I'd like to see Richard Culliton get to headwrite a soap again, and do a good job with it.

I'd like to see Nancy Curlee on a soap again.

I'd like to see Guza fired.

I'd like to see Rauch and Sheffer replaced.

I'd like all the soaps to stay on the air.

Um, no way! Richard needs to stay at DAYS as their best script writer. SW is his best position.

This is my wish, year after year, that never comes true. I don't think 2010 will be any different. :( It will take a MIRACLE for "Robert Guza Jr. last listed as Head Writer on ....." to happen.

Agreed. And Hamner too. And I'd like to see Kay Alden and John F. Smith back at Y&R in Sheffer/Hamner's spot.

If LML gets the AMC job, I hope Hamner will follow his BFF.

I always forget about Hamner. If he does go to AMC I hope he doesn't inflict those awful "mysteries" on people. Who Killed Ovaltine? isn't quite the same as Who Killed Will Cortlandt?

You're probably right about Culliton, I just wish he got more opportunities to shape a soap, as I think he did well at AMC and at AW. I guess from what you said he's doing that at DAYS.

I know GH might not change at all without Guza, but I'd like to see them get the opportunity. Even the thought of McTavish returning doesn't scare me, because I thought she was better anyway.

My wishes for Y&R in terms of writers/producers/directors in 2010:

- I'd like to see Hogan Sheffer, Scott Hamner, Paul Rauch fired, and I'd like Y&R's breakdown and script teams to be trimmed and some better staff writers to get in there. Maybe Maria can stay on as a figurehead, if we can't get rid of her too, but those she leans on for creative support need to be fired and replaced by more competent people who understand soap opera basics and the essence of Y&R. I'd also like these ideally more competent HW's (or Co-HW's) do all the hiring or firing in terms of the writing staff.

- A smaller writing staff for Y&R with stronger script and breakdown writers, if that wasn't quite clear in my first wish.

- Maybe someone can get Trent Jones or James Houghton out from whatever rock they're under to help Co-HW/HW Y&R. I think they've more than earned it, but if that's not to be, I'll take Kay Alden and John F. Smith back.

- David Shaughnessy can come back to Y&R and take over Rauch's producing duties. Katherine Foster can also come back as producer/director. Anthony Morina can be fired as well.

- A new casting director for Y&R, too. Preferably a casting director with some theatrical experience.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- I want Guza to be fired at GH too, but I've also been wishing that for a good 6 years and nothing's ever going to happen on that front.

- I want AMC to finally get a stable writing regime in there.

This would be one of my biggest wishes, though I know it will never happen. However, I'm always up for miracles and surprises. I'd take her at any of the current soaps.

Shelley Curtis is going back to work and will be directing for AMC: LA. Not sure if it'll be more regular than her NY gigs (probably), but there ya have it.

Also, I previously reported that most of AMC's producers would make the move to LA...apparently not. Not sure about Ginger Smith, but Coordinating Producer Nadine Aronson and Associate Producer Enza Dolce have left the show.

And, not a big surprise, but Casey Childs did not make the move to LA either. Nor did Michael Pomarico.

I'm glad she's back in daytime, I didn't think she would, after that interview she gave in 2007 saying how over the genre she was and how soaps were no fun anymore.

I always thought she was such an unsung hero during her time at both GH and DAYS, the actors on both shows really loved her, but she rarely got enough credit for her contributions, which apparently was a lot.

    • A--I wish someone would post a better vid of the entire ball, as it must be out there. And B--nope. Evie is only in a small segment of the ball with Phillip, Rick and Mindy. She doesn't dance at all. Ross dances with Helena and Amanda. I'm not even sure why Evie is at the ball---Vanessa heartily disliked her. I did see that Billy actually asked Henry to introduce him to Vanessa, which I hadn't realized.
    • Honestly, they should've ordered more of 2000 Malibu Road for the 1992-93 midseason and aired it when Knots went on a break. That was probably their best shot.    Then of course they fumbled Central Park West by airing it in the 9PM slot instead of a 10PM slot where it would've been away from the Fox dramas. CPW got its best rating by airing randomly on a Sunday and when it was taken off the air for a "re-tooling", Party of Five's ratings actually had a spike, so clearly they were feeding off each other. But being a smaller network focused on a certain demographic, Fox could afford to be patient Party of Five, CBS couldn't...
    • Agree on Bruce Gray as Owen; they needed to cast star power. He was too lightweight against Kim and he had no chemistry with Frances Fischer except more gay buddy or daddy figure.  I loved Nola and Eliot together though. Lee Godart should have been longer term.
    • Andre has the worst fashion of the males which is off putting for someone as fine as he is. His jackets and sweaters look dated and no vintage does not work for him
    • I don’t recall MSW having a toy line in the late 80’s or early 90’s like all those Saturday morning cartoons did LOL but thought this was cute when I saw it in a vintage toy store yesterday:

    • Copying and pasting pasting this here as to not to derail the KL thread lol Wow I forgot CBS actually did try multiple attempts to come up with a soapy replacement for Knots on Thursday nights in the 10/9 slots for the 93-94 season.   Angel Falls had promise but CBS didn’t give it a fair chance. Latham’s Second Chances got even worse ratings than Angel Falls and wasn’t given a second chance when the Northridge quake destroyed the show’s sets. One West Waikiki looked gorgeous but was a blink you missed it affair. Finally we got Hotel Malibu, a quasi follow-up to Second Chances that stayed as the summer replacement series it was. CBS switched gears and had Chicago Hope air in the slot…against ER. It made the Top 30 but obviously underperformed below expectations. CBS gave up, and gave us 48 Hours for years there. It wasn’t until the 2002-03 season when CBS finally produced a Top 20 show for that spot with Without A Trace against an aging ER.
    • Of course I join in on wishing that Peacock & Corday & Sony would all together come to the conclusion that NOW would be a fine time to put some of these gems in the archive on full display!!! But, at the same time I'd like to give kudos to the fact that behind the scenes they've been doing the great work of preservation by taking tapes, etc. & converting them to modern digital formats. Besides the important fact of preserving them it means they are ready to go!
