HOWEVER, I'm liking Maura as Diane very much, I think she has a firm grip on the character, and I in no way see Carly anytime she appears onscreen. As I've posted before, it's a testament to her talent that she has completely distinguished Diane from her defining role of Carly. And, no, it has nothing to do with hairstyle and costuming.

Everything that's made Diane Diane has been stripped away.

Diane was always (if nothing else) ambitious & intelligent both of which have been (in addition to her money) stripped away to make her Genoa City's most convenient punching bag.

Alex Donnelly's Diane was well liked (until she went under the bus for Victor/Nikki).

Same for Susan Walters was a solid (but not definitive) recast until she too went under the bus (for Giggly Heffa).

The character has been undervalued & under appreciated for years.

The only reason the character was even recast (with a star actress or not) was solely to prop Giggly Heffa.

It's not working and I say that as some who likes Phylis (usually). She's coming off as smug and unsympathetic, imo.

I do have to admire how blatantly Eric Roberts reads the cue cards

Well, it depends on the individual. I'm really liking MW, but I'm sure that has a lot to do with A. not really watching a lot of Y&R when Alex Donnelly was on and B. not having been an ATWT viewer. So Maura seems fresh to me. Susan Walters made little impression on me as well.

And unless West starts pulling a Stafford and chewing the scenery like a hungry Chewbaca on steroids, then I think I will continue liking what she brings to her performance (the writing may be another story entirely).

As for pimping, I'm just expressing my opinion, certainly not forcing people to agree with it. :)

That's all very legitimate, of course, but there are infamous members here known for pimping people that end up being the most hated characters in history. :P I think what makes Maura as Diane interesting is that it's a refreshing change from the obnoxious women that pervade Y&R, such as Phyllisia or the whiny Heather. She will be thrown under the bus, or get bored and voilà, it will be the end.

I love Eric Roberts as Vance, too. Roberts could do this soap stuff in his sleep. Or, as the case may have been yesterday, totally high or mildly sauced. His voice is great, too.

I'm not sure if he were actually, but the way his Will Butler look appeared in that scene was hysterical. He basically made fun of both of those idiots sitting in front of him, but they didn't get the clue Let's play this sh!t like what it is instead thinking he was inviting for a Greek tragedy-style "acting".

Not too TPTB they see her as "feisty old Giggly".

Like they would ever refer to Phyllis as old.

Well, I do like her more now that she's away from Nick. I even like her more when she's a bitch, but I'd be surprised to hear that Phylis is winning her confrontations with Diane in the eyes of the audience. She certainly isn't winning in my eyes, but I really have no way to gauge the general feeling, since SON has such a small group that posts.

I do think it's a good thing that Phylis has someone other than Sharon to go up against, that rivalry needs a rest.

The comments about Phyllis here are kind compared to TWOP...

You'd be surprised.

Certain fans are trying desperately to convince others KYLE is a "brat" for confronting Giggly.

I do think it's a good thing that Phylis has someone other than Sharon to go up against, that rivalry needs a rest.

Mainly because it never was a "rivalry".

It was what it always was.

Giggly Heffa shoehorning herself into an extremely dysfunctional relationship with a man who CLEARLY is still in love with another woman then playing the victim by making the "other woman" the "enemy".

Which really didn't work (especially with Sharon) since Giggly Heffa wronged HER & Sharon was mourning a DEAD CHILD.

She really should be a hate or love to hate character. I think MS is best at that. But when it comes to Diane it seems like Phyllis is using Kyle to hurt her. Using someone's child to cause them pain is definitely hitting below the belt. It's making me root against Phyllis big time.

I need Ashley to kick Tucker to the curb soon.

It's what Giggly Heffa ALWAYS does.

She doesn't care about other Mothers & their children yet expects everyone to treat her like the greatest mother ever.

And now also St. Phyllissa, who doesn't want a child to be born in prison.

And is willing to fight her "best friends" to unnecessarily house the psycho mother of her prison grandchild in her house with her daughter who was given brain damage by another psycho.

And that it doesn't really matter what sort of sinister methods she has to use to achieve that, it's the final result that matters.
