All I can say for now... is that the project seems interesting, but the pricing is absurd. Waaaaay too expensive for such a niche product. They can't expect me to buy 260 episodes a year for 1.80 a piece. That's... nearly 500 bucks for a year of AMC... mid 90s... and you CAN'T EVEN OWN the episodes... they don't give you the opportunity to save them. If I could own them... maybe I would have given it a second thought.

Just think about it... if I want to watch AMC from mid 1995 to... say... 2005... on this platform... I'll have to give thousands of euros. Last time I checked this is not even a golden era of the show.  Sorry, but that's a joke and it's destined to fail. They need to make a monthly subscription - nothing more than 10 euros... and then give the option to keep the episodes for AT LEAST a year so that people could watch them in that period.

That's just my take on this. I am excited about it... but I'm still not gonna take that bait and spend that money. Unless I see a monthly fee and have more than a month to watch.

IMHO, the fall of 1995 to the end of 1997 are worth watching (then Megan McTavish takes over as head writer), but I agree with you: this is way too expensive, and the inconvenient payment method will put off a lot of potential viewers. 500.00 euros converts to  $815.43 a year in Canadian funds, or $67.92 CAD per month.

BEONDTV+ is setting severe obstacles up, which make me believe this venture's success will be a long shot.

Yep... I've been known to give my money for all kinds of stupid sh-t... but if I start giving thousands of euros for old AMC episodes... my husband will probably file for divorce. A simple solution is to make a monthly subscription... but they need to fix the current situation of episodes going away every month. Why are you giving people this time limit to watch the episodes? It's not like this is the Holy Grail of entertainment. I have to research the ways to contact that platform and voice my opinion in emails with them. If done correctly... this could lead to a successful VIDEOLAND-like project for the show. For people who don't know... VIDEOLAND is the platform that started airing classic Bold episodes years ago. But they have a monthly subscription... and the episodes stay up for... months and months... if not a year... before being taken down. In the current situation... only a few die-hard fans that have money to spare will watch. The others will be watching them feed on these expensive eps like starved puppies in the distance... wondering if they will have the chance to watch something if the prices drop.  😂 I know, because I'll be one of these puppies. I'm not giving 500 euro for a year of AMC

I've never heard of VideoLand, but by the way you describe it, their business model sounds like the perfect way to stream a vintage soap.

And I'm not shelling of $815.43 CAD, either!

YES. Times are tough and I have a dog to feed. And he likes to eat premium brands!

I'll try mailing them (this platform after I find an email) and give you guys an update if they respond. (I doubt they will) 😂

There is a 28-day subscription on BEONDTV+.  It costs 30,00€ per 28 days

Wooow. This is just way too expensive. I'm not giving 360 euros a year to watch AMC episodes that disappear every 30 days. Yes, it's 140 less compared to... if I buy them one by one... but... this subscription should not be more than 10 euro. Videoland... as I recall was something like 5.99 and they have tons of other stuff. AAAAND the episodes stayed for seasons and seasons ahead. It's absurdly expensive for the product they are giving.

That's a shame. I don't blame you for waiting. Some of that period is good, but by early 1997 the show becomes extremely dark, disturbingly so, enough to where I'd hesitate to suggest anyone pay.

1995 to January 1998 has some great moments, but I was hoping they would have started with 1990 when Nixon came back on staff instead of 1995.

Still something is better than nothing.

There have been so many reports over several decades, in soap opera history books and magazines, in interviews with actors and TPTB, in TV news clips, etc., for this to be an easy task.

I have a plethora of history books, magazines and video footage, and trying to hunt down exactly where someone said vintage eps do exist (or that they don't) would be too herculean an assignment for me.

Doing a Google search on the availability of past episodes of individual soaps might be your best bet.

I don't need to do a google search, because I'm not the one making the claim. You are. If you are making a claim, then you need to back it up with sources. At least I sourced my claim with the daugther of an engineer who worked at ABC. You can't even do that.

Talking about waiting... I think that pretty soon after reaching the end of 1992 OLTL... I may just take a few months break from it and get back to my AMC 1989-1990 journey. Or I may continue both with 1 episode each a day. I still remember vividly where I am. I stopped just before Agnes comes back as head writer. I want to continue. I want to see what will happen to Dixie... and if Erica will find her father is alive. I am just so hooked (as you know) on OLTL right now. It's like a drug. 😁

Sounds like a good idea. Not sure if you want to go back, but the channel I posted a while ago that had a ton of clips of AMC from 87-88 still seems to be on Youtube.

It would be interesting if they responded to complaints about their set-up and exorbitant prices, but I doubt their response would be substantive or satisfying; just PR bull$hit.

Let us know!

I'm sorry that having an unconfirmed source on Facebook questioned vexes you.

As Mulder and Scully are wont to say, the truth is out there. If you don't want to spend a moment doing any research yourself, no one else is going to convince you.🤷‍♂️

Dude, literally anyone who’s spent a day involved with classic soap discussion within the last 25 years knows that ABC didn’t start preserving AMC and OLTL on a regular basis until some time during 1977-1979. No one’s hunting down sources to support something literally everyone here (except for you) knows and has known since the Clinton administration.
