AMC: Classic episodes (1970-1980)

Yeah, I mean, I don't want to sound like I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth, but from what I remember, it was a very random episode that didn't feature characters who we'd exacly go ga-ga for, i.e., there was no Erica, Phoebe, et cetera.

Agnes Nixon said:

"During the first FIVE years of the ALL MY CHILDREN series, videotapes were not kept, but because of a process called Kinescope TWO episodes survived..."

And I have 8 full episodes from 1970-1980:

Ep 00023 (04 February 1970)

Ep 00041 (02 March 1970)

Ep 00062 (31 March 1970)

Ep 00076 (20 April 1970)

Ep XXXXX (15 March 1971)

Ep XXXXX (06 September 1978)

Ep 02567 (27 November 1979)

Ep 02769 (03 September 1980)

So I suppose that new episodes from 1970-75 can appear one day... Does anyone have any new episode from this decade of AMC???

And now we can add a youtube clip....from 25 june 1971!!!!!!!!

There are more clips from early early stuff, too. Check out the 20th anniversary special, which has lots of Chuck/Tara/Phil, and a black-and-white scene with Erica bitching about Tara.

That youtube clip makes me want more. LOL

What I find confusing is SOME have said that Agnes DID save the old AMC (and I assume OLTL) almost completely as kinescopes up till ABC started saving the tapes--but they were burned in a fire...

I heard about that myself. Which, makes me sad if they did really burn up. :(

Sad that these old eppies are not around. Makes you wish Agnes made a backup.

There's a short scene on youtube of Kate, Ruth, and Tad baking cookies in the Martin kitchen that you guys have probably seen. That had to have been around 1976. How is it that standalone scene is available, but not the full episode? The full ep must be out there somewhere.

IIRC, that particular clip is a flashback from a later episode.

The two great 1970 episodes on her website were apparently found by her son on old kinesciope film reels in the back of her old house clet when he was helping her move. LOL

I brought this up in another thread, what about foreign markets? Did All My Children air in other countries as early as the 70's? If so it is possible some earlier episodes survive. Who knows. As I said in another thread they found some Dr. Who episodes in Australia that had been wiped in the U.K and thought lost forever.

All my children was not very popular in Europe...it only was broadcast in Italy and in France, but with episodes from the 80s or 90s...Nevertheless, OLTL was broadcast in several countries...In Spain, 130 episodes (August 1980-February 1981), in Italy, a lot of episodes from 1978 to 1982, and in France, episodes from the mid 80s....
