Now you've given me another opportunity to post this clip I love so much. Vanessa gone wild

I guess in a way it's a credit to Marland that he didn't immediately write Eve out -- the actress is competent but she seems very dull to me. I think that she was gone by early 1983 wasn't she, in a one or two line goodbye to Ross? Poor JvD lost all his potential love interests bam bam bam (Carrie/Eve/Amanda) and then after some quick stuff with Trish and Alex he ended up with that icky Calla.

Mitch has a good point about the casting for some of the young roles being less exciting than what it seems on paper. I was a bit...underwhelmed...when I first saw Annie, Dee, Beau. It's a bit jarring because the "older" characters (Lyla, Kim, Lisa) are far more vibrant than the younger women, with the exception of Margo.

All My Children

Written by: Agnes Nixon & Wisner Washam

Produced by: Jørn Winther

Chuck was jealous of Tara's friendship with widower Jim Jefferson. Donna reprimanded Palmer for preventing Chuck from seeing her, then asked Chuck for a divorce when he refused to adopt a child. Sybil refused to accept money from Cliff for her abortion. Langley lost Phoebe's ransom money in a shady business deal. Sean rubbed it in to Erica that Tom's kicking her out, but she refused to budge without a court order. Ellen agreed with Myrtle's suggestion that Ellen marry Mark to stop gossip about Ellen and Paul. Jerry warned Carrie not to get involved with Mark. Betsy refused to dine with Frank for fear it would give Nancy ideas they're more than friends.

Betsy came to the rescue when Devon passed out from booze and left Bonnie in the kitchen with the gas on. Kurt beat Leora because of an innocent dance with Sean. Leora was hospitalized, but Joe didn't buy Kurt's story that she slipped on broken glass while drunk. Estelle learned she's pregnant, and Benny, who gave her an engagement ring, isn't the father. Sybil chickened out of getting an abortion. Ellen agreed to marry Mark. Erica promised to put Brooke through hell before Erica gives up Tom. Palmer kept his vow to cut off funds to Daisy. Brooke asked Tom to take it slow in their renewed romance. Tad saw the error of his ways after Kelly lectured about her drug-abuse experiences to his classmates.

Sybil lied to everyone except Sean about her abortion. Palmer kept Chuck and Donna apart before Palmer whisked her off to Haiti for her divorce. Carrie told Jerry that Kurt had beat her mother unconscious and probably arranged it to look as though she died in a car accident. Paul batted zeo with pleas to Mark and Ellen not to marry. Ruth objected to Tara dating Jim because Jim is Charlie’s conselor. Estelle refused to believe she’s pregnant, since she insists that Billy never touched her. Carrie was concerned about Leora, who urged Kurt to see a marriage conselor. Ruth questioned Tad to learn if there’s a drug abuse at his school. Brandon learned Tom is Erica’s ex-husband.

Mark talked Ellen out of her last-minute doubts and they were married. Estelle refused to discuss Billy with her shrink and insisted she's having an hysterical pregnancy. Ruth apologized to Joe for neglecting him in favor of mothering Joey. Sean blabbed to Monique about Sybil's abortion lie, and Monique decided to tell Cliff the truth. Brooke put Tom on hold after Erica taunted Brooke at the wedding. Chuck called it quits in attempting to stop Donna from running off with Palmer to get a Haitian divorce. Devon fretted she won't be able to cope with Wally without Ellen around to bolster her.

Joey packed his bags and told Kit to get an annulment after a photo of her kissing Brad was published. Cecile taunted Pat that she can't handle her booze well since Pat is secretly drinking on the job. Rachel was hospitalized after fainting when she learned Brian convinced Zack to read “Harry Must Die”. Zack pushed Miranda to become a close friend of the Corys to get evidence against Rachel. Linda unwittingly told Zack that Rachel had once said Mitch would be better off dead. Larry blew a fuse when he learned that Clarice allowed Robert to visit Cory. Miranda sent Brad to comfort Kit. Blaine moved in with Jordan in the same building where Amy lives in order to keep tabs on Jerry.

Larry and Clarice's marriage crumbled as Robert insisted on a role in Cory's life. Margo told Jerry that Blaine is being dragged into Jordan's life beyond her will. But Blaine insisted to Jerry that Jordan can give her everything she wants. Blaine secretly tried to protect Margo and Jerry from Jordan's threats. Russ and Tracy moved into a new house, but Jason told her she won't be Mrs. Matthews while on the singing tour. Kit's priest realized she desires her old lifestyle more than a reconciliation with Joey, who's on a cross-country camping trip. Zach asked for a warrant for Rachel’s arrest. Cecile tried to humilaite Pat during a party with the punk rock group Cherry Vanilla.

Kit returned to her old “vampish” ways after she signed annulment papers from Joey. Pat drowned in booze believing Phillip will stay in Europe with the Duchess of Essex, a situation that Cecile pumped for all it’s worth. Amy worried that Kit is trying to win Jerry’s attentions. Robert begged Clarice to run away with him and Cory. Miranda lost Mitch and Janice’s tape and had doubts about helping to send Rachel up to prison. Zach told her that without the tape there’s no proof that Mitch helped poison Mac. Tracy was a smash hit in Frisco. Zach gave Larry a warrant for Rachel’s arrest.

Rachel was arrested but released on bail. Robert vanished but his ex-wife, Olivia, consulted with Russ about joining the hospital staff. Cecile spread gossip about Phillip and the Duchess which drove Pat further into the alcoholic pits. But Phillip resisted the temptation of resuming "the old fire" with the Duchess. Blaine refused to listen to Margo's warning about Jordan and told her to butt out. Blaine couldn't get Jerry out of her system and taunted Amy, which led Jerry to order Blaine to lay off Amy. Tracy feared that she'll give Zach incriminating evidence against Rachel. Clarice began liking Olivia, who spied around town to find out about Robert's Bay City lovers and wives.

John fumed that Bob took care of Andy so Kim could join Nick in Greece. John and Margo argued, and she made it worse when she gave him a sarcastic apology. Nick nixed the overtures of a village girl, Diana. Brad made love to Annie after Dee told him she wants Annie to be happy. But Annie realized something was wrong with their lovemaking. Lyla remembered that Margo wasn't fathered by her last husband. Lisa convinced Nancy to keep tabs on Joyce and Grant, after spotting them in bathrobes. Actually, Joyce tried her darndest but failed to seduce Grant.

Kim and Nick fell into his Greek bed after they agreed to marry. Barbara convinced James to rehire Margo after he'd fired her for breaking his horse-riding rules. Grant told Joyce that they had no future except as friends, but she managed to excite him with kisses. Lisa was on the warpath when Grant went to Joyce's birthday party for him before Lisa could arrange a bash. Annie threw Brad's gift of a fur coat in his face, saying she wants his body next to hers, not a coat. Steve helped Carol to get her mind off Jay's death. A mysterious villager didn't share the jubilation at Kim and Nick's engagement announcement. Cricket chided Margo for doing dirty stable work just to get a man like James, which Margo denied.

Brad made love to Annie to dispel her suspicions of another woman. Annie thought it might be Cricket, whom Brad hired parttime Carol and Steve examined the minesite where Jay perished. Joyce squirmed when Lisa and Grant went on a Florida business trip. John returned from his honeymoon and harassed Margo and Lyla, who remembered telling her last husband that Margo wasn’t his child. Cricket confided to Brad, but not Eric, that her modeling career collapsed because of a weirdo photographer. At Nick and Kim’s engagement party, a villager, Spiros, told Nick to go north of Athens to see “Raven”.

Margo snickered when James belittled Barbara for her inept horse riding. Barbara boiled when she learned James put a stopper on her new art job. Carol was in turmoil after Steve confessed that he didn't do everything possible to save Jay. Joyce subtly turned Teddy against Lisa, then spied on Lisa who prepared a seductive evening with Grant. John panicked when Dee and Brad went on a Chicago business trip. Margo admitted to Jeff that she'd like to tame James's "tiger" nature. Carol closed the case on the mine disaster and Steve admitted he stayed in town only to help her. Nick and Kim went to the "raven's" Greek farmhouse, where he saw Andrea.

Don and Marlena argued about her joining Kellam's staff. Liz didn't believe Neil when he explained that he didn't accept Kellam's bribe, and he got further in gambling debt. Leslie was peeved when Chris agreed to work with Mary on the marina's publicity. Julie felt Doug was cutting her off by catering to Lee. Alice urged Marie to tell Jessica that Marie is her mother. Asa went to Paris to handle the Nicole situation and accused Chuck of being too soft. Pat was unharmed, even though a truck tried to run her down. Karen told Larry she wants a divorce. Nicole gave her 'history' tape to Pat after realizing her room was bugged. But Asa made sure she didn't hear all of it. Lloyd, Ted's blackmailer, threatened to expose Ted unless Ted approves of Lloyd dating Tina and unless Ted makes him a partner in his “operation”. Mario was sued by a patient for treating the patient without a medical license. Peter was upset that Brad's “locking up” stunt caused Jenny to have second thoughts.

Pat heard Nicole's confession that Asa isn't Bo's natural father. Then Nicole disappeared after Asa secretly arrived in Paris. Marco and Edwina admitted that they can't stop caring for each other. Asa lured Bo and Pat to return to Llanview for their wedding rather than tying the knot in Paris. Asa ordered Chuck to buy a deserted mansion from Karen. Katrina considered leaving town rather than having her past exposed to Marcello. Nicole left Pat a note that warned “you're next”. Pat didn't tell Bo what she learned about Asa and Nicole. Mimi was suspicious of Asa’s actions, but he threatened she could end up dead if she noses around.

Asa told Pat that Nicole’s accusations are the rantings of a madwoman or con artist. Meanwhile, Asa kept Nicole in a private sanitarium and anonymously bought a deserted mansion from Karen. Karen pressured the maid Bridget to drop her lawsuite against Marco. Jenny decided not to file a restraining order against Brad when she witnessed how much he adores Mary. Dorian “heated up” to Herb after taking over his campaign. Marco and Edwina decided to tie the knot. Marcello met Katrina’s acquaintances from her prostitute days. Clint and Viki dated regularly. Larry met Nicole in the sanitarium. Asa pretended to approve of Bob and Pat’s upcoming nuptials.

Marco and Edwina had a "minister-less" wedding ceremony. Karen defied Larry's wishes by supporting Marco during the trial. Dorian arm-twisted the prosecutor, Sherman, to seek a maximum sentence for Marco, even though he'd agreed to plea-bargain with Marco's lawyer, Beasly. Clint asked Richard to investigate the woman (Nicole) in the sanitarium who called out for him, but Chuck secretly transferred her. Asa refused to give Bo control of Lone Star records. Asa gave pat an engagement gift brooch which belonged to Olympia. Marcello narrowly missed learning about Katrina’s past. Karen squirmed, fearing the baby switch incident would be exposed in court.

Brandon made a play for Erica. Joe advised Ruth to seek professional therapy. Carrie learned Kurt lied about going to a counseling session. Chuck accused Donna of messing around with Palmer. Under hypnosis, Estelle remembered that Billy raped her during the kidnapping at the cemetery. Phoebe encouraged Brooke to go full spped ahead with Tom, who proposed marriage. Zachary got in debt at the casino. Brian learned that a St. Croix desk clerk, beneficial to Rachel’s case, has died. Tracy was subpoenaed for the prosecution.

Rachel refused to plea-bargain for a lighter sentence. Brad confessed his love to Kit, who admitted she likes Jerry. Marianne and Rick hit it off nicely. Vivien, Miranda and Tracy's testimonies were damaging to Rachel's case, and she worried when Tanner was called to court. Amy suckered Jerry with the old "I don't want to get hurt by love" line. Blaine assured Zachary that his credit is good at Jordan's club. Liz tried to get the low-down on Olivia. Larry passed his bar exam but offered to work undercover as a crooked cop in order to expose Jordan. Cecile taunted Pat that she’s commissioned a story about men who live off rich women, implying Phillip fits the mold.

Joey returned, hid his love for Kit, and accepted a casino job. Jerry broke off with Amy because of Kit. Jerry learned Larry will be his undercover contact to nail Jordan and his boss, Jeff Cooper. Pat found herself in Phillip's loving arms upon his return. Jason squired Olivia, who was thrown together with Russ while Tracy toured. Captain Ben Petroni warned Larry he might lose his family and friends by posing as a crooked cop. Zachary put Tanner on the stand, but Rachel stopped Brian from cross examining him. Brad got hot under the collar because Kit rebuffed his advances. Amy's jealousy of Kit made her threaten Miranda again to get Jerry in Amy's corner or Amy will expose Miranda's intentions toward Mac.

Mac broke down on the witness stand and later shunned Rachel when Zachary revealed that Mac was sterile from Janice's drugs and couldn't have fathered Rachel's baby. Rachel confessed she's carrying Mitch's child, and the jury deliberated. Miranda trailed Mac to offer him her special brand of comfort. Cecile also eyed Mac after learning that Jamie may not be Mac's heir-apparent. Brad went into a rage when Kit nixed his marriage proposal, and it was revealed he once had a mental breakdown. Rachel told Tracy and Russ she wants them to have her baby because if Mac doesn't want Rachel, he sure won't want someone else's child. Larry began his coverup by making Clarice believe he's spending money wildly.

Mac returned to court to hear that Rachel was sentenced to eight years in the slammer for murdering Mitch. In his isolated mountain cabin, meanwhile, Mitch dreamed of the shooting. Rachel insisted on giving Mac his freedom, and he didn’t resist beginning a divorce. Jason encouraged Cecile to move in on Mac before Miranda makes too much headway. Cecile decided to pursure kingpin Mac rather than small-fry Jamie. Rick and Jerry investigated Brad’s mental history because Kit fears Brad’s outbursts. Joey and Kit’s annulement was finalized, and he delighted the female clientel in his new job at the Arena. Phiip insisted to Pat that he won’t give up on her, despite Jenna’s overt behavior.

Kim returned to the States alone, after Nick learned Andrea survived the fire. Andrea explained that it was Steve's girlfriend who was found in the ashes, but Andrea ran away because of guilt that her and Nick's child also died. Andrea's been living with an ill man who fathered another child, Sofia. Lyla's sister Maggie arrived and reported she has flipped over Tom Hughes, who's still in Switzerland. James pacified Barbara with claims that he wantes her available for archaeological work. Don went to Laramie when Mary came out of her coma, while Joyce prepared for a San Francisco trip and alluded to an illness to get Grant’s sympathy. Brad persuaded Dee to continue working for Davis rather than working on John’s novel. Carol assured Steve she doesn’t want him to leave.

James sold a forged painting to bolster his faltering finances. Steve borrowed airfare from Carol to fly to Greece to confront Andrea. John acted interested in the mine to keep an eye on Dee and Brad, then accused them of hankypanky. Joyce stole her Frisco doctor's stationery, then spied Lisa undressing at Grant's house. Bob and Lyla agreed not to rush into a romance, but were stranded at an inn. Nick left Andrea to plead his love for Kim, but Kim split with Andy for parts unknown. Barbara was flustered by James's harping about her bad taste in clothes and hairstyle. James interrupted Jeff and Margo's romancing with an offer for her to train a race horse. John made Ellen cry by refusing her Thanksgiving family dinner invitation.

Grant explained to Joyce that Lisa passed out on the sofa. Lisa had allowed Joyce to believe there was a seduction. John spied Brad and Dee secretly meeting and assumed the worst when, in fact, they were agreeing not to ever be alone together again. Steve couldn't locate Andrea in Greece, but learned her current husband died. Andrea arrived on Nick's doorsteps after he asked Chris to start divorce proceedings. Barbara blamed Margo for neglecting babysitting duties when Paul was rushed to the hospital. The cook was at fault but shifted the blame to Margo. James made a mysterious Egyptian business deal. Joyce forged a letter that states she has a tumor and arranged for Grant to see it. Teddy moved to Laramie. John drove Dee crazy with his jealousies and accusations against her family.

Barbara fired Margo, who played up to James in order to keep her stable job. Annie believed that John's accusations about Brad and Dee were the rantings of a mad man. Dee locked out John. Grant found Joyce's forged doctor's letter that she's dying. Nick informed Andrea he's filed for divorce in order to marry Kim. Steve pursued Andrea to confess that he was consumed by "love grief" while she was presumed dead. Carol noticed Steve's interest in Andrea, but shrugged it off as guilt about the fire. Joyce admitted to Grant that she'd like a chance to remarry Grant before she dies. Maggie decided to open a law office. James arranged a Cairo trip with Dr. Wilson. Nick was unable to contact Kim.

Kim returned to Nick’s arms. He insisted he still wants to marry her rather than reconcile with Andrea, who plotted to win him back. Brad gave Dee tranquilizers to deal with her decision to leave John permanently. But John used a duplicate key to sneak into her apartment bedroom. Lisa was perplexed by Grant’s concern for Joyce’s welfare. Andrea refused to tell Steve the whereabouts of the “Green Fire” necklace. Steve was attracted sexually to Andrea while courting Carol. Eric kicked out a photographed who insisted that Cricket resume “modeling”. Lyla worried that John owns a gun. Dee witnessed John in an hysterical outburst, and everyone was concerned he’s going off the deep end.

Tod begged Jessica to lie for him because the cops wouldn’t believe that Cassie’s death was accidental. Julie resigned herself to the fact that Doug can’t divorce Lee because Lee wouldn’t be able to finish her therapy. Maggie got wise to Lee using the situation to her advantage. Mary made Leslie sweat thinking Chris will find out that Alex is the secret backer of the marina. Chris refused to deal with Alex again and Mary has her attentions geared to Chris. Alex was disturbed when Marie refused to help Jessica’s turmoil and sent him to handle the mess. Marlena blamed Don when Kellam lost the governor’s race. Mike visited Trish and they reminisced about past heartaches and hopeful futures.

Chris hit the road after learning that Alex owns the marina. Mary forced Leslie to tell Chris, who was unsure he could trust Leslie when he returns. Don and Marlena separated. He nixed seeking a reconciliation after finding Kellam comforting Marlena. Trish offered to help Neil with his gambling debts. Kellam insisted that Tod continue lying about Cassie's death. Jessica lied to save Tod's neck, but Alex advised her to tell the truth at the inquest. Liz was hostile when Neil suggested a reconciliation. Marie insisted that Alex help Jessica since he has a stake in her life, namely as Jessica's father. Max cautioned Kellam about “making the same mistake twice” with Marlena as he did with Sunny.

Marie explained to Alex that they are Jessica's parents. Tod and Jessica were charged with Cassie's murder after Don got testimony that they had lied about the incidents of that fateful evening. But Joshua remembered witnessing Cassie's accidental drowning. Tod and Liz walked out on Kellam for forcing Tod to cover up the truth in the first place. Liz realized Neil was Kellam's pawn, and Liz and Neil had a tentative reconciliation. Kyle had a therapy setback and Maggie pleaded to be allowed to continue helping him. But she cautioned Mike against teasing Mickey about her and Kyle. Mary goaded Leslie about being left high and dry by Chris. Kellam snatched a kiss from Marlena. Marie begged Alex to keep the secret of Jessica's parentage.

Joshua's testimony cleared Tod and Jessica. Kyle fantasized about Maggie, while she assured Mickey that Kyle can't break up their marriage. Mike and Trish realized their friendship has rekindled "the old spark." Neil had Lee tranquilized when she ranted about discontinuing therapy if Doug leaves her in the penthouse with a nurse while he cavorts with Julie. Marlena spent Thanksgiving with Kellam and Johnny, then tried a reconciliation dinner with Don which ended in shambles. Liz and Neil fell into each other's arms after he borrowed money from loan shark Pippin to pay gambling debts. Jessica nixed Alex's offer to locate her real parents in deference to the memory of the Blakes, who raised her. Tod asked Julie for a job because he's having a tough financial time since walking out on Kellam.

The loan shark closed in on Neil to collec his debts. Neil had convinced Liz that he had stopped gambling. Lee forced a nurse to walk off her case, since Lee wants only Doug to tend to her. Tod avoided Jessica at every turn. Alex offered Leslie a job she couldn’t resist. Joshua was rattled that Tod is working for Julie. Jessica decided to move into her own apartment and Joshua expressed his affection. Kellam moved in on Marlena after her failed attempt at a reconciliation with Don.

Greg told Nikki she can’t separate him from April and that Nikki's seduction tactics don't heat him up. Victor realized that Derek is slowly going bananas because of Kay's "death." Kay may need an amputation unless she returns home for treatment.

April refused Paul's offer of child support.
