Members joshua2854
Interesting that GL may catch up or pass AMC/OLTL in its remaining weeks . . . Also, good for ATWT. . . it really has been getting better lately.
Members jfung79
Glad to see that GL will probably not limp to an end in the ratings a la Passions. Keeping its low, but not that much lower than the others, core audience, and bringing back old fans checking out the final days -- still seems wrong to type "final days" ... Members Faulkner
Those numbers are WOEFUL. ABC needs to do something quickly. But look at little B&B separating itself from the pack a bit...
Members dragonflies
It won't be long before AMC and OLTL are vying for the last place spot
Members Soapsuds
Just Wow....GL going up with just two weeks to go. I have a feeling CBS/P&G made a big mistake in cancelling GL too early. Yes, it's not the GL we once knew but the ratings are still not as bad as Passions got during its cancellation. Yay! for ATWT going up. It has been getting better.
Members Soapsuds
Yes it is...very sad if GL passes both shows the last week it airs. I think someone made a big mistake in cancelling GL.
Members Kryptonite
Call me crazy but for some reason I got this weird feeling that when Guiding Light shuts off its lights next Friday it won't be the final time. I think somebody out there will surprise us one day in the future and keep Guiding Light on air. Guiding Light is a legend and legends never die. Members Soapsuds
I have a feeling whoever made the decision will regret it...but who knows....I thought GL was saving money with their new production model. To cancel GL when OLTL and AMC are only .1 ahead sounds dumb to me.
Members jcar03
Since they sold all the props and wardrobe, I don't see the show coming back in any sort of facet.
Members brimike
It would be, if CBS owned Guiding Light. But they don't. ABC gets all the revenue from OLTL and AMC, whereas CBS doesn't get all the revenue from GL. They only get a licensing fee and a percentage of advertising. So the fact that OLTL and AMC get similar households to GL is like comparing apples and oranges. I wish it was as simple as just looking at the household number and thinking that was all that contributed to these decisions. Sadly, it's not. Members SpiritualJunkie
Wow, ATWT isn't that far from grabbing the #3 spot from Days. Nice to see GL rising as it nears its final hour. I still can't believe it's going off air.
Members quartermainefan
I know this is out there, but they should have just had GL come full circle and return to radio. It would be a smaller audience to be sure, but it would be a novel idea and the radio angle could have been the gimmick to get the audience to follow, just for the fun of it. I know to this day the BBC still has radio dramas including a soap opera. CBS had nothing to lose and should have given it a shot. I believe they have some sort of radio network anyway.
