I had to rewatch the show this morning (Monday's ep) to show some scenes to someone.

That in itself is remarkable. "You have to see this...", "You missed this...". That's the mark of a show on fire. Some thoughts:

Agreed!

It was delicious to see Jill in full mode. Anyone else have my dirty mind? When she was redoing her lipstick after going private with the governor, I automatically assumed b.j. Am I nuts?

Nope I thought along the same lines of the implications of the "reapplied lipstic after both re-emerged" (the actor who played the governor didn't play that beat very well though). I am pretty sure that's what it meant.

Jana and Daniel dressed all Rat-Pack-period/edgy. Amber and Kevin more conventional. Jana and Daniel spending the evening together; so are Amber and Kevin. Jana bolstering Daniel; Amber and Kevin bolstering each other.

Then, when the "good news" came, what an interesting sequence of hugs:

Amber-Kevin/Jana-Daniel, then

Amber-Jana/Kevin-Daniel, then

Amber-Daniel/Kevin-Jana

You don't think they're setting something up, do you?

Caught that as well....

Lackluster Nikki/Paul proposal. Sigh.

Didn't care for it either

I love Clementine Ford. She's working soooo hard, but people are missing her nuance.

So, she's being all stern and schoolmarmish ("kilt", "caber"). And Billy plays with it, "Go Caber Man!".

Mac has a genuine smile...and instantly tries to suppress it and look away.

It is so clear the actress is playing "suppressed affection for Delia's sake". I don't know why people keep thinking she's lackluster...she's playing "defended".

Get out of my mind Mark. I've been saying this, I can already see that she is growing into the role and her choices (because the character is so mysterious at this point) are underappreciated

All this hue and cry against Daniel Goddard is unwarranted. People are taking it out on the actor that:

- he's a bit too old to be P3

- they should not have retconned the P3 story

- he's in a less-than-perfect romance with Lily

Here's the thing: Goddard the actor is a terrific "bloke". Average guy, like's footy and rugby and racing cars and some Fosters. He's remarkably attractive.

Unfortunately, for a very long time (ever since Clear Springs) he's been written wrong. At Clear Springs he was "promoted" to construction manager (that was already a mistake...the promotion...but it fit his working class roots), and he scaled pipes to save the day. That was fun, engaging, and different from just about everyone else on Y&R. When he started becoming a cosmetics CEO...bit mistake.

But that's over. That has been rebooted. He's now a pub owner, back to his bartender roots.

Finally, people hold against the actor the whole IDEA of the P3-babyswitch tale. Okay. I hate(d) it too. But it is done. I don't want them to KEEP undoing every DNA test (Cane, Summer). At some point, that is a lazy device that is used too much (like Doppelgangers).

We've been promised a dark story in Cane's future, and I think that will take us in a new direction with him? Why flash endless pictures of ostriches and dead ostriches? The story is being repaired, the actor is engaging.

Exactly!! He's no grand thespian, but this character has been written all over the place and is extremely inconsistent , that should not be held against the actor. I have found him more tolerable in scenes where he's not under Lily and is allowed to play different shades of Cane

Time and again, I think the thing that most surprises me about soap viewers is their unwillingness to go along for the ride....

Sums it up for me

I have decided that is not only the extensions, it is the Farah Fawcett 80s look. CF already looks like Billy's old sister. The hair makes her look even older and dated. What are Y&R stylist's thinking there? Take out most of the waves and take off 4 inches off the extensions. And do something about those bags under her eyes!!!

Even though I think she looks fine, what you describe could be plausibly done. As she slowly gets out of her "unpretty" Darfur mindset, she might become more contemporary and "pretty" in a midwestern-American sense.

We are supposed to forget she debuted with short dark hair. Therefore, this is her "natural hair". Nothing prissy :)

Hold on.

Not only am I supposed to forget that this character has been portrayed by four actresses, I'm supposed to forget that her hair was short for a couple weeks?

There's only so much a soap fan can take LMAO.

To me, it doesn't matter what the hell her hair looks like. Extensions are even beyond prissy: they're high maintenance! And Mac has never been that. I can see her developing into a refined woman, wearing more makeup, sporting a more fashionable wardrobe. But not be high-maintenance. I've worn extensions, personally, and it's a lot of work.

If they were temporary for Katherine's wedding, I'd get that. But not this.

LOL. I try to justify these decisions :)

I'm pretty sure that CF's casting came down to the wire, and she probably had to start post-taping some stuff instantly. Thus, before her makeover was started, we got those early "just back from Darfur" scenes.

I honestly think we're supposed to ignore it.

But I have come to realize I may be more inclined to give TPTB "a pass" than others :)

I believe she changed her hair on her own accord. She originally sported the extentions at some event a few weeks back, and then she kept it for Mac on the show...

And MarkH, your screen caps don't bother me, I know that it won't happen and to separate delusion from reality. :)

MarkH, this isn't about looking Mac looking pretty. CF is attractive. It is about her looking much older than her 29 years. She looks too old for a triangle with Billy and Chloe when she is in their age range. Y&R knows this which is why they had the stylist's put in those extension so quickly. They simply have not gone far enough in making her look her real age.

Hilarious.

LOL.

I usually don't make a big deal about certain things but this detail just doesn't mesh into the incarnation of Mac that we're supposed to be seeing returning from those war-torn, dehumanizing refugee camps.

I'll get over it when Ford begins to act.

Well, you are expressing the majority opinion!

Surely, she's getting notes about this by now?

I will be optimistic, MarkH.

She's not as godawful as several of her female peers, thankfully. She's not annoying. So, I will be optimistic.

But, that hair got's to go LOL.

Somebody get sharon a gun, preferably a bozooka with good range or something that moves in three. She is going to have problems with three pyschos

The Nikki/Paul scenes were sweet today. I like them so much.

I will try to be optimistic with CF/Mac. But GAAAWD. Can't she show us some spark? Some emotion other than boredom? Something???

And oh - Rafe in them jeans :wub::wub:

I like to say I never had a problem with Cane especially when he had his shady past. I just can't accept him as Philip 3rd.

But when he's around Lily that's when my claws come out. He's to old to be acting like he never been laid before. & like Lily pure coochie is made of gold. That he becomes this 16 year old boy.
