Members P.J.
It's so weird hearing Liz talk about the producers being hesitant to cast her because she was "so different" from Sherry Stringfield. I've always thought they were so remarkably similar, it was freaky.
Members P.J.
Ugh...did they just screw with history again? Brandon was around when Phillip was 11? WTH??
Members MichaelGL
I didn't know how old Phillip was when Brandon was around. I wish they could have thrown in there that Alan had spent some time on a deserted island with Hope Bauer, thus possibly explaining why Alan seems to be doing well with this camping trip of theirs. Other than that, I think the scenes with the Spaulding men were great, almost made me cry in the end there with Alan telling Phillip that he loved him in his own special way. Nice use of history by bringing up the baby switch. Despite the possible mess up with Phillip's age, I like that we got some insight into Alan's complicated relationship with his father. GA and RR played off each other so well. Some missed opportunities with them not focusing enough on how Josh dealt with Reva's passing in 1990, thus making him the perfect person to help Reva who is the widow this time. I think in the last segment of the show, while Reva was alone with Collin, KZ actually did a good job compared to her scenes earlier in this episode. Members P.J.
Well, my knowledge of the whole "Brandon has a black mistress" is a little sketchy, but that had to be the mid-'80's. Brandon was supposedly dead before Alan showed up in Springfield in the late '70's, and Phillip was a teen then. Whatever..maybe it's just never been addressed before. I can appreciate all this male-bonding stuff. But it makes poor Alan-Michael less than chopped liver. I know they can't get Rick Hearst...but I wish they'd call up Carl T. Evans and at least pay Alan's remaining biological son some lip service.
Members DRW50
I'm not sure of the aging but apparently Brandon was alive up to 1979. http://www.soapcentral.com/gl/whoswho/brandon.php I do wish they'd brought Carl Evans back as Alan-Michael. I also would have liked to have seen some mention or visit from Amanda.
Members P.J.
Wow...I had no idea Brandon was actually a character on the show for a little while and had dealings with Lucille Wexler (boy, there was one scary bitch I remember.) Live a little, learn a little.
Members DRW50
The only reason I remembered was because somewhere, I don't remember where (possibly on the primetime anniversary special) I remember a clip of him in the hospital or home talking to Lucille or someone. He was near death. Or "death", I should say. I wish that more of that era was available. The Dobsons and Doug Marland built so many huge chunks of material in their tenures, even if future regimes did their best to destroy much of it. Members EastMA2
In typical soap oepra fashion, Brandon died on screen, then a few years later it was revealed that he faked his death and was in Barbados with his other family. I remember writing to P&G at the time to say how disappointed I was in the rewrite of history and I did get a form letter response saying something to the effect that they had to use dramatic license at times in order to tell interesting stories. I'm sure that these days, they don't even respond to re-write protests because that's all they'd spend their time doing. lol As an aside, I do have to say that I'm impressed that CBS keeps showing weekly promos of GL. I'd expected them to stop promoting the show and just let it be forgotten.
Members MichaelGL
I'm not surprised that they'd advertise GL, bc the promo involved Jeffrey, a character the TPTB seem to think has a large fanbase.
Members DAMfan
All of the Edmund bad stuffed could be blamed on Jon Doe in the lake - then the real Edmund [only DAM] could return - maybe his daughter Lara is with him - E/L finally have baby Henry and a family and Josh/Reva enjoy their first grandchild. Members P.J.
I'm confused. I thought "Edmund's" body disappeared from the morgue. Why is everyone saying "the guy the murderer thought was Edmund"?
Members rsmith2k2
I did not understand why Dinah worded her confession that way. Was the attempted Henry kidnapper (who everyone thought was Edmund)/murder victim in disguise or something? Are we supposed to give Dinah a pass for killing someone besides SuperDuperEvilEdmund because any random kidnapper deserves to die? I would sincerely appreciate help on that. I must have skipped the actual day of Edmund's murder or FF'd. Damn the show for making Dinah the killer. *pouts* Why can't it be the Orange One? I didn't want Dinah's story to be sad at the end. Now Dinah's rightly down and out having nearly let her wannabe fiance's mom take the rap killing a man. Even if Dinah marries Shayne (sp?) (just spec), it would be bittersweet at best for me. Not sure what GL would have me take from grand finale for Dinah Marler. Loved GT's quiet performance today anyway, very moving for me. You can really see the toll of Dinah's secrets in her eyes. Members MichaelGL
I agree, if anyone should have a happy ending on this show, it should be Dinah.

Members DRW50
I'm not sure what thread this should go in, but it's a very good Maureen Garrett interview. She minces no words about GL's current filming style or the story she hated the most. http://tvguide.sympatico.msn.ca/The+Soapgeist+July+27+2009/Soaps/Nelson_Ratings/Articles/090727_soapgeist_NB.htm?isfa=
