I think there might be a couple October 1989 episodes, that you haven't seen yet.

I admit I do miss reading comments that were left on my old videos from passnum1. I actually have tried to google my own videos just to see if there might be any sites that have the link to my videos with the comments, but no luck! :(

Watching these two new episodes (well, new to me).

They really did take a great deal of planning to set up David going to woo Nina and losing all interest in Jill. She treats him like [!@#$%^&*]. it seems like they once had a fun or gossipy relationship but she changed and never let him change with her. He was on with Brenda, right? I can't remember. I wonder how different they were.

I love when Rex tries to get Jill to wake the hell up about her John delusions and Jill blasts him. He just grins and grins.

Esther going to work for Nina always screams of plot point to me, to the point where I keep forgetting it wasn't all some trick from Nina. Esther venting about having to wear that uniform until she can't bend over anymore made me laugh, as that has turned out to be true. So she met Tiny at Nina's place? She mentioned a plumber.

Is it me or is that husky-voiced niece of Cassandra's (Brittany) exactly Victor's type? Maybe not in those years, but later on. I wonder why the show never found any role for her once the story was over. I can't say I am a big fan, but she could have gone somewhere.

I remember you hadn't watched those yet.....glad you finally saw them.

David was with Brenda as there are some clips still out there somewhere I believe.......I don't think it was ever clear if Jill being turned off by David was because of Jess's acting or not.....the following year I know she was completely through with him as I have the episodes to support that (which haven't been released yet)

I liked the Jill and Rex scene too.....Jess will always be one of the best actresses ever on Y&R, but I have to admit as much as I want to enjoy Jill these days, I cannot get through a scene without cringing......too much damage has been done to Jill for me to even believe that Jess could act the way she use to as Jill nearly 25 years ago......it already doesn't help that her hair and wardrobe has been a hot mess for the past 10 years already.

Brittany always strikes me as offbeat casting.....I wonder if Bill could have made her Sheila......or at least write her in a similar matter.

what did you think of the Carl and Mary scenes? I knew Carolyn Conwell was a great actress as meddling Mary, but I haven't seen alot of emotional performances like the one she does here.....I miss her and Jeanne Terribly sad.png

I thought the Mary and Carl scenes were terrific. I can understand why some people were in disbelief that Carl and Paul didn't tell Mary, but it clearly led to some great drama. Mary's hurt and anger, and Lynne's pain - terrific, human drama. I feel sorry for Carl too, having to put on such a cold front, even telling Lynne he might take over Paul's office himself (as an excuse to keep it open).

David is so slimy - I guess Nina's self-esteem issues blinded her.

I can't figure out what's going on with Leanne and Douglas. Is she manipulating him? Is she really attracted to him?

Poor Lauren just never fits in with Mary, even when trying to console her.

Cool! I remember this, it was the infamous GALA. (I think it was in 2004) Back then, Brittany Hodges was still on the show so they probably did not want to confuse viewers. Or maybe they just didn't care.

Judging from YRfan's vids, I like Brittany! I think she fits just right in Y&R's glamourus type of woman.

Yeah me either! What's the deal with them? Douglas looks like a delusional scumbag around her LOL And she was giving him the worst looks possible in the dinner episode with Nikki. Leanna cracks me up!

    • Yeah, Martin really did make me laugh when him and Smitty jumped up to drag Leslie out. I am interested in seeing how this fallout will impact his storyline as well. Especially since he is so protective regarding his family/family's image. I am interested in seeing how he will interact with Eva for the time being, they did have a warmer interaction earlier on once they met. But he seems to have doubts about her possibly being Ted's right now. I wonder how long it might take for him to come around with her. I could see the younger generation warming up to her quicker than the older ones. Though of course I think there will be anger/tension for a while regarding the reveal and her role in it. Perhaps Naomi/Chelsea will ease up on Eva first then eventually Martin/Kat might down the line. I really do love Nicole. I'm glad that DD is playing her. She really is the heart of the family and also agree the show. She is so easy to root for and I'm looking forward to seeing how things work out for her. I am enjoying the development of most of the characters on this show. I enjoy most of them including Bill with his trifling self lol. I do feel that Bill's love for his daughters is genuine and that gives him some depth. A few of the characters I don't care for that much (like Bill, Ashley, Vanessa). I wasn't too big on Andre at first, but I am warming up more to him as the actor is settling into the role. I like most of the characters on this show. Also, I am interested in seeing what happens if Eva indeed goes and lives with the new doctor that was introduced. I could see this adding another layer to her story, maybe she will become more vixen-ish, on what type of relationship they end up having. And/or maybe she will end up becoming more hardened as she deals with being an outcast, especially if she falls out with Leslie as well. I think that AM will do a good job of showcasing the different layers of this character as she deals with the fallout of the affair/paternity reveal.

Got another sad news from the Bahamian community (not a celebrity)  https://www.instagram.com/p/DJMSrYCgyes/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== Former Bahamian Senate President J Henry Bostwick, Husband of former 1st Bahamian Female Cabinet Minister Dame Janet Bostwick is dead yesterday on his 86th birthday.    Thanks and for those who've aren't familiar with the talk shows in The Bahamas on this thread here, his talk show named The Freedom March with Dr Rodney Moncur that airs on ILTV and The Beat 103.5 FM Nassau every weekday afternoons. IIRC, he suffered a illness before he died.  Here's the link for his final taping of the show before his death: https://ewnews.com/this-is-powerful-rodney-moncurs-final-sign-off/

    • One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
    • You're welcome. Fall 1982-Spring 1985 was the peak of primetime soaps. What a time to have been alive.
    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
