She's not on a lot now, but when she started, she was frontburner for a long time with the whole Brad relationship and reliquary. It doesn't matter how unpopular it was, she was still front and center and they gave her plenty time to establish strong bonds behind the scenes. At this point, I bet MAB and PR came to the show thinking she is Victoria and since viewers have accepted her, just let her be. Instead of recasting and making the character viable, they just stick her in the background like several others they show little interest in.

Unlike Cassie, this other twin was adopted by a very wealthy family who gave her all the love and support a child could ask for. Like many couples, they desperately wanted children but were unable to conceive and rather than wait for the 5-7 years for a legal adoption went with the shady lawyer. Once getting their hands on a baby, the couple was able to conceive and produced several children of their own, but loved Cassietwin no less.

When Cassie died and her picture was flashed all over the news, the family fled to Europe to ensure Cassietwin never found out that she was adopted instead of being their biological daughter, as she's been led to believe. Nonetheless, Cassietwin has been struggling with a deep loss that she and no one can explain that has left her feeling lost and empty despite her very loving family.

After a certain amount of time passed, the family moved back to the US so their daughter could attend Harvard. She could be the youngest graduate ever and that results in Cassietiwn making the news. Sharon sees this picture of her daughter and tracks her down. Expecting to have an instant mother and daughter relationship, Sharon is quite surprised that Cassietwin is not interested in playing happy families as the “replacement” daughter for poor depressed Sharon. However, due to being lied to all her life, she starts becoming disillusioned by her "real parents" and becomes vulnerable to all sorts of shenanigans, maybe at the hands of “evil” Adam.

I think the main reason was that while Cameron started off as a total natural, her acting got very stiff and forced. I do however think that that was due to a combination of lack of training, increased demand, and an inability to rely on her cuteness. The acting could have been worked on and I don’t think the looks were a factor because we loved Cassie, and if looks are all that, then why are we still lobbying for Heather Tom to return as Victoria? She's never been a great beauty but her acting ability transcends the superficial.

I’m really surprised that no one has mentioned Sharon’s therapy session. I just loved it. It was exactly what I was expecting from Sharon, she’d tell the doctor all about her sad and tragic life. She’d leave out all the important details of her recent activities, only to lay them out and then run out of the room, unable to deal, when the doctor tries to dig deeper and analyze where it is stemming from. She is like any other addict who has no hope in hell in recovering until they want to. Sharon’s too busy benefiting as the victim to really hit rock bottom, and get to a place where she wants to quit, and will open her eyes and ears and accept the help to do so. Until then, she’s going to continue to apply a sexual band aid and pull down everyone around her.

On a side note, I like that they brought back their in-house shrink who coincidentally plays Toni Collette’s multiple personality shrink on the United States of Tara.

Ok, all this private time with Mac, finally, where we see Ford really begin to shine, and it's all about Billy?!?! And she doesn't get flashbacks like Chloe does, she gets a damn CD to listen to and obsess over? God, this story is on the cusp of being so great, why can't it be dammit?

OTOH, Ford looks a million times better. Loved her with her hair pulled back in a ponytail all freshfaced and facial-ed.

Why the hell have Phyllis and Nick been having these private conversations, ex. Thursday's episode where he felt responsible for Sharon's breakdown, in the middle of Restless Style's office?!?!?

Oh,I didn't realise the shrink on Tara was the same as Sharon's.Neat.PS Tara is a great show.

Thurs show was a good one.Liked the whole take on Chloe and Mac bonding-way more interesting than making Chloe Phyllis Mk2.Clem is starting to blossom.

Paul and MJ was intriguing.

Seriously,Jack complemented Chloe's good taste on the pink walls in the poolhouse?

P.S. I loved NB's interview with Jess. She was extremely honest and open. She seems like an awesome woman..and I loved that she even asked Nelson what he thought about John Abbott dying, though he pretty much ignored the comment altogether.

    • Oh so they did sleep together. The retcon was just the medical boards? That makes sense. I think Susan Pratt, while a good actress, was just an unlikeable presence onscreen and soaps wrote to that most of the time. There was some potential for more with her when she returned in that stint, as Pratt was at least interesting to watch and caused some conflict for the stifled Bauers. Instead of pairing her with Alan and then disappearing I might have had her hook up with Danny. I think there was a lot of flirtation with Bolger's Philip, but they never crossed the line.
    • I haven't seen Melchior in the role, but it would be astounding if she's worse than Linn. Her rivalry with Stephanie was sidelined IMO because Linn was one of the few actors who didn't have chemistry with, nor raise her game, when paired with Susan Flannery. To be fair, she did show some signs of life in scenes opposite Darlene Connelly, but way too little too late. It feels like Bell finally woke up after the Thorne switchover and sidelined the Kristin character with Mick to 1 or 2 appearances a week. As a result, the show improved by leaps and bounds after she was inexplicably at the center of the show for most of 1989. Margo is so much more enjoyable when not tied to that albatross. Even Clarke is watchable with less Kristin interaction. She can't exit stage left soon enough. As for the new Thorne, I agree that Norcross feels like a Forrester a lot more than Thrachta, even if the latter is a better actor.
    • The cast said that scenes were filmed over a few weeks, with a preplanned hiatus in the middle, and it was all out of order.  I would *guess* that they used Chandler when they could get him? They also had to work around Leo Howard getting married around the time these episodes were filmed, but I guess they worked it out since Tate appeared.
    • Maybe there was a scheduling conflict or something. He still has the full time 9-5 in Atlanta, right? Julie was there. Idk if Maggie’s gonna be a part of it though
    • At this point, the best nonpaywall coverage of Los Angeles (and anything political)  is in...the Tennessee Holler https://bsky.app/profile/thetnholler.bsky.social And as always, emptywheel continues to be consistent https://bsky.app/profile/emptywheel.bsky.social
    • Today Monday was the start of people arriving at the funeral, but the service hasn't started yet.  I know this is the nonspoiler thread but I think it's okay to say (in nonspecific terms) that the funeral episodes span a few days.  I won't detail it more here. Just sayin' keep watching.
    • Why am I only now hearing about what happened in L.A., lol?
    • While I agree that Reeves is Jennifer, I honestly do prefer Cady McClain in the role, as I feel she had/has a wider range of acting capabilities than I feel Reeves has. It's the strength of an actor, ultimately, for me, regardless of how I feel about Reeves' political/social views (which I widely disagree with). Plus, not to mention, they costumed Reeves like an old-fashioned frumpy farm/Moron wife, while McClain had some fashion-forward moments.
    • Wait - so no Will, Jack, or Jen at John's funeral? That’s just weird. What was the point of bringing them back then? Did Julie and Maggie even show up? I mean, seriously.
