Judith Light as Karen Wolek? One of the best scenes in TV history.

I'm not sure you can compare Karen Wolek to Luke & Laura or Erica Kane. L&L and Erica transcended the soap genre and are still well-known to non-soap viewers. Judith Light is an incredible actress, and Karen's moment on the witness stand is definitely one of OLTL's as well as daytime's most iconic moments, but I'm not sure the average person on the street would remember the character. You could probably make a better argument comparing Viki to L&L or Erica. That would be a more apt comparison IMO.

I'm curious if she likes the Greenlee that the character has become, cause she's sure not the same Greenlee AN created, she's got some shades of that, but nothing remotely like that character.

Tad's unrecognizable too these days, other than those I agree

"Hey look, it's that chick that did Who's the Boss. Angela's her name, right? Yeah. What's that, she was on a soap? Ooooh. Damn, that's pretty cheesy!"

ETA: Why a "Top-8" list? Why stop short of an even Top Ten?

She fell asleep?

All of that is true, OLTL is the redheaded stepchild of ABC daytime. Kassie DePaiva even said in an interview, ABC favors GH and AMC over OLTL and theres nothing they could do to change their minds.

Also Nixon couldve said something nice about creating the character of Victoria Lord and Niki Smith. All she talks about is Erika Kane Erika Kane Erika Kane. Im sick and tired of hearing about Erika Kane!!

OLTL isn't known by many. If you ask someone which soapo Agnes is going to be associated with, its always going to be AMC. AMC has been more sucessful throughout the years and Agnes "wrote the bible for AMC first" before OLTL.

So much so that you spelled her name like Erika Slezak. I understand how you feel, but just as iconic singers have their signature songs, AMC is Agnes' signature show, the one she's been the most involved with, the one that is nearest and dearest to her heart. We have to remember that she created AMC back when she was still working for P&G, on paper, it's older than OLTL. That's how we got Erica and Mona on AW in the form of Rachel and Ada.

Speaking of which, I thought it was a nice touch to include Robin Strasser in the tribute even if Agnes didn't create Dorian, because fans like us know the Robin/Rachel history, through Cristina Karras, to Dorian.

But Agnes has said some wonderful and interesting things about One Life over the years, sometimes it just takes a little more digging to get to that stuff. EVERY time I've seen her talk about Carla Gray she chokes up and her eyes fill with tears.

If anything, I think the Loving fans are feeling the most gypped, was there ANY mention of Loving during that tribute?

I also agree that "Top 8" is an odd number. My guess is that the reporter asked he to start naming some names and she did it off the cuff and he kind of worked out a list. (??) I guess he could have divided some of those couples to make ten, but adding in some more like Palmer or Myrtle or Billy Clyde to round it out would have been nice.

And Phoebe!

Well said. The only Loving we got was a brief clip of Luke Perry--we did see the City logo though (which I don't think Agnes had much involvement in at all--in the TV archive piece she seems confused when even asked about the show...)

But the gripes of some that Agnes has abandoned One Life are *laughable*. She trained Gordon Russell (who arguably wrote the show better than she did) for a year before leaving it with him, as shown in All Her Children, AMC was her first real creation as SFK says, and unlike the Bells (and I think this is unfortunate) shbe didn't feel she could control the production AND artistic side of her shows, so was eager to sell them to networks after the 5 year rule (which never happened with Loving) Besides which, why would she talk about Vicki in a piece about the top AMC characters?
