This also goes to show how people slapped themselves: first they were all screaming obnoxiously We want Thom Beirdz! and then it was Let's keep quiet about us screaming "We want Thom Beirdz!"

Completely hysterical. It was so going to happen, everybody with some sanity saw it coming. This development.

They hide behind Katherine. Their hatred for older women is masked because people can say they sure love Katherine, and her five minute romance with day player Murphy.

At this point Jill, like Nikki, is gone anyway, aside from these caricatures who pop up to be degraded, but if this gets Jess Walton more money to help her pursue other opportunities until the show finally does write her out, then I'm glad she's staying.

You'll be surprised here, but the reasoned side of me actually suspects what you write is correct. Especially because the 6-month "contract" was so heavily discussed...over and over.

The thought that this legacy story was reversed FOR NO GOOD REASON (beyond what you state) is intolerable. It's literally a truth I cannot acknowledge, because it bespeaks a cynical, creative rot that is just intolerable.

I think it shows how irrelevant the history of the show is to them.

What really bothers me is that they set it up to where Thom Bierdz would end up taking the blame, even though there are a number of other actors on Y&R worse than he was, and considering that he was never known for his acting and he hadn't been on any show in 20 years, he was much improved by the time he left.

Once again, someone else was scapegoated for their failings.

MAB got to pat herself on the back for her great gay storyline, and most importantly, Cane got to look like the good guy.

Don't forget Lily being sterile to prop Cane.

I wish they could at least mention Phillip in this current story, or have him comfort Jill, although I know if he did return he'd probably just join the queue in trashing her. For Cane to do this to Jill turns my stomach. I tend to like him more than a lot of people but most of the reasons I did like him have been taken away.

Who the hell would come up with HER as a suggestion? I guess at LEAST she's brunette. I still don't think any recast would have worked unless it was Dickson, and who knows if she's capable anymore. they kept saying they were hiring a "big name", Mel Harris is a big name? If they had their heart set on a former prime time star, my official suggestion was Jaclyn Smith. Maybe Jaclyn came with too high a price tag. I also thought Pamela Hensley would have worked very well, also.

Utterly, totally, and completely! There aren't good clips of her from those days, but I was mesmerized by her. I followed her to Dynasty (well, I was already watching), but after that, I didn't really follow her to Days or (Melrose? 90210?). She's the only reason I watched Finder of Lost Loves.

By the way, did you all see that classic-Y&R cast pic over at WLS this week? Alphanguy, this version of Brenda's Jill was the one I loved and actually missed...not the camp queen who returned after Adair.
