Members FrenchFan
On GL, Douglas Marland only began introducing his new characters in the spring: Kelly and Nola first appeared in the same week, the second of March while Morgan was introduced mid-April a week after her mother Jennifer. Lainie was not written out immediatly by Marland. Kathleen Kellaigh last aired in March 1981 where Lainie moved to Chicago with Carter Bowder (Alan Austin) whom she married there. From what I've read, it sounds like Marland did not use a lot Lainie and Carter, they were recurring characters.

Members Y&RWorldTurner
The Elizabeth Levin & David Cherrill era of The Doctors intrigues me. Was it well-received? I saw an episode from that era on YouTube and I was entertained, despite it being a rather ordinary episode.
Members Paul Raven
I think the Carter Bowden character on GL was referenced as being the son of Alex Bowden,a character from the 60's.
Members DRW50
That was a neat way for GL to honor their past -- Joe Campanella played Alex Bowden right? Y&RWT you might want to ask your question in The Doctors thread, saynotoursoap has a lot of good details about the show in these eras. I didn't know Vanessa was still on Y&R when it went to an hour. Members Paul Raven
Ernest Graves played Alex Bowden on TGL from 60-66.Like his son years later,he owned art galleries. It was a cool move by Marland to refer to the past like that.
Members DRW50
saynotoursoap has some of the early 1980 SFT episodes mentioned in these recaps. Some of the 1979 SFT stuff mentioned here is also on Youtube. The scene where Liza tries to get away from Nick -- chilling stuff, especially the look on his face. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiqGpS789gw
Members FrenchFan
It is funny to think SFT was one of the first to experiment the adventure style in late 1979. GH and DAYS were not really into this vein yet.
Members kalbir
1980 was a turning point for Y&R, with the 1 hour expansion, arrival of Victor Newman, the Williams family expanding, and the Abbotts being introduced (John and Jack at first, with Ashley and Traci coming on two years later). Does anyone recall Eric Braeden's first episode? I haven't seen it anywhere online.
