Sharon Gabet said she was offered the role of Lydia Farr on OLTL (a countess in Venice who made a play for Asa), but she turned it down. She then said they had to cut Lydia's story down significantly because they didn't like the actress they cast. It looks like that was Marianne Tatum, who played the role in 1985.

Richard Van Vleet auditioned for the role of David Thornton before being cast as Chuck Tyler.

Opera star Rise Stevens auditioned for a role on A World Apart. She didn't get it, but they did cast her son, Nicholas Surovy.

You posted something in the AWA thread the other day, I had no idea that Rise Stevens was his mom.

Neither did I until recently. Too bad they didn't get her in a cameo role on AMC, serenading Erica or something. Erica recoils and tells Mike, "Who was that? Your mother?"

A November 1992 SPW interview with Terry Lester mentions that he chose ATWT over playing Frank's father on GL.

Imagine how different GL had been if he'd been Buzz Cooper...

Deane Hamilton was initially cast as Rob Corelli, Marco and Gary's brother, on OLTL. Instead they had him play Ken Romak, and Ted Marcoux was cast as Rob Coronal, now their cousin.

That's interesting timing... She was on the Shapiro's other night time soap, the short-lived Emerald Point NAS. Pamela Sue Martin had just left Dynasty... Ward's character on EP was very similar in energy to PSM's Fallon - and their voices and mannerisms were also alike at this time. I have to wonder if she was being courted as a recast (to occur sooner than what ultimately happened with Emma Samms a year later). Other than Amanda or the disposable character of Nicole Simpson, there were no other significant female roles to debut that season.

On his facebook page,Eric James says that he beat out Desi arnaz Jr for the role of Jim on Bright Promise.

Don't know if this has been mentioned-Marj Dusay,who subbed for Louise Sorel as Vivian on Days,had originally auditioned for that role.

That's interesting. They should have cast Desi Arnaz Jr. He was in the gossip magazines a lot at this time and would have brought some publicity.

Liz Keifer auditioned foe Eve on GL before getting the part of Blake.

In a SOD interview in May 93,Yvonne Perry (Rosanna ATWT) mentioned auditioning for Dixie (AMC),Jenny (GH),Kelsey (AW) and even Eleni on GL,with her hair dyed and a Greek accent!

Kimberlin Brown tested for Cassandra on Y&R before landing the role of Sheila.

Tonja Walker,Catherine Hickland and Janine Turner tested for Tina on OLTL before Karen Witter was cast.

Rick Lohman, after being cast as Gary on Search, said in an interview that he'd screen tested several times for Phil on AMC, and was seriously considered for the part before they cast Nick Benedict.
