His short romance with her was more believable than the ones he had with Chloe and Victoria. The only down side of that would be he would no longer be a quasi Newman. Maybe then he wouldn't be "deballed" anymore.

Plus I'd love it if Billy left Victoria for Lily. Then J.T. can laugh at Victoria's "Billy Forever" tattoo.

I actually agree with this, even though CK is the laziest actress I have ever seen and BM's acting ticks rival The Stafford's for sheer smugness.

There was a small scene way back when Billy and Lily were corresponding by e-mail, not knowing who the other was. Lily talked about being gun-shy after her marriage and the relationship with cane fell apart, and BM obliquely mentioned the "married cousins" thing in an actually sincere and heartfelt way. Of course, an added benefit of this is being able to FF two characters I hate at the same time.

And the FauxToria/Billy romance is the most contrived, fake, agenda-propping, appallingly-written piece of [!@#$%^&*] I have ever witnessed on ANY soap (barring GH -- Nikolas & Emily come to mind). I would kill for JT to return for ONE scene where he gets to point and laugh at CrackToria's tats and the fact that he STILL has Reed as a result of her boozy shenanigans with Billy.

They spent a fair amount of time setting up this story with Billy and Lily and then it was very abruptly dropped. I wonder if they decided that since Chompers was their big stud, that they needed to move him into the big leagues. Which meant one big flop after another, the latest being the ridiculous travails of Bacteria, which seem to generate a shrug in spite of a lot of soap press shilling.

Billy Miller's inability to work with scene partners and general lack of chemistry with leading ladies might pay off with CK, because you don't need any of that with her. Just sappy, stupid stuff, as she plays the tragic heroine all on her own.

Just playing devil's advocate, the faked death thing didn't become a soap cliche until after Bill Bell pretty much stopped writing. During his heyday, he kept apace with the cliches of the day (e.g., who's the daddy storylines; whodunnits; siblings fighting over the same man or woman). For that matter, they all did, including Agnes. I love them and can wax nostalgic about them and their writing as much as the next person, but let's face it...they had their bag of tricks. The difference is that now these cliches are relentless and are used over and over and over again. JMO.

    • Perhaps Lujack/Beth should have been the other couple involved in that location story with Tony/Annabelle instead of Claire/Fletcher or Jim.   Since Lujack was a Spaulding, the whole fallout could have caused him to further distance himself from having anything to do with Spaulding and Alexandra and as a result, pushes Beth away and potentially back in Phillip's direction. Out of the three Pam Long major mystery/action stories in her first stint.. the fishing mystery story was probably the best... although I did kind of enjoy parts of Infinity and the cabin mystery stories as well.
    • I’m now realizing all of Nick and Sharon’s screen time last month all revolved around Phyllis and then they took a “trip” to visit Noah and still haven’t been back? That’s super lame. They should be involved in a lot more and COULD be, especially where any of the Newmans are concerned (Sharon in particular, since I don’t care much for Nick unless he is in the presence of Sharon).
    • Now, you are just not being grateful for the right things!!! There was not even ONE Elvis on velvet!!!!
    • Sharina?  @alwaysAMC I am glad you've kept writing about the Brent story all the way through. I think that Beaty may have had to briefly leave again, rather than scenes being aired out of sequence, but I'm not sure.  You are right that the reveals of Brent's various reasons for being what he was bog down the end of the story a bit, although based on what is to come in 1996 I still kind of wish Beaty had stayed another year.  I'd forgotten J and Michelle were tied to the end of the story. This J is generally just gross. I don't really remember much of anyone caring about Nadine dying outside of her family. The worst part was Frank just giving a rose and saying it was from Harley, which made me very mad at the time. I am not sure if Beth Ehlers was asked to return and declined. Luckily this is addressed when she does return.   I felt like it was one of those stories that was done via mandate - trying to keep the ratings gains they had, via more location shoots, more adventures, more secrets, etc. Tony, Annabelle and Jim were thrown in as they were meant to be important to the show at the time.
    • April 28: Leslie tells Eva "I know all about the Articulettes. Honey, please. I lost my virginity with Anita playing in the background, baby." Who knows what she meant by that.  I had assumed that it meant that the music was playing on a device in the background, and not live, but who knows. Leslie has spun so many tales.
    • I enjoyed Sally's story from her engagement to Peter all the way through to right before Majorca, so I would have a hard time giving that up for the sake of trying to make Amanda and Sam theoretically better. I thought the escalation of Sally's troubles from Donna's interference, secret love child, engagement to David for the wrong reasons, falling for Catlin, jilting David, trying to take Kevin from David leading to David's murder and Catlin's absolutely stupid confession to take the blame for her, and then Catlin's trial and aftermath all kept the story moving in directions you wouldn't necessarily expect but all made sense.  Full disclosure: I don't really care for location shoots on soaps where most of the time outdoor scenes are clearly in studio. It feels weird to see the cast in natural light under real trees and sometimes the destination doesn't make any sense. And although obviously it was good to get a resolution to the murder mystery and get Catlin off death row (probably too harsh a sentence for the crime), the motive and the criminal were not very satisfying. Even though she had started dating Peter, Emily Benson still had minor character written all over her. But also the transition into a lower key daily life, the introduction of Brittany and the recasting of Sally were all less effective. Catlin was limited to occasional private detection work and being protective of Brittany, but he didn't have much else to do once Blaine and Larry had left. (He should at least have been dealing with raising Kevin but Kevin and Liz had also been written out. He could have interacted with Donna more over Brittany but his fling with Donna was mostly ignored once Sally was gone.)
    • This. I'm also reminded of something from the old Cinema de Merde website, something I've tried to carry with me. "(paraphrased) We will not let our dislike for a movie impede our efforts to engage with it."
    • I just edited a DAYS episode 8-27-90 with Eve, Nick, Julie, John, Izzy, Victor, Bo, Carly, some young guy named Chad, Johnny Corelli, business men/thugs from a movie that is going to be made & from a construction company, little kid friend of ShawnD's, ShawnD although he is at the bottom of a long narrow hole & is either asleep or unconscious. Full closing credits with voiceover: Next on Another World: Vicky, posing as Marley, will she be able to fool Jamie? Then, on Santa Barbara something about Mack & Gretchen, whoever they are.
    • It's a sweet scene. I'm requesting Love of Life, please.
    • Paul, as for me, in general I am VERY interested in reading these. So, from my POV, you could post one every week & I would be all smiles. As for what shows I would be interested in: everything but Valiant Lady, Portia/Life, 5 Daughters, Another Life, that's it.
