Louise Shaeffer

This guy at welovesoaps gets the best interviews. A few months back it was Larkin Malloy, and now it is Louise Shaeffer, who of course played Rae Woodard on RH, among other roles. I don't know why LS was so memorable to me when I was a kid, but Rae always interested me and I wasn't really an avid RH watcher. Just the occasional glimpse on a commercial interested me.

sorry I spelled her last name wrong in the title and don't know how to edit it.

I enjoyed that. Was hoping they'd talk about her time on AMC, more behind the scenes stories.

AMS, it's too bad that Beverlee McKinsey never got that call from Linda Bloodworth-Thomason. I've recently seen some episodes of her Filthy Rich online, so many of our favorite soap stars would have of course been perfect for that material. I don't really keep up with the web soaps, but I hope someone's listening and invites her onboard. Julia Barr, Jill Larson, Linda Dano, and David Canary were working on something, I hope that eventually comes to pass.

They mentioned All That Glitters. Does anyone beside me remember that soap? It was syndicated and aired evenings, starred Lois Nettleton and was all about this world with gender role reversal. It tanked I guess and it seems impossible to find any clips for, but it was really an interesting premise and the 70s had such stark stereotypes, you can imagine how they had the women and men behave.

Vee, did you hear that brief accidental mention of your favorite OLTL character Rae Cummings

She would have been a fantastic Laura Horton. I think she also would have been a good recast for Jackie Marler. If Jackie had come back from the dead it would have given Phillip so many great stories.

It's always interesting how many soap actors go on to write novels. I wish I'd seen more of Louise's work outside of Rae Woodard, although it's probably out there and I haven't looked enough.

She was a revelation as Rae Woodard. This was a character who in the hands of a lesser actress would have been pure hell to watch, yet she always gave Rae not only intelligence, but also vulnerability, and sly humor. She was at her best in scenes with the other force of nature on the show, her polar opposite, Maeve. The scenes where she would try to get Maeve's approval, then finally she bitterly confronted Maeve after Frank dumped her, they were some of the best you can find in daytime.

And the one where she almost threw Kimberly off the balcony. Almost...

What a great interview! BTW, Nelson looks as if he could be LS's son (if you look at her picture from her RH days and his current pic) - gorgeous paper cutting cheekbones.

I loved her comment about being told she wasn't sexy enough to play a nun. I love Nelson Aspen for mentioning Lisa Peluso, even if only in the context of talking about MC being fired, LOL! Love LS's comments about the 'melting pot' experiences. She must have missed that working in daytime.
