Okay, this has been posted on Twi/X and on BlueSky. Here, I try to avoid giving actual links, so with a little bit of subterfuge, DAYS 7-11-24, Bill Hayes last show, in 2 versions, go to rumble dot com, the acct name is shallotpeel & the titles of the videos are as follows:

DAYS 7-11-24 Doug's Last Day, long form

DAYS 7-11-24 Doug's Last Day, short form

None of the dreadful digging up Abby in the cemetery is included.

Have fun, honor his memory, miss him so much.

JOSH TAYLOR???!!!

Josh Taylor and Ken Corday both joined the show around the same time in 1977, so they've been pretty close friends for the past 47 years. They probably bonded a little being the "new guys" at the show in 1977.

Thanks for the background. I knew that they are very close friends but I didn't know about them starting together! And, I'm still appalled that he'd make such an elite list.

That's a "Dirty Soap" YouTube & I avoid them because she makes sh*t up. Sometimes she starts with the published spoilers & then lets her mind run free & posts whatever fiction comes out of that. Other times she seems to start totally out of whatever is in her head at the moment. I do not support such sites by intent & also encourage others to shun them.

So excited this morning. Some citizen left me comments on clips of Doug's last episode of  saying they have turned me in for copyright violations to both Rumble & to Corday Productions. Whatever would we do without helpful citizens like that?!!

Damn that’s harsh. I mean I kinda get that if you are from the us it would be a bit more easy to get that episode of Doug.

But what about them people from outside the us? Even clips that pop up from 1965/66 get deleted and i wonder why? They don’t release them on peacock anyway so why make it even more unavailable for the fans?

It is truly a dilemma. While it is so, that they copyright holders have a legal duty to protect what is theirs, at the same time the concept of FAIR USE exists for a reason. When it comes to short clips I personally feel that FAIR USE should be liberally applied. And, this particular clip was indeed short & also it retains a particular historical value since it was Bill Hayes last appearance & he is now deceased. Like everyone who collects & posts clips I cannot stand these individuals who turn people in. That's just the nature of the beast.

@Bright Eyes

Did you find Doug's last scene okay?

I was thinking about things Susan said about this scene. With permission she rewrote some of the lines. Beginning where she says that they had years & years together & going on until the end. Basically it was her idea to cover their history the way they did & then to top it off by having him ask her for one more kiss to which she replies, "My pleasure." And, she kisses him & that's the end of the scene. Perfection!

Please share your impression of the scene.

SOAPY WRITER: Author Janet Dailey keeps ending up working on soap operas even though she isn't a fan. In May she had a four-episode run on "Days of Our Lives," playing an investigative reporter who is trying to get a scoop on Roman Brady's return from the dead. "Dealing with someone else's written material, I had to approach it from the writer's angle," she said of ac-, ting. "I felt like I got the hang of it, though, but, believe me, Hollywood is not threatened by another great actress. I had fun and it turned out well."

Now Dailey and her husband, Bill, are looking into starting their own soap opera. She says she watched soaps "years and years ago" before getting serious about writing. "Being a writer and working 12 hours a day you don't have time to be a devoted watcher of daytime soap dperas," she said. Dailey's latest book is "The Great Alone," an action-romance set in Alaska.

As an aside I did some research on Janet Dailey. Although she died in 2013, books are still being published in her name and no mention is made that she is deceased. Her website is worded in away that infers she is still alive. Weird...

I hadn’t seen this interview before, not the first time she’s done this, but Genie Francis shades the hell out of DAYS for not giving her a character. She really seemed to hate her experience on DAYS

GF does have a bit of a point though.

From what I’ve seen, Diana really did seem to ping-pong back and forth between being a spoiled, unserious heiress, a serious, determined businesswoman, a Laura clone and a Marlena clone. Idk if the strike writing had something to do with that too but I see what she means.

And, she was 100% correct that there was always a lot of chem testing on Days. I think that was more on Al Rabin though because it happened pretty much all throughout the 80s.

And I love that, despite the bad experience, she did enjoy working with Drake Hogestyn 😊

These early episodes continue to be eligible for the Star Billing Blog since the voiceover includes: "DAYS OF OUR LIVES, a new dramatic serial starring Macdonald Carey."

11-19-65
21:14 There's considerable visual clutter, lines, distortion at first but then it settles down & the quality from there on is fine.
Cast: Mickey Horton, Ben Olson, Jim, Craig Merritt, Tony Merritt, Marie Horton, Tom Horton.

In Salem: Ben comes to Mickey who wants to talk about whether there's any point to this meeting they're supposed to be going to, meet with Harry. Ben thinks it's a good idea. Obviously, Mickey does not. Ben says that Harry got the high school principal, Mr. Yarborough, to write a glowing, complimentary letter about Julie & send it to the judge. Mickey says this judge is not going to be swayed by that & he's also not going to appreciate this kind of effort. He knows about Julie & her life & her parents. Mickey sums up his position by saying this meeting with Harry will have no effect on the results of next Tuesday's hearing. Ben asks him what he thinks the judge will say. Mickey says he's going to want to shake things up. Ben: You mean, move? Mickey: This, with Julie has been coming on for a long while. She's got to be made to see the consequences of her actions.

In Boston: Jim enters his apartment. Tony's not there. The phone rings. It's Craig Merritt, Tony's dad, and he wants to check on the logistics of Tony flying to Salem later today. As far as Jim knows, everything remains the same. Craig says he & Marie will meet Tony at the airport.
Tony's in a bar, drinking.

In Salem: Tom takes a patient phone call while Craig is on the phone. After Marie models a hat for them. Tom says Marie has never liked a hat in her whole life. Marie says Tony loves hats. Craig has no opinion about hats. Marie has a premonition of some sort. She doesn't understand it but she has this bad feeling about Tony. Marie leaves. Tom & Craig head to the kitchen for ice cream.

In Boston: Jim is trying to get Tony to go to the airport. Tony: I can't do it to her. I can't marry her. Do not tell anyone about this illness. I can't help the way it's going to look. I'm definitely calling off the wedding. I simply cannot marry her when she would then have to take care of me for the rest of my life, as an invalid.
Tony & Jim make their farewells. Tony to try to get an earlier flight. Jim says he still thinks Tony has that fellowship sewed up for next semester.
