Personally, I think Guza hates ME because he brought not-Emily back of all the characters he COULD bring back. We need Dillon, Ned - who has reunited with Lois, and Brooke Lynn to come back and join Edward, Tracy, and Monica. The writers need to convert some of the mob stories to CORPORATE stories and have the Q's defending their fortune.

in the 90s, the Quartermaines were at their finest during social relevance stories: Monica's breast cancer, Alan's addiction, even Alan's mentoring role in the HIV storylines

so I'd suggest a similar, realistic story where Edward develops Alzheimer's disease: it would be an excellent showcase for John Ingle and as Edward loses his memories and makes peace with his friends, enemies, and life, they could fold in the various missing Quartermaines: Jimmy Lee (and his family), Celia (and her family... I don't remember now whether she ended up with Grant, Jimmy Lee, or someone else), Dylan, Ned, Brook Lynn and Aisha Ward.

Guza would never go for it, but I'd have Jason hit his head again and regain his Quartermaine memories. I'm not saying I'd turn him back into old Jason, but robot mob Jason has pretty much run his course.

I'd also find a way to bring back Alan or AJ or both: I've posted before that my fantasy for the show would be that Sonny is a villain after all, and has been keeping Alan and AJ alive somewhere. Bring A&A back and write Sonny out. Allow the town to deal with the fallout from that--this could put Alexis and Carly and Sonny's various children on the frontburner too

What I have never understood is the big Quartermaine being the center of the show from fans.

The Quartermaines came on in the 70's with just 3 members - Alan, Edward & Lila. Soon they added Tracy.

Okay for years the Quartermaine family members came and went.

Tracy left, came back, left, came back, etc.

Celia came in and left

Jimmy Lee came in and left

Alexandra came in and left

And so on and so on and so on.

The Quartermaine's have always been a revolving door with only 3 stable members - Edward, Lila and Alan.

Through the passage of time it was clear that Edward and Lila would leave. Edward would have done been gone if they had stuck with the orginal actor but they didn't and hired a younger actor to play him - not once but twice.

I love the Quartermaine's as much as everyone but they are not the be all and end all of families on GH.

If you want to get upset - get upset about the Hardys. Look at what happened to them. Or even to the Webber's an extended family of the Hardy's.

That's where the crime was at on GH.

But remember even with them, GH was never designed to be a show centered around one family in the first place. That was not the way GH was designed and it shouldn't ever be that way.

i agree Killing Alan was the biggest mistakes ever....if i was writing id have Helena faked his entire death him and emily and Aj. as she has some sort of vendetta against them. nobody would mind cause its a soap opera. id love it.

Jimmy Lee ended up with Charity Gatlin, out of town. Not sure what happened to Celia.

I think you mean Keesha Ward, but she was not a Quartermaine. Justus was the only Ward who was established as a Quartermaine, but Justus was also said to have two sisters. Keesha was his cousin, so she was not a biological descendant of Bradley Ward, Edward's illegitimate son.

But, I'm still not clear on whether Justus's sisters were full sisters or half-sisters. I'm fuzzy on details now, but it WAS established that Bradley Ward was killed fairly young, so it might have been after fathering Justus, and the sisters might have come from Justus's mother remarrying. If they ALL were fathered by Bradley, then that's one hell of a missed opportunity because that means there are more African-American Quartermaines out there...

I think they need to have Monica meet an Alan doppleganger and leave town with him. I don't care if it's cliched, it would at least be a wink to her relationship with Alan and Monica could go with some dignity.

Then Ned and Brook Lynn return to town, and they live in the mansion with Tracy and Edward. Maybe a Quartermaine cousin can move in eventually.

I believe that they were established as being Bradley's daughters and Justus' full sisters (and therefore Edward's granddaughters) and I've read that one of them Faith appeared either for Edward's trial for Bradley's murder or for her father's funeral. Apparently Faith decided that she didn't want to have anything to do with the Qs...

Speculation here but I'm thinking Labine wanted to establish that Justus did indeed have sisters so there'd be an opening to expand the Ward family later on down the line but circumstances (Rosalind Cash dying, Labine leaving) meant that this didn't happen.

I think though that it would be neat if one day one of Faith's children turned up wanting to know the Qs...they could then have Faith on with Faith blaming Edward for what happened to Justus over the years.

    • sss Ms. Tunie is a goddess. I feel all the anger, pride, sadness, arrogance, dignity, fear, love, and other emotions in everything she does as Anita.
    • You're right. People like me who stuck with her, did so because of her history. The show just skated her along with no story,  no goal, no aim. Right again! This is who I forgot before. When you describe her, it makes me appreciate her more. Thinking back I loved Mandy.
    • Maybe Guza is becoming Y&R Head writer and Jilly will be named EP! Remember CBS installed Latham as consultant and later Mal Young, both of whom took over the show. Of course, they each got credit during the consulting days.
    • Don't forget Carrie, who as Carrie2 was screwing everything in pants, and PPD Reva, who to either get back at Josh for his supposed affair with Vanessa (or just to prove she's more desirable than Van) tries to screw half the male population.
    • Post-production isn't exactly akin to sweeping the floors, but it makes more sense given her CV.  And, it would invalidate any concerns that she has an undo influence on the creative process, as opposed to visual and sound design of the show.  In fact, given her interests, it makes sense that she would want to consult and see the impact of newer technology in a post-production facility.  I could only imagine how much has changed in sound technology since she worked on SB, and that might be intriguing to utilize. As well as their impending move (not as soon as B&B, but we all know it will happen) and helping set up post-production at the new facility.
    • The last five or so episodes of season 8 after the Jean Hackney story ended were pretty strong with the Laura/Val friendship breakdown, Ben's PTSD with Val trying to help him, and the start of Jill realizing that Val was as much of a threat to her happiness with Gary as Abby was. I always thought that the Jean Hackney story should have ended at mid season at the latest... and then deal with the fall-out because seeing Ben/Val switch roles with Ben in mental decline instead of Val would have been interesting to explore.  And seeing Val and Laura's friendship suffer also was interesting and should have been explored especially with Karen caught in the middle and Abby both intrigued and amused at the conflict that she didn't cause. However, season 8 was the only Latham run season where Val was well written.
    • Well, she's not in there sweeping the floors at the end of the night, and you don't bring in an award-winning producer to just sit on their backsides (or hey, maybe you do!). Again, without knowing the specific capacity she's in there working as⏤and it seems as if we are not going to at the present time⏤it's hard to speculate/discuss. I would interpret she's in a role that either would not require being credited, or she's, as others have speculated, is back and not receiving credit for the work she's done. That'd be like saying, per the WGA, all writers must be credited, but as we've seen by those who've worked as fi-core, they don't always receive credit.

And, if my research is correct, per the DGA, you can request not to be credited for work you do. I could only assume the same would be for the PGA, as well.
    • When Anita read Barbara's letter, it started out with the viewers hearing it in Barbara's voice as Anita read silently. And then Anita saying the next portion aloud while Barbara's voice continued simultaneously. And then ending with Anita alone saying the last part aloud. Excerpt from interview  (link to full interview) The rest may be spoilerish -- Only the nonspoiler part here: I love the idea of reading that letter,” shares Tunie. “And at one point in the script, I think it said that my voice joined her, and [Anita] started reciting the letter from memory because [she] memorized this letter. I suggested to Steve Williford, our director, ‘What if it’s like that moment in Hamilton when Hamilton is writing the resignation letter to George Washington, and then he starts saying it too, and then Hamilton’s voice fades away, and then it’s all George. What if we do something like that?’ And he was like, ‘Oh, my God! I just got chills. Let’s do it!’ So, we did it.” I understood that it worked really well, so I’m really happy about that.”
    • I think MVJ and Guza made a good team in the launching of the soap, and I'm hoping that the rotation of all stories and characters is maintained once he officially departs from the credits. And so far, Ron C's breakdowns have been decent... but they pop only when he's paired with a good script writer like Jazmin.   I hope once Guza leaves officially... that MVJ is able to reign in Ron C and the dread Jamey G.
    • I read that, but my interpretation was that she is uncredited because it is in a non-production capacity.  In others words, she's not secretly producing, or writing, as some had speculated prior to the confirmation. Her likeliest position would be in a post-production consultant capacity. I assume we agree on this?
