Enchantment ended up as a subsidiary of Cambias Enterprises, and Michael fired Erica before he was murdered. He announced the ownership of Enchantment right after he got away with Bianca's rape - Erica was yelling at him "You think I give a damn about my COMPANY?"

Ryan was considered the Cambias heir after the murder thanks to Alexander "dying" and signing everything over to him, prior to Miranda's birth, and when that was announced, I think Erica said something to him about her running Enchantment, and he said of course, he wouldn't have anyone else there. We saw Erica in her office at Enchantment a few times during the Cambias murder trial, including the night before she tried to save Kendall by placing the blame on herself. I assume Ryan had someone else running the company when Erica ran off to Vegas and then went to rehab. With Miranda being a Cambias heir, you'd think Bianca could have appointed Erica to run Enchantment again, but they never went there.

God, I love this scene! This cracks me up! Adam and Palmer were so incredibly wonderful on camera together, and the show really suffered when both of these titans left.

As a refresher: Opal and Tad want to know what Adam and Palmer were doing and why they were together the night Michael Cambias was shot. Palmer says that he shot Adam that night, and that's where this scene picks up. What we didn't know until much later was that Palmer and Adam had gone to Michael's condo, but he wasn't there. As they were leaving, Erica appeared outside the condo and shot Adam, thinking he was Michael. She then fled the scene, and Palmer treated Adam's bullet wound on his plane.

I do have to give the AMC writers over the years props for at least keeping the vets they had and using them in an overall substantial way until they were too ill to work. Myrtle, Palmer, etch they were still very relevant and attached.

Prior to being cast on Trapper John, M. D., actress Mary McCarthy (who, I understand, had been a child actress) played a girlfriend of Ray Gardner's on All My Children. This woman was physically abused by Ray, but, eventually, she did something that would put an end to Ray's current reighn of terror in Pine Valley.

Does anyone know this character's name? The first name was Birtha, but I have no idea about the last name.

I know she didn't have all that much control, particularly if she was apparently booted from the writer's room during Pratt's reign, but I can't help thinking some of that was due to Agnes Nixon still being around to SOME degree. While other shows were dropping vets who had apparently had lifetime contracts--like Anna Lee (I think that's her name--I didn't watch GH regularly), AMC had a habit of keeping them on contract even when they could barely work near the end (like with Ruth Warrick and James M), which I think showed a lot of respect. And it was great to see Myrtle working till basically the end.

The problem came that they never really built up other characters, or even introduced, or re-introduced others, to fill these positions, but I doubt the network heads in the past 15 years would have taken kindly to them wanting a contract role for someone over 70. Opal seemed like she could have filled that spot, or helped to.

    • She could have easily tied them into the Cottage Mystery...(they could have easily explained going on adventures with Bea, babysitting) The house that Tony and Annabelle lived in could have been the coachhouse of the property that Qualo and Henry live in, or at the very least Nola would have been totally in on ghosts and secrets of her brother's house. But they kind of just sat around for months.  The clip of Van and Billy's impromptu wedding shows how sidelined Nola and Quint became...Nola isn't even around butting in on them getting married, its all Reva (though it is a more interesting Reva where Mindy and her or going at it and insulting each other..THAT Reva was fun.)  I loved it when those two would go at it. Somehow they could have resurrected that antogonistic relationship and not have Billy worshing at the throne of Reva.  When they brought JC back on recurring they should have had him at least warn Annie about Jeva pulling her down..."Darlin' I love my brother, but when he has ole Reva in his sites he will drop any woman to try to win her back...and then he will get bored with her...she's like booze is to me and you...he hates it but he needs it..get out while you can!"
    • It's been brought up that Empty Nest was a time slot hit. Here's Empty Nest schedule and seasonal rating in comparison to The Golden Girls. 1988/89: The Golden Girls Saturday 9 pm, 6th. Empty Nest Saturday 9:30 pm, 9th. 1989/90: The Golden Girls Saturday 9 pm, 6th. Empty Nest Saturday 9:30 pm, 9th. 1990/91: The Golden Girls Saturday 9 pm, 10th. Empty Nest Saturday 9:30 pm, 7th. 1991/92: The Golden Girls Saturday 8 pm, 30th (final season). Empty Nest Saturday 9 pm, 22nd.  1992/93: Saturday 9 pm, below the Top 30. 1993/94: Saturday 9 pm, below the Top 30. 1994/95: Saturday 8:30 pm then 8 pm, below the Top 30, and cancelled. Empty Nest 7 season run equaled the parent show The Golden Girls.
    • In an interesting turn of irony, when Somerset came onto the airwaves in 1970... it ran against Dark Shadows and beat it in the ratings fairly quickly.  Then when Edge of Night moves to ABC in December 1975 and put against Somerset, the slow ratings rise that Somerset was allegedly having in late 1975 is derailed. From reading the write ups of the final year, the show dropped the May/December romance.. which viewers enjoyed and was getting the show some good press... the original cast member was sidelined due to medical issues, and the show featured pure crime stories without any balance. I think the crime focus was an attempt to compete with EON.  However, people that were into crime stories/mysteries weren't going to tune into Somerset for their fix.. not when Edge of Night was known for that.. and that show was running on a high quality wise when the network switch occurred.

    • Erwin Nicholson's last episode as SFT ep was 11/21. Whitesell started 11/22/85. Erwin was on board from March 8, 1985 so less than 9 months. Whitesell lasts six months (approximately) before P&G moved him to AW for two years where he primarily worked with DePriest. Whitesell was replaced on Search by no daytime experience David Lawrence who closed out the show's last six months.

    • I assume in name only?  One Stormy Night wasn't exactly steamy.  If it's a literal throwback then Stephanie's writing about sexy times her own Uncle was having lol. Since I am going to surmise it's just a throwback to the name, Night Sins and Winter Heat both sound sexier.  Just saying.  I swear Jamey (and Ron) just google things and land on the first thing they like and decide it's a good throwback to history without watching it.
    • I usually don't want Tide placement in the middle of an intense sad scene, but this is an interesting point
