Members Mitch64
Yes, he would be in his office (but aces for the show showing him still working ) talking to Tom and also Ellen....(David was missing and Ellen would go to Chris to talk to him..) then they had him in group scenes, a party at Babs and James, sitting in the waiting room with Annie having her kids, and I think at Margo's shower when they hear John is "dead". Too bad as Chris even with Nancy on screen, could have been the wise Judge Lowell character, but the show just dimished him so much. Wagner claims that he started to physically fail after they took him off contract and you can see that he is mainly sitting In scenes.) When Nancy comes back for Bob's wedding Chris is "sick" in Arizona and when they return he needs to be helped to walk (Marcy and Stewarts wedding ) and is again mostly seen sitting down with only a few lines..which I think is great that the show PTB at that time treated him was respect and gave him as much work as they could. Wagner had a contract she was listed in the credits with the rest of the contact cast...I think she meant she never had 4-5 days a week as Nancy as she was always support. Plus, as Datalounge says, Wagner could be "vinegary" !
Members Mona Kane Croft
Yes, I think it must have been some kind of misunderstanding. Surely she was on-contract. But in both interviews, she used the word contract, and said she never had one. I remember thinking she was wrong at the time. But I can't imagine how she got herself confused about that issue two different times.
Members Paul Raven
Thanks for filling in blanks re Chris. So maybe an average of one appearance a month? Thank goodness they wisely decided to bring back Nancy. I still recall her one off appearance at Tom and Margo's wedding(in location scenes only?) I wonder how that came about? Perhaps Helen was asked back repeatedly and refused? Maybe it was only recurring and she held out for a contract?
Members Mitch64 Posted yesterday at 02:25 PM Members Share Posted yesterday at 02:25 PM I thought that was weird to bring them both back for one episode on location (the one line, "Oh Chris, what is our grandson up to now" ) and not have them interact with any of the other characters, etc.(At the very least I would have had John say, "Look, were FAMILY now!!")

Members adrnyc Posted yesterday at 07:13 PM Members Share Posted yesterday at 07:13 PM Back from where? (Not snarky.) Was he having health problems or something?
Members Contessa Donatella Posted yesterday at 07:28 PM Members Share Posted yesterday at 07:28 PM (edited) Back from not working on a show. I mean, I don't know any details but that is what I took his posting to mean. It could be that he's ready to audition. He mentioned his youngest child being old enough now that he's an "empty nester" & posted a new pic. Very short. I suppose it's possible he could already have a new gig but that was NOT said. I went & found it. God, his daughter is really beautiful. Members Contessa Donatella Posted yesterday at 07:44 PM Members Share Posted yesterday at 07:44 PM If that is being applied to a contract player, that is the minimum guarantee, ¼ per week.
Members Mona Kane Croft
I saw something online with a photo last night, it indicated he will appear on B&B as a doctor. Not sure it's reliable, but it was posted on FB (not posted by Jon). Didn't he appear on B&B a few times several years ago? No idea who he played then, but I have a vague memory of it. Members Contessa Donatella
Right after ATWT went off the air, I believe he played a doctor on B&B for possibly a half dozen episodes.
Members Mona Kane Croft
OMG! I just watched the July 4, 1985 episode of ATWT on YouTube. If you haven't seen it, go right now and watch it! Chris and Nancy are back, and it's the Hughes 4th of July picnic (the first shown in an episode after several years absence). So many great scenes between the Hughes and Stewart families. And wonderful moments with Chris Hughes (Don MacLaughlin) who is obviously failing in health, but still strong enough to perform in a way that will bring tears to your eyes. Watch all the way until the final scene with the fireworks. If you love the Hughes family, you will cry. Susan Bledsoe Horgan was the head-writer, I believe. But it seems like a Marland episode. ATWT was definitely itself again during this episode. And we get mentions of the name Mary Ellen Walters. Some of you know what that forebodes later in the Marland era.

Members Mona Kane Croft
Sorry, I'm not sure. I just found it browsing. Maybe on Mitch's channel? But I really didn't notice. Sorry about that. This episode is definitely worth finding . . .
Members Soaplovers
It didn't feel like a Marland episode because the dialogue flowed better and I liked that mention was made that Ellen and Nancy weren't contemporaries unlike during the Marland era where it seemed as though the two were in the same generation. When Marland came on, all he really did was add Iva/Emma/Holden while adding Doug and Marsha to the already ongoing Frannie/Kevin/Marie story. I like that more 1985 episodes are coming out from before Marland's arrival that show that some of the things people raved about weren't generated/created by him.. but were elements he continued.
