Sigh...I know it's been more than 30 years, but you'd think he'd remember that Harley gave her baby up.

I couldn't tell if he meant Harley decided not to have an abortion (although I know any of that was before Harley was introduced to Springfield).

I don't think so. It wouldn't be the first time an actor has been misquoted in an interview. Though it also wouldn't be the first time a soap actor remembered a storyline incorrectly.

And goodness knows fact-checking has rarely been important in soap interviews. I also doubt the Cooper family was expanded around him....but I guess technically, I don't know who appeared first, him or Harley.

I'm just going to ask---on the Internet Archive, isn't there such a thing as established playlists? It seems to be a disorganized hit or miss jumble.

And if I want to watch episodes in the vault, I have to download them to my computer first?

Looking it up, Harley was first by a few months.

I don't know if Archive has playlists either.

Nevermind. I found some episodes where you don't. And y'all been holding out on me. I found 7-10-89 there in English!  I could cry. (Billy and Van's first scenes on their returns...)

Yes, that's the recommendation. The vault runs off the owner's personal cloud setup so it may lag or crash if trying to stream. And in general, nothing on the internet is safe so downloading and creating your own backup is always a good idea.

Well, bonus--if I'm ever in the mood to watch all four seasons of Get Smart---I found that.

No, I don't!  I just stream - open each episode in a new tab and watch. I'd say on average, the owner's personal cloud may be offline once every other week, but it never goes offline more than 1-2 days max. The episodes in the Vault have a much better resolution than the Blake Marler's YT ones, but the episodes do have all the full commercials, which I FF through, but it's also nostaglic to see. That's why I kept both the Vault and Blake Marlker YT version up at the same time. If the Vault were to go down now, I'd be screwed 😕

Well, yes, but Frankie D was cast first, but actors ego here, as he was cast as Johnny's brother, and Pam Long changed that to be Cooper, and created Harley.  I think Harley was a character banging around Pam's head for a bit, and when she came back she used the opportunity to create her and made Frank her brother as he must have been on contract already, and we saw how the writers before had a lot of ill defined characters they tried to tie to the core, Johnny, Chelsea, so she diverted that. Pam also said she was NOT interested in expanding the Bauer family (so people always accused her of hating them.)   I have no doubt that this is actors ego taking and I could hear production telling him "Oh, we built the Coopers around YOU" just to stroke it.

I would have been interesting to see if he had become this Todd Bauer...would "Harley" have been his sister...though I think Lacy was already cast. I liked the idea of a Bauer branch being more blue collar and not ascending to the upper middle class like the Springfield branch, but they were going about it all wrong.

I always got the impression that Harley was meant to be a mini-Reva. Desperate to escape her origins, money crazy, eager to climb the social ladder. I remember when she signed the adoption papers for Daisy, she told the Lemays her name was "Fallon," who was a character on Dynasty.

The parallels are even more clear when Dylan is introduced, who obviously was supposed to be her "Josh," (he was even a Lewis) though that never actually worked out the way Reva and Josh did. I don't think there was ever a big Harley/Dylan fan base.

I can't clearly remember, but did Lacey arrive during the previous writers, and Long wrote her out pretty soon after she returned? That's why I always wondered if Todd was planned and cast before she returned, and she turned him into Frank and created Harley. And wasn't both of their first episode the one when she gave birth to Daisy after Alan Michael and Dinah crashed into their car on a motorcycle? I don't remember Harley showing up first

Morgan Englund was so wrong for the part of Dylan and I could never understand why they kept him. Must have been someone at CBS who dictated that he couldn't be fired since he's Cloris Leachman's son?  He couldn't act period.  Pam Long ripped off her own plot with the Harley story. She was definitely Reva of 5th street.  But Harley and Frank were highlights of Pam's return run.  The Johnny cancer story was god awful.  Hated Chelsea Reardon (was never a fan of Kassie), Roxy was a mess. Rusty was a decent character but again, the performer in the role couldn't act. And I can't even with the Rose drug thing.  The Sonny plot was so convoluted I can't even recount it. But I know the five month strike had an impact.

That's exactly how I remember it. I'm pretty sure they were introduced at the same time, and in this exact dramatic way.

Could not agree with this more! He was not good. I suppose he was meant to be a broody hero, but he just seemed to be in a snit all the time. And IIRC, Englund complained that GL did not treat him well. Dude, you're lucky you had that job as long as you did.

Not just a bad storyline, it was a dangerous one. Implying that he was cured by prayer or God or whatever was INCREDIBLY irresponsible. To this day, I can't believe CBS and P&G signed off on that story.

Wait. If I understand your routine is to have two different versions of the same video, playing in two different tabs.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you but that is an awful waste of resources! Memory on your device, computer, phone or whatever. Plus, you are using the resources of two separate entities. But, you're only actually using one. So, if you follow, 50% is total waste. You are using the resources of two people. Doppelganger? unknown twin? Neighbor who is too cheap to get his own internet?

There were a couple that wouldn't play for me when I tried opening a new tab. Most have. Thanks!

He and James Goodwin look so  much alike. But neither are really interesting actors, so I don't think that new branch of Bauers would've amounted to much.

Definitely! Or 5th Street's version of Nola. It's ironic that she first pals around with Dinah, Van's daughter.  If Van had stayed in town in '88, that would've been an interesting dynamic.
