Yep, I said it :D

It's amazing the reaction this is getting on popjustice and other forums--nearly everyone seems to have vastly differing fave and least fave tracks. Many think it's backloaded--the second half is better, etc.

Cupid Boy sounds like Can't Get You Out Of My Head redux. Get out of my way...just ho hum....not feeling the album at all..sorry Eric.;) I think it's going to flop big time! Not a very good CD IMO.

I didn't know Kylie did a cover of this song. It's a bit bland compared to the original song but she does better than I would have expected.

Give Me Just A Little More Time is one of my favorite Kylie songs from a very underrated album, Lets Get To It. I love the video and how playful and sexual it is. I hate that she doesn't really perform songs from that album anymore. She even finally dropped Finer Feelings. :(

Q Magazine HATE it--apparently because Kylie doesn't reveal in it if she watches Lost or what her politics are (unlike most dance albums...) :D (The critic has a history of haiting Kylie--in articles and reviews)

Caroline Sullivan:

It's a shame Kylie bothers with albums – a couple of cracking singles a year would suffice, and eliminate the need for the likes of Stuart Price, Calvin Harris and, on one track, Keane's Tim Rice-Oxley to come up with enough plush padding to fill an entire album. Despite sharp production, Aphrodite is only as good as Kylie herself. And because her voice is limited to squeaks, exhalations and woe-begone sighs, it's hard to stay interested unless you happen to be on a dancefloor at 4am, which is probably the only sensible place to hear it. Lyrically, too, the emphasis on cliche ("Put your hands up if you feel love", "I'm surrounded by confusion/ I'm loving this illusion") lets her down. Perhaps thinking outside the box – an acoustic album? – is what's needed next.

Cliches work fine in dance music--Camilla Paglia had a great Salon article about disco and why lame lyrics like "Let's all chant" mean more on the dance floor than something from Bob Dylan would. Kylie's metacritic score is actually already stronger than it'sbeen in a good while.

I thought you didn't think the production was very good, Sylph? I assume the bolded bits are what you agree with--

She's also #1 and #2 on US Itunes Pop albums lol. WTF? How did that happen? No single and no promo yet the album is set to debut in the top ten in the US.

Well the iTunes top 10--or could she go top 10 overall? Her American press HAS been more positive overall than I've ever seen them before (She's at a 72% on metacritic). Anyway, I'm obviously very pleased... If not a bit surprised.

Dannii Minogue gave birth to baby boy in Melbourne on Monday

DANNII Minogue and her new baby son are bonding in hospital as they recover from a dramatic home birth halted at the 11th hour.

Complications midway though a planned home birth on Monday forced the star to be rushed to the Royal Women's Hospital to deliver her baby in safety.

Despite the drama, Minogue, 38, gave birth to Ethan Edward Smith on Monday afternoon and on Wednesday both mum and bub were recovering well with father Kris Smith in the hospital's maternity ward.

Leave your congratulations to new parents Dannii and Kris in the comments below

A short statement issued by Minogue's management welcomed Ethan's arrival, calling for privacy from the international paparazzi expected to flock to the hospital.

"Kris Smith and Dannii Minogue are thrilled to announce the arrival of Ethan Edward Smith on 5th July, 2010," the statement said.

"Mother and baby are doing well and dad is very proud."

Minogue was checked into the public hospital using an alias to keep the birth a secret; however, attention will reach fever pitch when Kylie Minogue arrives within days to see her nephew.

But as news of Dannii Minogue's abandoned home birth emerged, doctors issued a warning against the practice, saying it increased the danger for both mother and baby.

Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists president Dr Ted Weaver said up to half of all first-time mothers attempting a home birth had to be transferred to hospital due to complications.

"It is better if first-time mothers don't attempt a home birth or, if they do, they should be counselled about their risks and needs for transfer," Dr Weaver said.

The Australia's Got Talent judge shared her joy at falling pregnant in January.

Minogue admitted last year that she had not thought about starting a family until meeting Smith.

Minogue met the ex-rugby league star on party island Ibiza two years ago and they have been inseparable since, following each other between London and Melbourne.

The couple recently bought a $2 million home in the eastern suburbs.

Yah, big congrats to Dannii. I admit my initial appeal to her was just how she was always the flop sister--her music was like Kylie's but usually cheaper--I loved her 90s Girl album, and Neon Nights is a classic (and actually did well) but then she released track after track, and her Club Disco album to no success, which is part of the appeal to me. :D But with her success and exposure from X Factor, it'd prob be wise (baby aside) to try again now, if she ever is going to again.

Oddly, she did promo when Neon Nights came out in Montreal, that was the only stop in N America (!). I assume cuz her then boyfriend, racer Jacques Villeneuve lived there--anyway I got to meet her and see her do two songs at a PA at Musique Plus (the Quebec music channel)--there were maybe 25 of us there, but she was SUPER sweet (and surprised to see I brought my old singles that hadn't been released here to be signed) and had a surprisingly confident live voice.

Back to Kylie and Aphrodite, I'm a little surprised, knowing how expensive Xenomania are to work with, that so far their only two released tracks recorded with her for this album, Mighty Rivers and the very sweet Heartstrings, are bonus tracks (on iTunes and the Japanese release, respectively).
