Surprised they gave the first funeral episode to a newbie.
    • And the third thing, which I have no cite for, and I may look to see if one is findable, but supposedly she said that the show had too much gay content in it. And, to be fair, that could be someone making a criticism about balance & not be bigotry but when it's added to the other, that's why it bugs people.

The greatest tv series season finale in history.
    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?
    • This is the coldest early June in my life. It's like it's January.
