I'm of two minds on this one. One part of me says "Good riddance!!!!" and the other part of me is sorry to see Braeden go because for several years I have enjoyed Victor however some of the writing for Victor especially this regime here in the last couple of months have made me despise the character. Braeden is terrific and I often think he has always infused his own big ego's energy into Victor. That said, Victor needs a break from the show--his character is still messed up and way off from the Sabrina disaster.

I'm done with Y&R. For them to do this is just so collossally stupid. I love your idea though alphanguy.

They obviously put Victor in the Hospital bed as a way to scare Braeden, and now for the rest of his time with the show, his days could be numbered with a sweep of a pen: Victor's body is rejecting Colleen's heart. and then it's off to pasture, and Jack gets a quip in about how his neices sweet warm heart couldnt adjust to Victor's cold body.

They will easily lose a million viewers over this, but a part of me hopes that EB stays gone so the entire show collapses in on itself and MAB & Co. get full credit (in the opposite sense) for destroying this show, because nobody's going to listen until the numbers start to drop off super-drastically. At this point I just don't care. Y&R is just becoming like a Sim City where you just let a bunch of disasters loose on the city to see how much damage you can do. This is very mean-spirited, but its from my apathy for the entire soap genre. Everything is overdone, nobody cares enough to make a change and no one has the dedication to "save" the genre. No disrespect to those who've invested the better part of their lives in their 'stories' but, the reality is that even after 10,20,30,40,50,60 or even 70 years, the story has an end somewhere, even if Y&R's is floating out in space. Y&R Fans: The decimation of GL is proof that it CAN and WILL happen in your back yard. I just didn't expect to log onto the boards/soap news sites for the first time in a couple weeks and see the ouster of TVGN.

Braeden needs work as much as anyone else, but at the same time he won't compromise himself either, he's a pretty pretentious - er, I mean... principled - man. I bet Brad Bell's made a few phone calls over this - I'm just sayin'... his father's greatest character coming to rest on his show and maybe raising the bar a bit all round? Hmm... they can't destroy the character any worse, and I think Victor on B&B full-time may make them rise to the occasion. Also, Brad will want to incubate him until TVGN can make his triumphant return to Genoa City under new management?

if Braeden were to be written out of Y&R, this story will be to the soap world what Michael Jackson's death was to the mainstream media this year. Prepare for the circus!

^ This thread became Y&R/Eric Breden central when the article it's linking to announced that Y&R had fired it's biggest star and one of daytimes biggest stars ever...kinda like when Martha Byrne left ATWT or the similar situations Jess Walton and Melody Thomas Scott. What do you think people should be talking about?

I don't know how much Van's acting issues have to do with JS. It's not like they even have that many scenes together these days. I think the problem is aside from Jon Hensley, who is generally decent, and Liz Hubbard, who makes infrequent appearances in scenes with Luke, most of Luke's scene partners aren't that great in the acting department. I really wish they would have Grandma Iva come to town and Luke spend a lot of time with her. Lisa Brown is one hell of an actress and also teaches acting.

blaming Jake S for Van's bad acting is jsut lazy and reaks of agenda pushing.

Truth is his acting does suck. Not because of Jake S, Not because of bad story, not because Martha left, or anything else other than the fact that he got lazy. Just like ulie Marie Berman does on GH actually.

Van can still act, he can still be great, but he has to put the effort in and not just read lines. But when mediocre and bad actings are accepted and praised why work hard at being good i guess?

I don't know if it's agenda pushing, but I do think that it's too easy to blame Jake Silbermann for Van Hansis and his acting. I think the longer someone stays on a show, especially a show as poorly written and produced as this one can be, you end up falling into bad habits unless you're some great artist. And with Van, I wonder if he was ever that much better than he is now. He doesn't seem all that different to me.

I just can't see Noah as being a big albatross for Luke. I would have no problem with them breaking up, but I don't think Van is going to drastically change or improve.

My apologies; I thought there was already a thread about it. It would be nice, though, to enter a thread these days that's not completely dominated by ONE little paragraph in a pretty lengthy article. If Braeden's Y&R exit has solicited such a strong response, maybe it should have its own thread so that other members can discuss other issues addressed in the article.

Speaking of EB though, I always thought he was a reknowned "diva"; if I'm not mistaken, he's played the "I want out" card before...and yet, he came back months later.

I never blamed JS for VH's bad acting; I said he stopped being good when JS came onto the show. Let's face it: the alcoholism story and the coming out story...Van knocked it out of the park. But as soon as Luke got a love interest, Van Hansis started phoning in lines. (Don't get me wrong...he still has his good days.)

I'm not blaming Jake. I'm just saying...Van was better before Jake ever came on the show. No agenda pushing here; I'm just observing and discussing like everyone else...

I really didnt eman you specifically. just in general, really.

and you are 100% correct. he did stop trying when Noah came around. Well, actually after Noah and Luke got together. From ther eon out it was just Van reading his lines. He isnt bringing Luke to life.

He, again like JMB on GH and various other talented young soap actors, gets board and lazy and just stops trying. Its sad. I dont really blame them, because really they are given pure crap... but at the same time they should try to make it the best the can.

Nuke has run its course tho. Why are they not broken up? Why is Noah still around? What exactly is Lukes role on ATWT? I wish the writers would answer these questions.
