As much as it pains me to say it, and I am sure a lot of AMC fans would burn me at the stake, I actually really liked this temporary recast:

Especially since it was not like Nader was even trying to act well anymore.

I wish someone would post Carole Shelley as Iris. Not sure when I'll get my hands on those eps...

Abaddo was his usual bland hunky self, but this had nothing to do with Dimitri or anything Dimitri had been as a character.

If I could upload to Youtube then I would put the Shelley scenes with Mac and Rachel in her last few days.

I liked Abaddo as Dimitri. He was no Michael Nader and all the ethnicity of the character was removed with the recast, but I thought he was adequate enough.

That was my problem with the recast - there was nothing left of Dimitri. There hadn't been for quite a while anyway, so it was probably for the best they dumped the character.

In the longterm I might agree but they needed to someone there to write the character off and for the short 4 months he was there, I thought he was an adequate replacement. Im not sure I would have wanted him to stick around indefinetely, but I had no problem with him being there as they wrote the characters off the canvas

I agree with you there, I was speaking mostly of some comments over the years and at the time which said he should have stayed, he was great, etc. I think Nader was what made the character work.

Your welcome, can't wait to post it. She was interesting. She only had 1 scene and 75 % of it was just her voice since she was calling Scott from Los Angeles.

They pretty much styled her hair like Lauren's and added (at least what i think ) a bit of red in it. I think she tried doing Tracey Bregman's nasal voice back then too.

oooo... I would love to see this. Tracey was such a compelling actress at that time. I would love to see what someone else did with the Lauren role. What prompted her departure?

Tracey was just on marternity leave. She had just given birth to her son Austin. :)

I always have to wonder, with so much time to prepare an actresses' maternity leave, how does production still necessitate a recast.
