The British Soap Awards 2010 helped ITV1 dominate primetime on Wednesday night, according to the latest viewing figures.

Spinoff show The British Soap Awards 2010: Let's Party drew 595k to ITV2 from 10pm and 62k (0.7%) on timeshift.

On BBC One, Junior Apprentice continued to struggle, attracting just 3.83m (16.5%) in the 9pm hour, down 200k on last week's debut episode.

Earlier on the channel, Holby City was watched by 4.32m (19.8%) from 8pm.

BBC Two's Springwatch: City Living With Simon King had 2.09m (9.6%) in the 8pm hour. It was followed by Monty Halls' Great Hebridean Escape with 2.13m (9.1%), up an impressive 820k week-on-week.

Crime drama NCIS attracted 1.83m (7.9%) to Five in the 9pm hour. Eurovision: A Song For Justin, in which Justin Lee Collins attempted to enter the Eurovision Song Contest, followed with 437k (2.6%).

Overall, ITV1 secured victory in primetime with 23.3%, ahead of BBC One's 19.8%. BBC Two came in third with 8%, followed by Channel 4 with 5.9% (+1: 0.7%) and Five with 4.8%.

Elsewhere, a double-bill of Chris Ryan's Strike Back delivered 386k (1.7%) and 386k (2.3%) to Sky1 from 9pm.

American Idol appealed to 299k (1.3%) on ITV2 in the 9pm hour and 82k (0.5%) on timeshift.

Random observation I've been think about comparing the UK and US soaps. If one had to suggest the counterparts of each of the four main UK soaps, (not taking into account the crap that all of them have become) I would say each of the main UK soaps US sisters would be the following:

Coronation Street - As the World Turns

EastEnders - General Hospital

Emmerdale - One Life to Live

Hollyoaks - Days of our Lives

Feel free to disagree.

Fair assessment, and in regards to Corrie and ATWT, you mean pre-80's and pre-Sheffer slow and coffee klatch-driven ATWT, right?

Yes, yes I do.

Suzanne Shaw is much more tolerable than that annoying git Kym Marsh. What are THEY smoking? At least they gave Sally Spode some much deserved kudos.

And was that a sling at Miller?

They seem to be pretty typical of a lot of the press over there, in that they rarely talk about Emmerdale (aside from having digs), they want to say more about Corrie and Eastenders. I'm not that surprised they are trying to prop up Kym Marsh, they get endless headlines from her.

I didn't enjoy this year's show at all. Right now, I don't think I'll be watching The 2011 EastEnders Awards next year.

Finally watched the awards! Judging by the clips, I thought Danny Miller should've won Best Actor. I think he'll have a bright future when he leaves. And for Best Actress Nina Wadia's clip was really good. Michelle Keegan

Yay for Hollyoaks winning Most Spectacular Scene. I thought Jamie Lomas should've won Best Exit too - the other exits weren't that impressive.

I didn't like this year's montage as much as 2009 and 2008 - maybe it's because it wasn't set a song I like. LOL

Yes. Eastenders won their category. They submitted the Stacey sectioning episode. Lacey Turner and Gillian Wright were there. So were Kara Tointon, John Partridge, Laurie Brett (the latter two presented an award).
