OLTL: Discussion for the week August 9

Is it me, or does OLTL constantly have the characters remind us of everything that is going on in the stories? It feels like they are always summarizing EVERYTHING that just happened days ago, or reminding us of what happened with constant flashbacks?

I've noticed it more lately- but it's usually to help new viewers along so they don't get too confused right away and then don't come back. They are always trying to get new viewers- and it's hard to get them caught up without the "summarizing". It's annoying though !

I think doing it probably saves OLTL some more money.

I know it comes with the territory, but there are smoother ways to establish relationships for the audience without saying things like "my middle son" or "I was talking to your sister Natalie" et cetera. I like more natural sounding dialogue that gets you to ask questions just as you would if you were overhearing a conversation, or listening to your dad talk to your aunt about their cousins, you know what I mean? I think that's more intimate and involving storytelling.

Given how many stories are made up as they go along the recapping seems even more pointless. The only recaps I might enjoy are if they remind people that at Todd and Tea's last wedding, he didn't ever look at her and instead just told people she was good in bed. And that the wedding before that had a glass coffin.

It's a shame that recurring characters that are new get more airtime then characters like Nora, Marty, Matthew, Destiny, Clint, Viki, Dorain and Charlie.

Also hate the fact that Whinez(got from another board)gets more time with Bo then he gets with his wife Nora.

What is the point of Starr going to Ford's apartment?

Why does Jessica need to get Ford's medical records? Wouldnt it be easier and make more sense to get Brody's for comparison?

Did Rex ever find his parents?

He knows who they are. His mother is dead and decided not to look for his father thank God.

Give it a few months- he'll be the fourth Ford brother. Give it a few more months, and Mr. Big Bad Daddy Ford will be in Llanview to "collect" his sons...
