This was the third or fourth bland and bad casting at this time (Casper Van Dien and Jack Armstrong being others, Christopher Douglas on the way). Unfortunately it just meant that it became more of a prevailing view that you couldn't have traditional leading men, that everyone had to be sleazy or brooding or "edgy."
