Y&R Casting Scandal?

I don't know why everyone thinks Victoria Rowell is going to come in and be the great savior of Y&R...I give her three episodes before the complaints start about another botched return from the dead story (the third in a year!), how she's not written in character (this isn't the Dru I remember!), how her storyline isn't going on anywhere (they can't write for black characters!, and how she's used too much and everyone's sick of her (Billy Miller syndrome! Remember when he was Y&R's great hope for salvation?)

I also think she's vastly overrated. Judith Chapman is understated compared to the scenery chewing Rowell does.

I got your botched return story right now, people. Dru returns with a secret white family which she has maintained for twenty years behind Neil's back. She carries the fetus of one such unborn child in a prop that has been on the Winters house set for a decade, indicating deep story continuity. Somehow no one noticed the smell. When questioned about this shocking deception, Dru cracks her gum and rolls her eyes at people with a heavy sigh.

Unbeknownst to everyone, Adam and Dru's mixed-race kid have begun conspiring together, as they are both psychotic and experiencing visions in which Dru's fetus comes to life and talks to them as an elaborate CGI puppet with the voice of Judith Chapman. Melody Thomas Scott will be fired yet again to pay for this CGI effect, in a story in which Nikki drowns in the same spot as Brad and Colleen.

Bring me my royalty money in a golden chariot driven by a unicorn.

There's been a hole in the Winters family ever since Dru went off that cliff. She's the catalyst for reaction in that family, without her, there's no real drama. She brings the drama. Though, had they known what the hell to do with that family instead of treating them like a bunch of tokens, the impact of Dru's loss wouldn't be as serve as it is currently.

That said, I don't want another botched return, and I have no faith in the current group of Y&R writers. If they have to craft a return story, I'd hope they would consult with someone that wrote for the character for years, like Kay Alden or Jack F. Smith.

But looks like that isn't even necessary...

She might be overrated but she brought something different to Y&R. Which they are missing. Thge ratings haven't been the same since she went over the cliff. Why they can't try it & see how it goes? They try to revist her through bland Lily but CK is too weak. Then they try through Tyra who needs acting lessons.

I don't see why Rowell, Stafford, Bergman, etc. would need to get together with MAB and work out an amicable agreement. It's not as if Y&R would be suffering any less if Rowell were still on the show. She's not some savior; she ain't no Obama :D

The only one who continues to make a stink about Rowell returning is Rowell. She's hard-up for a job, burnt too many bridges, and is now trying to crawl her way back. Hanging outside the CBS studios but can't get in? Don't know whether that's tongue-in-cheek or not... regardless, she's just looking pathetic now. Move on, honey. Write your book and foster some more kiddies.

All I'm saying we don't know what she can do until she allows to come back. These people they have on the scene now isn't doing anything for Y&R either. They had two years to prove that Dru or VR wasn't needed. & look where they are at now.

It could be the writing. But Even if the writing improves. Y&R still missing something.

    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
    • It’s not about a lack of faith and trust in MVJ, it’s about a a lack of faith and trust in Ron Carlivati, who I think can be very sneaky and manipulative when he wants to be.  And, all that “He’s just a breakdown writer” talk never changed my mind about anything, because at Days, it was “just a breakdown writer” that gave us some of the worst episodes I’ve ever seen.
